Wow, another solid seafood joint with a tremendous view of the harbor! Easy walk from town, we parked by the Episcopal Church and walked up a mile. Great view. Easy in, and no waiting in the peak of Summer. Probably because it is down the road. They do have a good sized parking lot. Full bar, plenty of tables with that classic New England - Cape Cod flavor to it. Stained pine paneling, nautical themed. Great staff. Friendly, and she made some great recommendations. Fast service, I think they do high volume. Open year round, and that is a huge bonus! Nice winter-time trip to break up the winter blues. We had raw bar, lobster bisque, and lobster rolls. Great casual spot to eat on the water - so rare in Harwich! They have breakfast, lunch and dinner options as well as beer & wine. You can order on mobile from your table or at a window. The night we visited, it was busy but we were able to find a table quickly and the line at the window moved quickly as well, and I was pleasantly surprised at how fast we got our food despite the crowd. The portions were a bit on the small side for the price, but everything we ordered was delicious and the view and vibe was unbeatable! Also appreciated a guy who appeared to be the owner or manager walking around to check on how everyone's meal was throughout our time there - not typical for a small seafood shack! Aside from portion sizes my only other suggestion would be to upgrade from clam strips to whole belly clams - we're at the Cape after all. Definitely check it out!! read more

All the right moves! Under new ownership, this joint overlooking the marina in Harwich Port is classic ocean side eats with postcard views. The owners are so nice and accommodating, the food is solid, well priced and comes out to your table super fast (even on a busy 4th of July weekend night!). No reservations needed, but a great experience will be had. Not sure I understand the other review on Yelp complaining about a ~$10 beer - where are you going anywhere and buying an alcoholic drink for cheaper than that? read more

I'm giving this place a three star review because I think the food-to-money value here is low. We got clam chowder, one appetizer, and a clam strip platter for $67. I expect to pay higher prices for seafood, but for a walk-up clam shack, I don't anticipate the 15% automatic gratuity on orders of $20 or more (so essentially every order). Also, don't expect your traditional dishes - they have all the staples but with a modern twist. The twists were delicious, but not what I was expecting from a clam shack. The breading on the clams were overbearing, and made them not worth the price at all. Service was good, as we were showing up 15 minutes before closing. Not a bad stop if you're in a pinch, but certainly not the quintessential New England clam shack. read more

Nice and quick food. Love the location- beautiful. We weren't a fan of the clam chowder, a nice lady noticed we hadn't eaten it and asked if we liked it. The good: The views and atmosphere are the best. Beautiful and chill, respectively. The service was quick and efficient. The tortilla chips were good and tasted homemade. The fish tacos were very tasty! (So why only 3 stars??) The bad: Upwards of $10 for a can of beer feels like a price gouge, though most of the places I visited so far on The Cape are gouging similarly, it's still a rip. Fish tacos for $14 sounds like a decent price until they are served and you see the 2 three-bite tacos with no sides that get served. I'm not a huge eater but I was left wanting more. Speaking of skimpy, the serving of chips and salsa ($6) was quite literally to laugh at. A handful of chips and a very small cup of salsa (sized so that you could never dip a chip) into it is lame at any price, honestly. I hope the new Dockside owners see this because the bad does not make up for the good, here and I won't be back. read more

It took me the whole summer, but I finally made it, and what a pleasant surprise! It is a big improvement from the previous owner. The menu is fresh and exciting, and we each had different items and no complaints. With everything in our new normal, it's important to be considerate with regard to prices and shortage in staff. This is a great spot for seafood. The fish bites and fish taco were very good; the breading is light and gluten-free, not like the heavy batter you get elsewhere. The lobster rolls were delicious; fresh lobster and big claws with warm butter, but their rolls aren't toasted and get very soggy. The biggest complaint, as others here have stated, is their outrageous %15 tip. We paid $120 for the food and WERE FORCED to include a $18 tip just to have a teenager walk 5 feet and place it on our table. This tipping nonsense has gotten out of control. Had another great meal with a view at The Dockside Seafood Shack. Our first experience was a breakfast stop off - great egg sandwiches and coffee. Our second stop was a family dinner. The food is fresh and so delicious - can't say enough about the fish tacos! It wasn't busy AT ALL so I'm unsure why the person who took our order got so many things wrong, left off items, tried to push a Diet Coke on us when we had asked for water multiple times (and then yelled at US for the misunderstanding??). Why would you yell at your customers and blame them after it's been clarified that it wasn't the drink we asked for and therefore didn't want to be charged for it? Also they kept lifting up their shirt and rubbing their upper chest area...not very appetizing. After all of that hostile/bizarre interaction my sandwich bread was so hard I couldn't eat it anyway. If you're vegan and hankering for a lobster roll it might be worth it but I wanted to at least share my experience here. read more

Fantastic new addition to Mid--Cape dining options. Beautiful marina view. Order from the counter and eat at a clean picnic or smaller table on the deck. Prices are reasonable and the food is terrific, but portions are on the small side. Our party tried the crab cake appetizer which was all crab with a spicy remoulade sauce. Scallop roll was on the smaller side but the low price reflected that. The Ahi Tuna app was done perfectly and served cool with wasabi, soy sauce, and ginger. Wonderful summer appetizer. There was no wait for us on a sunny Friday late afternoon, so if you can't stand the long waits at more expensive places, this is the place for you. Decent beer, wine, and hard cider selection. Not a place for gluten-free diners as only a few dishes are GF, (swordfish and tuna, plus salads) Options for children and dog-friendly deck. Ample parking us a huge plus. read more

I really, really wanted to like this place but wound up very disappointed. Yes, it's a great view and the service (that is, someone calls your name and carries your tray to your table - for 15% mandatory "Delivery Charge") was good. The food was barely acceptable. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich and couln;t finish it. I had the Shark platter (fish and chips) and ate the fish because I like fried breading. The french fries could have been McDonalds. The food was slightly warm even though tasted as soon as it was delivered (temperature is always a problem at outdoor venues). A can of beer and a split of red wine (both ice cold??) topped things off. Served on paper plates with plastic forks and there is no way you could justify the $70 bill. read more

Lobster stacked as Hight as the Sky. We ate here for the first time last night and I've never seen so much lobster on a Lobster Roll - ever !! Not only was there a ton of lobster meat, it was SOO. YUMMY !!! This will be my go-to for Lobster rolls - AND the view of the boats coming and going is spectacular ! We really enjoyed the fish tacos and our first visit. A few weeks later we went for the fish tacos again and unfortunately they were a big disappointment. They were Pollock and too much fried batter and not fresh. We want to support the new owners but just left a bad taste. Two orders of fish tacos with two relatively short glasses of white wine and an order of french fries ran up a $63 tab not including the tip. We certainly don't mind paying for a good dining experience, which this wasn't. We will give it one more try and have the ground shrimp tacos. And probably not order any spirits. We wish them well but they have to get their act together and be more consistent in their food product, especially for the prices charged. read more

I went to the "Shack" with my wife and daughter for a late lunch. Setting seemed promising -- great view of the marina and bay. But food was very disappointing. I ordered what is described on the menu as "full belly clams." The "plate" of those is $27! But as this is Cape Cod, and the restaurant proclaims itself a "seafood shack," I expected something special. I was given a cardboard food tray more than half filled with French fries, and a sad little pile (about a cup) of fried fragments that may or may not have at some time been part of a clam. They were essentially bits of fried bread crumbs. Even assuming there was some clam in these chips, there was not a single clam belly! Basically, I paid $27 for a paltry serving of what you might find at the bottom of the "Seafood Shack" fryer at the end of the dinner rush. What a breathtaking ripoff. read more

I went last night for beers and an early dinner. I had not been since last year and I wanted to support the new owners... And let's face it they have the best views on the Cape! There was a man there running around I'm guessing he was the manager but from what I can tell he did nothing but mingle with one table of customers thank God for Claire who is behind the cash register who seemed to be running the show though I am sure she is just a hired hand. We purchased a lot of beer seemed a little pricey but again we want to support them. Regarding the food we ordered their housemade tortilla chips and tomatillo salsa both were excellent but for six dollars one would expect more than 12 tortilla chips and a little plastic tub of tomatillo sauce we wound up getting two as the portions are so scrimpy. Two of us got the pulled chicken tacos and two of us got the fish tacos. The chicken tacos were delicious with a great flavor profile but the chicken was more cubed than pulled and again not a lot of food for $14 I left hungry. Ditto for the fish tacos-excellent, but not enough food for the money. I would think they would be comfortable in making their money on their beer and giving people a tad more food. Will I be back yes - but never to eat again I would go next-door to Brax Landing and have an equally decent meal but with leftovers! read more

Rather disappointed with my most recent visit. We ordered food to go, and it took about an hour to be ready. Staff was very distracted, and this is what made me the most upset- The main chef had a mask on, but didn't cover his mouth or nose. A kid putting food up to be served wasn't even wearing a mask. A couple other ones either didn't have it covering their nose or just weren't wearing them. We used to go here all the time, and their food was never great and they were relatively skimpy on the portions. I don't plan on returning. read more

This place has every possibility of a 4 star review - great location but mediocre food....EXCEPT they do not offer water in anything but single use plastic bottles. This upsets me so much = 1 star. Please offer tap water in reusable glasses. Don't kill our oceans, Dockside. #plasticocean would also be an add if they used metal silverware to avoid more ecological warfare. On the food side- lobster roll was best option. Lobster tacos are an expensive miss. Lobster meat mixed w salsa=meh. Clam chowder is fine but tastes more like a corn chowder w clam as an afterthought. read more
