The front desk offered little assistance and essentially told us there was nothing they could do. Strangely, just minutes later they were suddenly able to find us a room and offered a suite upgrade, although that room was not yet available. Around 3:30 PM we were finally given access to a room, only to discover that it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The couch was pulled out into a bed, drawers were left open, and the room looked as though a previous guest was still occupying it or housekeeping had not finished preparing it. The one bright spot in our experience was a very kind and attentive bellman. He immediately recognized our frustration, contacted the front desk on our behalf, and within minutes our suite upgrade was ready. What had previously seemed impossible was suddenly resolved in less than ten minutes. He was by far the most helpful member of the staff we encountered during our stay. While the suite was certainly nicer, the hotel itself feels dated. The age of the property is evident throughout the rooms, and in our opinion, it does not live up to its reputation as a five-star luxury hotel. We would rate it closer to a four-star property, perhaps even a 3.5-star experience based on the service, room quality, and overall operation. Adding to our disappointment, we dined at Lacroix and found the food to be well below what we would expect from a hotel of this caliber and price point. The delays and room issues created unnecessary stress, especially since we had dinner reservations at 4:30 PM and were already pressed for time. For the rates charged by The Rittenhouse, we expected a seamless luxury experience and received anything but. Overall, we were disappointed with both the service and the quality of the property. We will not be returning and would choose the Four Seasons for future visits to Philadelphia. At this price point, there are simply better options available.

The vibe overall is also really comfortable. It feels a bit more cozy and grounded than your typical business hotel, which makes it nice to come back to after a long day of meetings or travel. The second room with a king sized bed has an amazing view of Logan circle. It was really pretty. The rooftop bar is very cool and we enjoyed hanging out here the first night. Unfortunately it was closed the next night for a private event so if you were only staying that night you were out of luck. The first room did not include breakfast which was a bummer because the rooms here are not cheap. The second room did but we were not aware that it is only 20$ per person and the restaurant is expensive so anything over is on you and it's easy to go over. And then of course you have to tip on the full amount so breakfast wasn't cheap. My advice is to get a room without breakfast and go eat at Federal Donuts across the street. When I got home we figure out that they charged us for breakfast. Getting that straightened out was a pain in the butt and I would be told they were going to fix it and that a manager would need to call me back which of course never happened. So I had to call several times. They finally refund the 40$ a day that the hotel automatically puts on there for breakfast whether you go or not but the charges we made at the restaurant are still on there that we charged to the room. So how is that free breakfast? We paid for breakfast. Parking here is like $75 a day so if you can avoid having a car do that. We just got an uber instead. Also they charge a 300$ fee for incidentals at check in which is kind of shocking on top of already expensive rooms. They refund it after your trip but you better make sure your credit card can fit the fee! I am unclear what the incidental fee is for because there is nothing to buy in the room unless people steal the bath robes or something. My son's room was out of shampoo and he had to ask several times for someone to come and refill it. Otherwise standard amenities in the room including ironing board and hair dryer and mini fridge. Bathroom was odd as I couldn't find any outlets. I finally realized the only outlet is on the wall next to the toilet. Bizarre. My sister in law commented that it was weird that there were no outlets in the bathroom. I had to tell her "go look next to the toilet!" So there were some good things here along with the bad. Location was good as it's right in center city and it was convenient to the locations we needed to go to and it was easy to get an uber or Lyft from there.

The suite was immaculate, spacious, and very quiet. We especially loved the beautiful marble bathroom, vanity table, spacious closet, and incredibly comfortable king bed. The living room was also very comfortable, with a large sectional sofa and beautiful accent pillows. The bathroom was beautifully appointed with Balmain shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and soaps. The fragrance was absolutely divine and added a lovely luxurious touch to the experience. Although our reservation was for two nights beginning August 8, we decided to check out the following evening. This worked out perfectly for us, as we were able to leave at a time that was convenient for us and avoid the heavier traffic on our drive home. Bright colors, bold graphics, and pieces that mix humor with commentary. Some of the works had pretty sharp messages that feel very tied to the current cultural moment. Because it was so crowded, my friend and I didn't stay too long. There were also quite a few tables with leftover food and half finished beers sitting out that hadn't been cleaned up yet, which made the space feel a little messy. It might just be because the turnout was bigger than expected. Still, it was cool to see the hotel participate and turn the space into a gallery for the night. Worth popping into if you're already doing the First Friday rounds.

We called down to the front desk for assistance and was told that she would check if engineering was available, yet we never heard back from anyone the entire night. When we checked in, we were told that there is someone available 24/7 for any assistance and we learned that this was not the case. Also at check out, we were never asked how our stay was, and our air conditioning issue was never even mentioned which shows that our issue/complaint fell on deaf ears. Overall, it was a very disappointing stay, especially for the price point. The hotel didn't seem like it was ready for opening week and should not be charging the prices it's charging for the level of service provided. For just a little bit more, we could've stayed somewhere nicer. We will definitely not be staying here again.

Not as much feedback as larger hotel chains, but everything I found was pretty positive. For the dates I was booking I had 2 ground-floor options available, one facing Front St., and another facing the rear. I chose the rear to reduce street noise. First impression of this place was amazing. The space felt more like a tastefully decorated studio apartment than a hotel. The appliances are modern, bathroom spacious, and everything seemingly clean. However, there were 2 immediate issues that put me off a bit: Firstly, I booked an extra day due to arriving on a red-eye with the hopes that the room would be good-to-go in order to catch up on some rest. However, I noticed right away that the HVAC was turned off and it was a fairly cold morning. I turned on the heat, but after waiting 2 hours there was no noticeable change in temperature. I will say the hotel was very responsive to my text messages, and were able to fix the issue remotely once I did reach out. Secondly, none of the outlets in the unit worked. I'm unsure if was related to the HVAC problem, but I was eventually able to locate the circuit breaker and noticed the circuits for the outlets were either tripped or turned off. Between the HVAC and electrical issues- any hope I had on catching up on rest was destroyed. The final issue that sealed the deal for me not returning was the noise. In fairness, our unit(#2) is adjacent to not only the main entrance, but also the rear faces a common space. There is a little patio/garden area that at first glance seems like it might be private, but due to a lack of a gate/door- I presume it is a common space. Look, I lived in NYC for a decade and am no stranger to noise, but this was beyond tolerable. During both nights we stayed, but especially the first night where we were already sleep deprived, noise was a huge issue for my partner and I. Between the hours of 1am to 3:30am 2 drunk guys entered and exited at least a dozen times. I don't know if they were on a coked up, late-night scavenger hunt or what, but what I do know is one was named Will from hearing it repeatedly. At 2:30am they decided it was a good time to stand outside our window rambling about nothing. We were able to fall asleep around 4am to be woken up promptly at 6am with music blasting and someone shouting. I don't know if the morning noise was from a nearby business or another guest, but the end result was no more than 2 hours of sleep before a wedding. I texted the hotel and they again responded very promptly saying they'd look into it, but I never received any follow up. EDIT: No such follow up was promised to me, but would have been helpful. All in all, the space itself is fantastic and hotel very responsive, but due to a few misses in attention to detail and the noise, I would not return to this location. Also, look- I understand that noise from other guests is beyond the immediate control of the hotel staff. The staff was responsive, friendly, and helpful. The review reflects only my willingness to recommend another person stay here based on my experience, and not at all on the staff. EDIT: In response to the reply from the hotel: I just checked my phone and email and can confirm that I did not receive any such follow up. Perhaps it was to the wrong number? Either way I did appreciate the quick responses. I also changed from 2 star to 3. 2 is too harsh given the crux of my complaint was beyond the hotel's control- and given the staff's friendliness.

Right underneath the train in Fishtown but it wasn't an issue whatsoever, actually very relaxing to have the sound at night. I wish there were Stay Lokal's on the West Coast! Staff was friendly. The breakfast was ok although the breakfast area is too small to accommodate everyone; I ate my breakfast in my room. The best part about the hotel is the location. It is only 10-15 minutes away from many attractions. I would stay here again.

I loved my experience with Kestrel Hotel…read more Booking was easy. I booked and paid for the room and a spot to park in their two car garage online. Fifty percent was taken out right away, the rest about a week before. The Kestrel Hotel provided detailed instructions, about a week out, on how to check in. It is all done electronically. You enter the hotel and room via a code. Instructions were very clear, I had no issue. The room I stayed in consisted of a bed, full stove and refrigerator, a small sitting table with two chairs, an oversized chair by the bed, a large closet, a booklet full of local recommendations and full bathroom. The kitchen was stocked with oil and vinegar, a bag of pre-ground coffee from Elixr Coffee Roasters, a Chemex and kettle to make a pour over and some canned drinks (which I didn't touch so I can't vouch for them). The bathroom featured body wash and shampoo from a local soap place. During the stay, emailed instructions arrived about how to properly use the climate features in the room. On the day of checkout, another email arrived detailing how to take care of my garbage and what I needed to know to properly check out. The location is awesome. It is right around the corner from the Underground Arts venue. Elixr Coffee is nearby. It is just a short walk to Reading Terminal Market, Chinatown, Broad Street and the Center of the City. I enjoyed my stay so much, I've already booked another night there in September.
