Avocado Toast is amazing. Great place to take the kids too and have them enjoy fun games while the adults sit and enjoy their food.

The Brewers tied in Cincinnati. The US men's national team handling Bosnia. Basically every screen in the place was must-watch TV and the bartender -- understandably distracted, perhaps -- decided that was the ideal moment to restock straws and cut fruit. We waited. In the heat. Our server was genuinely good when he materialized, which wasn't as often as we'd have liked. Food: the cheese curds earned their reputation. The Mekts burger was fine -- solid, no complaints. The Reuben rolls, however, arrived looking exactly like what they were: a Sysco product plated with minimal ceremony. Hard pass next time. As for the name -- if you're picturing a dock, pilings, maybe a gull or two -- walk outside and squint hard past the road and the rooftops. Big lake's out there somewhere. Technically. Maybe a 3.2 night in a 4.3 restaurant. I'd go back on a slow Tuesday in October.

I ordered the half garbage plate with sausage and bacon. Pro tip: ask the difference between the half and the whole before you commit. The half comes with three eggs. The whole comes with five. Five. I chose wisely. Oh and don't forget the homemade bread smothered in butter! It's clearly a neighborhood staple. People were greeting each other by name, swapping stories across tables, and operating like they've been meeting there every Saturday since 1974. Thankfully, they extend that same friendliness to random out-of-towners who just wandered in hungry. The vibe is energetic and communal, the kind of place where conversations overlap and nobody seems to mind. It has a modern, eclectic feel, but there's also a subtle time-machine quality to it. Like you stepped into the 1960s, just with better coffee and fewer ashtrays. Perfect blend of nostalgic and now.

If you're a snobby person or someone with tons of food allergies don't come here. They are irrelevant in a very good way. I would stick to the basics here. My friend got the cheeseburger with fries and it was perfect. They have fresh meat, no frozen patties. I got the half order of biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs and it was perfect diner style food. The portions are huge so a half order was way more than enough. My friend had the roast beef omelette and I wouldn't recommend it because the beef was in chunks and was full of gristle. However, everything else was terrific. I didn't have the garbage plate because the portion was huge but it's on my list for next time. Maybe I'll split it with someone because you need to come hungry. Prices are very reasonable but it's cash only.

This is in the downtown area of Kenosha, within walking distance to Lake Michigan. The restaurant is in an old building and is decorated in a very neat style with really cool overhead lights and the back bar is very cool. We got a table quickly and I noticed they had a private event they were hosting. Our server greeted us and took our drink order. We ordered Crab cake sliders as an appetizer. My wife ordered the Cajun Pasta with Shrimp and I ordered the Pork Belly Bahn Mi with fries. our appetizer came out quickly. This was three sliders served on Hawaiian rolls. the crab cakes had good flavor. I liked the chipotle aioli was very good and paired well with the crab cake, house made pickles and pickled red onion. It took quite a while before our entrees arrived. I know it was Friday evening and they were packed, plus they were dealing with a large party, but I think the only reason we got our food when we did was because our server, who was also a bartender, noticed we hadn't gotten our food. He brought our entrees out and they looked good. I immediately noticed my food was cold and had been sitting for a while. My wife commented her pasta was cold as well. The fries were house made, but cold and the Pork Belly Bahn Mi sandwich was cold and the roll was getting hard, like it had been toasted and sat for a while. I'm guessing our order got made then over looked by the food runner. Regardless, the sandwich was good. The pork belly was tender and the vegetables were fresh. I wish the Jalapenos had been more pronounced, and I wish the roll wasn't so hard, but still not bad. The fries would have been awesome if they were hot. I would like to give them another try when we return to Wisconsin.
