All the right moves! Under new ownership, this joint overlooking the marina in Harwich Port is classic ocean side eats with postcard views. The owners are so nice and accommodating, the food is solid, well priced and comes out to your table super fast (even on a busy 4th of July weekend night!). No reservations needed, but a great experience will be had. Not sure I understand the other review on Yelp complaining about a ~$10 beer - where are you going anywhere and buying an alcoholic drink for cheaper than that?

I'm giving this place a three star review because I think the food-to-money value here is low. We got clam chowder, one appetizer, and a clam strip platter for $67. I expect to pay higher prices for seafood, but for a walk-up clam shack, I don't anticipate the 15% automatic gratuity on orders of $20 or more (so essentially every order). Also, don't expect your traditional dishes - they have all the staples but with a modern twist. The twists were delicious, but not what I was expecting from a clam shack. The breading on the clams were overbearing, and made them not worth the price at all. Service was good, as we were showing up 15 minutes before closing. Not a bad stop if you're in a pinch, but certainly not the quintessential New England clam shack.

came here on a monday afternoon for drinks and a bite to eat with a fairly large group and had a great time! seated immediately right outside on the water, view is beautiful. they had a full bar and nice draft menu. Food wasn't anything to rave about but it was good, everybody enjoyed. Staff was super kind and attentive. Definitely stop by if you're in the area but i wouldn't go out of my way to go again

This is a gem in Harwich not to be overlooked! Location, service and food make for a 5-star experience when you are looking for any meal! Outside seating overlooking the marina excellent seafood and a sunset backdrop was a perfect end to our day!

Nice and quick food. Love the location- beautiful. We weren't a fan of the clam chowder, a nice lady noticed we hadn't eaten it and asked if we liked it. We told her it wasn't our favorite and she instantly went back to the kitchen and grabbed our refund (we didn't ask) and some gummy lobsters and sharks. Very amazing service and we had a great time playing rummikub while eating. Thanks!

    Dog friendly too!

It took me the whole summer, but I finally made it, and what a pleasant surprise! It is a big improvement from the previous owner. The menu is fresh and exciting, and we each had different items and no complaints. With everything in our new normal, it's important to be considerate with regard to prices and shortage in staff. If you can look beyond that, there's nothing to complain about especially the view! Last night we did dinner, and we went back this morning for a delicious breakfast! Check it out!

Highest of recommendations!…read more Right in Route 28 as you head into Chatman Shopping District. Plenty of parking and open year round. Like the old Caswell's in Marshfield, you buy at a counter, they give you a number, and you sit on down as food is brought to you. The inside of Mac's is very clean and spacious, and has about twenty tables. There is seating outside - seasonal and today is January, with snow... so we stayed inside. Started off with the Mac's Clam Chowder which was a lovely milk broth - just as good as the chowder at the Clark Cooke House in Newport, Rhode Island! Homemade, flavorful and not jammed with excessive potatoes or onion; the clams were cooked well. I had the fish soup, looked almost like Portuguese Kale, but was very delicious, had a bit of heat to it, the fish was downright incredible; the carrots, celery, and onions were cooked to perfection. We usually get some raw bar, and they have a nice selection of little necks, cherry stones, and oysters, but today for us it was a pound and half of steamed clams. Plump, clean, and sand free. Just as good as those at Mattakeese Wharf Restaurant. Lobster... I asked for a two pounder, and got a 2.5 pounder. Fresh, delicious, succulent, and sweet. Wonderful and hard working staff. No negatives whatsoever.

Didn't really get the hype. I've definitely had better clam chowder and lobster rolls. I went for their current advertised Lobster roll special at $23.99. Ordered Exactly as advertised and was charged $25.99. I asked first if it was all claw and knuckle or if they use tail meat too. Oh, definitely both , she exclaimed! I found one small mangled piece of tail at the bottom and it included a sharp piece of shell that hurt my tongue. I told them and showed her the shell. All she did was explain how they try to get it all but they just can't sometimes. I looked at her and said that they aren't doing it right. I asked if she was going to offer me a partial refund and she refused. The Lobster bisque was not a bisque and I don't think there was any lobster in the kitchen when it was made, much less in the pot!! Cole slaw was covered in spicy pepper and neither of us could eat it. Fries were meh! My husband had the fried scallop platter and they were overcooked and super greasy. Disgustingly so. I DK why people like this place but there are so many good places around here where you can get a full service meal, in a real restaurant cooked by real trained chefs and served by professionals who know how to make consumers happy. Total bill with tip was $84.07!!! For a crappy meal with no service and not a clue about customer service. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this garbage.

The dining room was more spacious than it appears to be from the outside. Piped in music leaned heavily toward the '70s. We had reservations for a table for 4 for Monday 4 pm when it opened and the place slowly filled up. Our waitress, Sam, was very animated, attentive, and personable. She explained she was training a new waitstaff member and also that the chef had been busy all day setting up another proximate location. We placed our drink and oyster orders first. Then shortly followed with our entree orders. Two members of our party had food allergies and were very specific about what they could not eat. Sam checked menu items with the kitchen to verify what accommodations could be made. The cocktails were delicious and well made, and we were offered fresh hot rolls with butter and a light whipped hummus. The oysters arrived and were small, but ultra-fresh, sweet and briny. Then we waited...and waited. When our entrees finally arrived, they revealed either some of the kitchen staff also was new and/or the head chef/owner was distracted with setting up the second location. The Cioppino was very good, with plenty of seafood and a lobster tail, as was the house seared scallops with asparagus and lobster risotto. The blackened scallop special was very spicy (as warned) but arrived layered on corn, which we emphatically had said must be avoided. Sam apologized and took that away and replaced it with another vegetable. Then the beer-battered fish and chips arrived with sweet potato fries, when the parmesan-seasoned fries had been ordered. We know in both cases Sam had correctly repeated our orders to us before placing with the kitchen, so it was not her fault. However, she again apologized and brought back the correct type of fries. Sadly, they were pale and limp, contrasted with overbrowned, oily/doughy portions of fish. The accompanying coleslaw was not crisp and was barely seasoned, tasting thinly of mayonnaise. The member of our party who had ordered the fish and chips dinner literally took a taste of each item and pushed the plate away as not good. I also tasted each item and agreed. To the restaurant's credit, Sam spoke with her boss and that entree was removed from the bill. It seems the oysters and specialty seafoods are the highlight here, but more simple fish shack foods are better served elsewhere. Also, better attention needs to be paid to orders by the kitchen. If I return to this area, I would consider returning for the daily oyster specials and drinks, the cioppino, and possibly trying out the creative-sounding desserts, but might want to try other restaurants for a full dinner experience with friends.
