I found this place by accident - looking out of my window at the Lancaster Arts Hotel. It's a total gem - good vibe, an eclectic menu (gluten free options!), and nice quick service, at least for takeout. I grabbed a couple of slices Portabella & Cremini Mushrooms, Kale, Gruyere, Garlic Oil - the toppings were perfectly balanced and the crust was super thin and amazingly crispy, even by the time I got back to the hotel with my takeout box. Ten minutes later I regretted not getting more than my two slices and went right back for a couple more, this time also tried the Margherita which was exceptional. Great spot - wish it had been around when I went to school at F&M and lived in Lancaster. Checked it out on a recommendation from a great friend on our way out of town. Pizzas smelled delicious and the two types we tried were excellent. Service was fast, courteous and all smiles. Excellent brews on draft, impressive selection of bottles, prices were fine. Sems like a place to chill, have a brew or a bunch, and grab some grub. Excited to try the sandwiches and some of the apps next time. Excellent addition to the Lancaster scene. I'm interested in this place, but it's kind of strange. It's nice inside, although crazy cramped and kind of weird for what is a fairly pricey pizza and beer. You order at the counter, you can order by slice and only the pizzas they have laid out, even if you have a whole pie, no custom I guess. We chose something simple with pepperoni and mozzarella because so many of the other options were almost too weird or featured something my husband was wonderfully allergic to. The pizza was good. Not great - but a solid thin crust pizza with really high quality ingredients. The potato wedges I insisted upon were pretty below par, basically chunks of baked potatoes with a mess of tasteless herbs on top (I was the only one who ate them, because I love potato and will eat it plain and bland). The beer selection? I don't know, maybe it's because I'm from southwestern Ohio/northern Kentucky where the beer and liquor roam (lots of selection) but all of the beers were fairly normal things. And kind of pricey, but that's again, that Pennsylvania's weird beer laws, so I don't blame them for that. Only a few beers on draft, which saddened me. I suppose I should have expected that. It's a cute place, but in terms of being a primarily beer themed place, I can think of tons more in the area that have more and better beer. For those of us who live outside of the Commonwealth, Pennsylvania beer buying laws are nigh incomprehensible. From what I've learned in several trips there, I think you can only buy beer from specific stores that can only sell you 3,000 bottles at a time, which is inconvenient for those of us who like to try, say, two different beers in a month. Thank goodness for a magical restaurant/beer store like the Fridge, where you can buy individual bottles from an amazing selection of hundreds of great craft beers. The food looked really good, too, and we'll be back for that, but this particular eve, we just wanted a reasonable amount of different beers to try, and the Fridge was perfect for that, with a really impressive collection of local, national, and international options. We planned on picking up only a few bottles, but we ended up buying a few dozen, because there were so many great beers we wanted to try and/or haven't been able to find in our area. They also have a really good list of beers on draft, so you've really got no excuse to not get here with a quickness. It's an ideal local spot - I only wish we lived closer! read more

The fridge is a super hip, very chic new gastropub located just outside the city. While their "Artistically Crafted" pizzas leave something to be desired, their beer selection is OFF the hook. This was a true find - almost a diamond in the rough. I love pizza, i love thin crust, well done pizza as a matter of fact and this place is perfect for me! The taste was terrific, not your traditional same-ole-same-ole stuff, but well thought out and made to please with fresh ingredients. There were 3 of us, and we order 2 full pizzas, a pepperoni and a mushroom and spinach with gruyere cheese and we ate every last bit. There are 6 large pieces in one whole pizza. Also, they have a ton of beer options. They don't do pitchers, but they do growlers, and if you're ordering for take out you can also apparently get a growler to go. (This is a new concept to me, but a good one!). The staff was really great, we had a terrific time and will be back, as we need to get our fix of thin crust pizza now and again. read more

After a long first week of classes, we took the bus in from Millersville, had a quick bite at Spyro Gyro's, and headed to the Fridge. This all came about after my friend started talking about Founders Brewing Company, and their amazing Porter and Breakfast Stout. Heard about The Fridge from a bartender at Jack's and browsed the selection on their website. Yes, they had Founders Porter on draft! Got one, savored each sip, and chilled. Didn't have any food, but will try the pizza next time. Hope they carry the Breakfast Stout soon. I'll get the Young's Double Chocolate Stout next time, haven't had one in years! Think I'll be coming here for all my Stout needs! In terms of space, it has an industrial feel, and the space has a rectangular shape to it, longer, narrower than wider, but a decent amount of seating both inside and out. From the Queen Street RRTA station, it might be quicker to get there by cutting through Linear Park instead of walking up Harrisburg Ave as we did. read more

We heard about this place from a article and then reminded from a friend of ours the other week end. So we plugged the address into the garmin and off we went. It is a really cool and layed back spot. They have a really nice selection of craft beers in the cooler section. They also have a decent selection on draft as well. I was able to get a Founders Breakfast Stout on Nitro and Mary enjoyed a Kona Koko Brown Ale. And we mixed up a 6 pack to bring home for later. We didn't get a chance to try there specialty pizza's this time. But that gives us another reason to stop in again. read more

So my main concern going to local eateries is whether or not they have gf options and whether or not they are any good. The Fridge delivers on both. Their GF pizza is proably among my top two on lancaster. First of all, it looks like a real pizza, free formed and foldable. The toppings are always tasty- this time I picked their mushroom pizza and substituted zucchini for the carmalized onions. The pizza was cheesey, delicious, and cooked perfectly. Sometimes gf crusts are very soggy or too crunchy. I've also found that their gf beverage selection is varied and offers actual gf beers along side hard ciders. I've always enjoyed eating here. The Fridge delivers exactly on what it promises; great beer selection and good eclectic pizza. The beer selection has something for everyone and despite some of the below reviews, the prices really can not be beat for the quality of beer. Perhaps because I have lived in larger cities before the prices actually seem relatively low, but all the same great bang for your buck kind of place. The selection of pizza always delivers as well. About 5 different pies every time you go there, with a few unique choices(ex: fig, applewood smoked bacon white pizza,... awesome). The menu seems to expand every time I go back for a visit. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the place always has a good atmosphere. Sure the space is small and can be a little cramped when packed, but it adds to the ambiance and frankly feels like huge compared to most bars in New York. All together, in the short time The Fridge has been open, it has become one of my favorites in Lancaster and a place I recommend to anyone who enjoys good beer and some tasty bites. read more

The Fridge is hands down the best place to try new beers in Lancaster. They have many unique, hard to find, and different beers in addition to local and more popular beers. They have a few beers on tap, which are usually more popular or limited editions (e.g. Southern Tier, Founders, etc.). Their prices are average to a bit expensive, but the price of drinking a great beer is totally worth a few extra dollars. The only gripe I have is the size of the place, which I'm sure everyone else can attest to that it is way too small! Sometimes on weekend nights, and particularly during seasonal events (e.g. Hoppy Easter), it gets SERIOUSLY crowded, as in no room to put your beer down and elbow-to-elbow standing room. Went for a late lunch on a Thursday. Hoping to find a great new spot, but must limit it to only two stars. A big disappointment. Very dark, cramped layout. Disappointed in the hand crafted artisan pizza. It is their "passion" but the pizza we were served was not as good as we had hoped ...even though the price was good. We ordered the choice of two pizza slices with a NA beverage for $$7.00. We had four slices. The fig/bacon/blue cheese slice was very good. However, another slice (pepperoni and cheese) had pepperoni meat that tasted "off" and its crust was extra thin and very greasy. Two "everything with sausage" slices were colorful and loaded with toppings on a thicker flatbread crust, but were not very flavorful despite the big variety of stuff on top. Non-beer beverage choices limited to new age brands. Bottled beer selection was very large. They have a good craft beer selection with lots of different brands ... but unfortunately do not offer a list of the brands/styles stocked. Prices per bottle seemed fair but high. Eighteen to twenty dollars and up for mix-a-six 12 oz bottles. I hope I visited on an "off" day and they get their pizza making figured out. We'll try them again this summer. read more

This is a dangerous place to visit if you love good beer. Great bottle selection, wonderful choice on draft. Better yet, great staff. They know their beers, they like to help, and they work hard and keeping it all moving. Which is sometimes a problem as size, space, seating is their biggest problem. The outside seats have helped, and it's work the visit just to try out the newest beer. Easily one of the best bottle "fridges" in the city. Cool concept, place looked fun. However it gets 1 star from me because of service last night. I walked in with my 3 friends, went up to the counter & greeted the girl working there by mentioning we were from out of town & wondering how it worked in here (because it looked like it was self-serve). Her response was "congratulations ". I shrugged off the rude comment & then asked "I heard you have wine here too"...to which she just said "yes. We do, only by the glass". Then She just stood there staring at me. She didn't offer a menu or say "here's our list of wines on this chalkboard" or anything. So I asked what types of wine? To which she said "when you pick one I'll tell you". At that point we were done. We were met with nothing but great service & friendly people everywhere we went in Lancaster this weekend for our girls weekend. So we were a little shocked by this unexpected (or warranted) rudeness....So we left. Not many places get all of it right...super clean, cool atmosphere, perfect room temperature, bathrooms you can eat off of. A menu that every signal thing I found appetizing and want to try. The food is super fresh and from the gourmet pizza to the gourmet hot dogs. The selection of tap micro beers to the best cup cakes on the planet. You can tell the owner is hands-on and very detailed and talented. We bought a pepperoni pie and it came out withing 15 mins, had a few beers and had to order another pie to go. Def will go back for some more pizza and their LARGE selection of bottle craft beers. The pizza is a tag pricey and it only comes in slices or an entire pie with entire pie setting you back approx. $18. I believe their pizzas are all thing crust but i quote me on it. Great beer selection for Lancaster, and even for our whole alcohol-selling challenged state for that matter. Pizza is the best and most interesting in town, which isn't saying a whole lot, but it is pretty good. The quality is a little inconsistent - you have to order by the slice and they run each piece through a toaster oven which may not heat the slice through. Came up to Hersey and Lancaster on a Saturday brew tour from Baltimore and had the perfect idea to stop at The Fridge before heading home. The "unfortunate" thing about this was that we were done drinking at this point, and there were so many affordable delicious beers in the FRIDGE. What a genius idea! Beers from all parts of the country/world, different breweries, different types. If I were local, I'd hit up this place on the regular. As far as the pizza...you order 2 slices for $5 from their selection that is already made. The pizza was so good we got 2 more slices each to bring back to Baltimore (I had mine for breakfast).
