We stopped and asked them to prepare one of their steamer trays...we added 1lb large gulf shrimp, 1/2 pound scallops, sausage, potato's and corn in the old bay seasoning. Fresh seafood steamed at the location. A few things to remember. Please make sure you get what you ordered. They did not give the corm cobs we ordered but we realized it after driving several miles away already. Also, it you choose a fillet that is too thick, make sure they cook them sufficiently. We didn't know what to expect when we came in because we're from a landlocked state and don't really have great seafood options. To say we were impressed is an understatement!!! We were greeted immediately despite it being busy (which was a good sign in and of itself). The husband and wife owners were talking with the customers, getting orders packed and doing so with ease and genuine happiness. When it was our turn, they asked us what we thought we wanted, what we'd be making and how many people we'd be serving. I'm a bit of a foodie and nightly home cook and they picked up on that right away and talked to me in a way that acknowledged that I have some idea of what I'm talking about while still helping guide me in the right direction. They educated us on what to look for in a good piece of fish and how to compare fresh with what we get at home (usually frozen). On top of that, they recommended seasonings for our fish and commended my choice to do a shrimp boil. They made you feel like family from the moment you walk in and the vibe of the whole store was great. And... they told us they would ship to us! I was very excited to find this spot after Blalocks closed. The owners were super nice to talk with, and found out the husband runs his own fishing boat, which is where his fish comes from. Originally went to YELP to find a good fresh seafood spot while on vacation in Destin. This place didn't even pop up, but I felt compelled to submit their first post. We were on the hunt for grouper. The owner asked a couple questions and then brought out a big fresh grouper. He was going to cut fresh filets from the fish. He then realized the first one he brought out was not large enough. He went in the back and brought out a larger fish that would work for the amount we needed. He cut the fresh grouper to the amount we needed and then cut in to filet sizes for our crew of 14. Prices were better than most places we shopped and this was the only place that was literally cutting to order. I saw a sign for red snapper for $15.99 per lb as I entered so I ordered 2 lbs thinking it would be $32 plus tax. It was more like $32 per lb! The bill was $69! I was asked if I wanted the skin off without being told I would be charged about approximately $5 for 30 seconds of work removing the skin! I was also charged $1.98 for using my credit card but was not given a choice to pay cash. The fish was good quality but the way this place interacts with customers is what I would call "passive" by not providing needed information to customers. I don't recommend since they take advantage of tourists. read more

Found this little gem on a work trip where I was staying in a hotel and couldn't cook. Went for lunch to get some steamed shrimp. I found them to be VERY helpful and nice. Shrimp was excellent, so I went back for dinner! Wanted fish, and they were very patient and friendly explaining the nuances of the fish and which ones would steam best. Turns out about all of them, but I tried cobia. Outstanding!! In talking with one of the owners, turns out they are looking into opening a location in middle Tennessee!! I hope they do!! We ordered shrimp (Cajun) for a grouping of 40 people - excellent. Went back for seafood to take home (9hrs drive) - packed well. Highly recommend the crab cakes. John says they sell 18K a year and now I know why. Also, try Araya's sauce - goes great with shrimp. Be careful easy to be engaged when you enter the place - and also be ready to wait as people know this place exists for great seafood. It's no longer a secret!!
