Stopped for my monthly membership lunch. Was a table of 10 and a couple folks waiting. They only had one employee so she was really busy. Took her a while to get to me but I finally ordered 2 three dip trios with chips and a chicken, bacon and ranch empanada. The food came out pretty quickly. They usually put the chips in a separate bag but stuffed them in with the dips which I didn't care for. The empanada was banging. Lots of chicken and I could taste the bacon and ranch. I'll order tht one again. They have beer and liquor but I think they are limited on what they have for liquor. I seen stuff for tropical drinks but they may have other stuff. I stopped by The Fried Taco inside Mathis Brothers Furniture in Midwest City after church on Sunday. The restaurant sits in the back of the store, so walk past the sofas to find it. Started with chips and salsa. Chips come fresh and hot, made in-house. Salsa packs real heat with a nice spicy kick and tastes very fresh. I ordered the Puerto Rican beef empanadas; they delivered big flavor. I then ordered the two-taco combo next. The original beef fried taco stands out as fantastic, crispy shell, juicy seasoned beef. The Jamaican jerk chicken taco tastes good but runs a bit dry. Still finished every bite. Combo includes two sides; I added their soup and loved it, rich and excellent. Staff is super friendly and nice. They mentioned they are waiting for a liquor license soon, so drinks expand later. The restaurant is super clean. Worth the short hunt to the back. Go try it next time you shop furniture or just want solid tacos. You will leave full and happy. read more

Service was friendly and fast. I only tried the queso w/chorizo for an appetizer for our table. I thought it was better than average! The chips were thick and seemed more like flour tortillas but they worked well with the creamy dip. I would definitely try some of their tacos the next time I'm at The Collective! read more

I never knew about this place until a couple of days ago (it's inside the Mathis Brothers outlet). I've ate here twice now and both times it was REALLY good. I am a very picky person. especially when it comes to meat and vegetables, but here I am able to order the food exactly as it comes. The chicken is a shredded chicken instead of chunks and it's very juicy and flavorful. I think the prices are really affordable as and both times the waitress was very friendly & helpful. read more

I went today and I won't go back. The chicken in the noodles was good but the noodles themselves did not work for me at all.

The Fried Taco never seems to disappoint me. I've been a Stan for years. However, today was my first time trying the empanadas and OMG! It was insanely delicious. The bread was soft but crispy and the filling was flavorful. Of course you have to grab a lavender lemonade and guacamole. The only thing I don't love is now they give you ONE salsa for free (I had 3 tacos and 1 empanada) and .35 for each salsa after that. I should have at least gotten 2-3 free, but whatever. It also seems like their pricing has increased overall. They were never cheap to begin with, so maybe it was something I noticed this time around after the salsa incident. Okay-- I'm literally obsessed with this place! Love that it's inside of The Collective food hall. What more can you ask for, tacos and cocktails? Say no more! You order and then hand you a buzzer that'll let you know when your order is ready, then you're free to sit anywhere you'd like-- plenty of seating indoors or outdoors. They're about $5 each, but they're soooo delicious and loaded! The taco shells are super crispy, and can get a little messy but it's all part of the experience! I've heard SO many good things about this place and I love tacos so I was excited to try. I ordered the brisket taco and it's pretty miniature so if you're eating for dinner I'd order 2-3 which will run you ~15. Each taco is ($4-5.50). The brisket taco was so tasty on a fried shell! I also loved the medium salsa with it. The chips were also freshly fried and the queso looked delicious but wasn't as impressive as the taco. The fried taco is in the collective in I think it's considered midtown. It's location if your using google maps can be a little misunderstanding. Maybe put something like "in the collective". Maybe they do and I just missed it. They have a nice variety of taco that are the fancy tacos. We tried the brisket taco, chicken, and pork. Also we got some of The white queso dip. The dip was really good. Typically we find chorizo to flavorful and it consumes whatever your eating but there was more mild and you can even have it without it if you prefer. The tacos each was good for its own reasons. The brisket had a slaw on top that was really good. The chicken on was super tasty, the pork one was cooked just right so it wasn't all stringy and dried out like the turkey on nation lampoons Christmas vacation. Btw they fry all their shells hence the fried taco. I liked this and it also made for better reheating the next day with leftovers. Tucked inside of the collective food hall, the name itself intrigued me, but their in house salsas and agua frescas really caught my attention. Their tacos can be pricey, but after what I had, I feel they put enough attention and craft into their product that its worth paying for. Each taco is consistently fried to a lovely crisp that's not crispy as a tortilla chip, but much better than other peoples interpretations of a fried taco that Ive seen. The nashville taco is not your typical nashville style. The heavily caked on dry seasoning is nonexistent (which i was actually ok with). The pickles, spice, and pickles are what makes this "nashville" style. The chicken here is not dry at all. In first, its quite moist. To the point that its got that tuna in water consistency (which I thought helped rather than harmed the meal). The jackfruit is good, but was my least favorite. I was surprised by the chunkiness of the jackfruit, but there wasn't much flavor other than the seasoning that's being used and the sauce that you can use. I did like the broccoli slaw, which actually stood out. The chicken tikka masala was not your typical Indian dish, but i like that it didn't hold back on the spiciness. Could have used a little more yogurt topping imo, but otherwise worth getting if it's on the menu. They don't have it on their official menu cause it's really new, but the guava and crema empanada is worth getting. Possibly the most amount of guava I've ever seen in a pastry. Its like they crammed three guavas into the pastry. My only complaint would be the pastry dough wasn't as flaky or soft as I would have liked. Granted, the blocky sturdiness of the dough handled all that guava and moisture so maybe there is a silver lining. These are well crafted tacos that that shouldnt be passed on, even if youre paying a little more than normal. For being inside a food hall, this was quite impressive, given they are rocking the foundational ingredients they have. They arent shy with showing off their giant stacks of mission tortillas for the world to see, but how they use them is what is what its all about: taking raw or foundational ingredients and cooking up a dish that was better than those ingredients could have ever been. read more

I've been here twice now to the MIDTOWN FOOD COURT location. 1st time was a walk in. Nobody in line and nobody at the register. When I was able to order, I literally had to wait 15 minutes for two tacos. This second time, I ordered online. Again, a 20 minute wait, but going to pickup was another 5 as the line was long! Granted, it's lunchtime on May 5th. I placed my order and was not provided any order instructions. Just pick up your order at this time. I don't know who the girl with the pink hair was/is but she made picking up the order a problem for no reason. "I need to see your order in the app." Ma'am, we got a text and an email. Nothing in an app, didn't and ain't gonna download an app. Begrudgingly, after showing her the email (not the text that confirmed) she allowed us to have our food that we paid for 30 minutes ago at this point. Let's get into the food: They're tacos, in very greasy fried shells. That's it. Nothing to write home about, literally. No stand out flavors, no whimsy. Just mid tacos. Not once, but twice. I probably could've ate 5 more of just those. The chips were so thick and crispy. The mango Guac tasted fresh, but the mango flavor wasn't really there even though it had chunks of mango in it. I anticipated it being more sweet, but still good! The chicken and rice soup had great flavor and would be something to really warm you up and make you feel better if you're sick. That just tasted like it was made from an authentic home. The avocado tomatillo salsa was okay, the pineapple one had great flavor, but the blueberry needs to be sold by the jar. I had been wanting to try this place for a good while after reading their excellent reviews. My friend was in from out of town and suggested we try it out and I was all for it! Bonus-it happened to be taco Tuesday, when they have a deal of 3 tacos for $10. I am obsessed with jerk chicken and chose two of those tacos plus a Nashville taco. The guy at the counter let my friend try the Nashville chicken before purchasing and she opted out because of the high heat level. I decided to brave it because it was delicious. My body however, is still punishing me, hours later lol. My stomach feels like it has holes burned in it (dramatic much?) I would probably not chose to put myself through that delicious pain again but for those of you who have stomachs of iron and love spicy foods, you must try the Nashville taco! The Jamaican taco was fantastic! They are definitely not stingy on their meat! I plan to come back and get their white queso with my husband and probably just eat one taco. They are very filling! This was totally yum. I ordered the jackfruit taco which is their vegan option and absolutely delicious. It is barbecue jackfruit with a broccoli slaw vinaigrette. The jackfruit was spot on; there were no big pieces so I didn't think it was jackfruit. When jackfruit is left in chunks it loses something in the translation. It's flavors of the Carribbean, specifically Puerto Rico, and US of A fused inside of a crispy, pork fried taco shell. You know I am obsessed and very picky when it comes to tacos. These are as good as any of the food truck fusion tacos I've had in LA (probably even better). Lots of flavor, innovative use of fresh toppings and sauces, well balanced. Meats cooked perfectly..Pulled brisket smokey, tender, perfect. Nashville hot chicken, loads of spicy flavor, hot but won't scald your mouth. Yuca fries are breaded almost like a fritter, and they're downright addictive, especially when dipped in that tangy sauce. And nothing is more refreshing on a hot summer day than that purplish colored coconut lavender lemonade they serve. Delicious! It was very nice meeting the owner Ruben at the Paseo Arts Festival. I ordered a brisket fried taco, queso with chorizo, and a coconut lavender lemonade. The flavors were incredible, and the fact that this is a scratch kitchen is noticeable in every detail. We both ordered the Taco Tuesday special of 3 tacos for $10, a coconut lavender lemonade and a coconut mango hibiscus lemonade. I had the mango lemonade, the Nashville Hot Chicken, the Chipotle Chicken Bacon Ranch, and the Pork. He had the lavender lemonade, the Nashville, the Pork, and the Caribbean Jerk Chicken. Turns out, we both preferred each other's drinks so we swapped. Both were good but I'm not a big fan of coconut. The mango had a strong coconut flavor but the lavender didn't taste like coconut at all really. For the tacos... The Nashville was no joke on the hot! The spicy deliciousness had my fiance asking to swap tacos because he wanted another one! I definitely agreed with the deliciousness but my favorite was the Chipotle Chicken. It was soooooo delicious! And oozing with sauce! He thought the Jerk Chicken was good but he couldn't get over the Nashville so I'm not sure it had a fair rap. I don't normally like Jerk Chicken but I tried it and thought it was right up there with the Nashville. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the pork taco. It was just ok. It didn't have any of the jazz and pizzazz that the other tacos had. But we will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu! read more
