New to the neighborhood, this laundry mat was recommended to me by a neighbor. The staff is friendly enough and I like the laundry card, but wish you could add money too it digitally (because who in 2024 in Chicago carries large amounts of cash on them to load the card?) It would also be nice if you could check the balance remotely. The machines are always filthy and always broken so the amount of usable machines (especially the large ones) are about half of the total number of washers. The dryers are also routinely broken and filthy. The ones that are working you have to keep an eye on to make sure the door doesn't open half way through the dryer cycle which stops the machine but not the dryer time clock. The dryers all have large dents in the dryer basket which means that strings on clothing get stuck in there and clothes come out with holes, abrasions and snags. read more

Why is this place always so dirty??? Why do a bunch of your tables used for folding have an old cheese scent? Why can't you keep clean presentable signage on your doors? You can pretty much lift up any soap dispenser lid in the place and it is COVERED in MOLD! Also the stainless on the machines looks like it hasn't been wiped down in months, its always covered in old spills and layers of dust. I ONLY ever see the staff just emptying the trash and dryer lint, then just standing behind the counter, so clearly they have plenty of time to keep this place clean and sanitary. Please have your staff take buckets of hot water with bleach with some rags and clean each lid on the washers daily. This is not a huge place, so it can definitely be done once a day. People washer their personal belongings here as well as baby items. The tables used for folding always have a gross old cheese type of smell. Why aren't they being cleaned with product on an hourly basis? Shouldn't laundromats always smell fresh and clean seeing they are filled with soap and fabric softener? Kurt P. is right, it is a laundromat, that is clean and efficient. For me, however, it goes a little further than that. One of my favorite services they offer is a fluff and fold for 99¢/ lb., which in my opinion is a really reasonable rate, especially since the service is as the name suggests, friendly. The clothes always come back as clean as whistle, folded and separated by category, and the staff has always helped me get myself back together for the trek home, since I have no car, and also little time to do laundry which means I bring in quite a bit all at once. For someone like me who hates grabbing quarters and running up and down stairs with baskets full of clothes, or worse yet, dragging all my husband's and my laundry over to a laundromat to sit and watch it for hours, this is an excellent option in my opinion, and a great location to take advantage of it. They even have a rewards program that reimburses you a little every time you spend your money there, so the more you wash your clothes there, the less you pay for getting them done. Since laundry is one of those things that has to get done in life, why not do so in an inexpensive, clean and friendly environment? read more

A couple of weeks ago, after over 2 weeks of the dryer being busted in my apartment, I had to give in and take my clothes in to be washed as I was leaving the next day for vacation. Even though they had received a HUGE load for their drop off service before I got there, when I told her I would need to take my clothes elsewhere as I needed them that day, she said she would make sure they were completed by 4:00 PM. Excellent job as my clothes were all nicely folded when I picked them up later that afternoon. 5 stars is for the fantastic customer service but also for the great job they did. read more

I am absolutely upset. I have done drop off service twice at this locations. The first time they forgot a bag we realized called and we're able to go get it the same day. No problem, one mistake not a big deal! We dropped off again on September 25th and got our clothes back, they are shrunk and some have bleach stains. Lastly, we are missing SEVERAL items. I'm missing two pairs of jeans, a towel, a pink sweater, and my bf is also missing some items. I went in yesterday cause I was on vacation and barely put my clothes away this weekend. Well, I'm upset because they don't have my clothes. They can't do anything about it because of how long ago it was (a little over three weeks) I know my fault, but still. They didn't even over a partial refund. He just kept trying to give me a credit to drop my clothes off again. Both times I spent about $100. And he was only offering a $20 credit!!! That to me is not fair at all. I'm going to have to replace clothes and clothes are not cheap. Very disappointed. Also, front desk lady was no help! Very rude because I wanted to talk to the manager. I have yet to find a laundromat that I actually enjoy going to. For that to happen, they'd have to serve cheap beer and cupcakes, and have an assortment of arcade games that actually work (like the laundromats of the 1980s). A laundro-gym is another possibility I could dig. I go to Friendly Wash out of necessity--not because I want to. They don't have a liquor license, or cupcakes baking in back. They don't even have arcade games. :( They do have wifi, which makes up for not having Pac-Man or Frogger. Note to management: To make visiting your establishment more tolerable, please fix the front doors. Is there really no one in Chicago that can repair your automatic doors? Having to pry them open while carrying heavy bags of laundry, or every time I go to my car, is very inconvenient. Also, please ask your staff to clean the insides of the machines once in a while. Though I appreciate being provided a washcloth to wipe away the pubic hair and dollar store detergent powder from the drum, I'd rather be spared the task. Thank you for keeping the rest of the place pretty spiffy. The employees are very helpful and friendly. The male laundry attendant (John? Johnny? The slender man with blonde hair.) is very welcoming, despite being busy sweeping floors or folding laundry. :) Edited to add: The doors have since been fixed. Thanks! read more

Love the automatic sliding doors so you don't have to try pull open a door while carrying laundry. Extra large dryers are awesome for comforters and sheets and only 5 cents more than regular size dryers! Washers are fairly priced and don't take too long. Free Wi-Fi and coffee and a water fountain are all nice freebies! read more

If one must go to a laundromat, this is the one to patronize. It's the cleanest laundromat I've ever seen. They have a zillion washers and dryers of varying sizes, and I have never had to wait for a machine. I like the card and rewards system. I like the free parking. Attendants are friendly and helpful. I've been coming here for a few years now. I always go in the weekday mornings & it is nice and empty. I recently met the owner & he is a really nice and humble person. He was super friendly to everyone in the laundromat & even offer to buy some kids snacks. I've never had a problem with the washer or dryers & the prices are reasonable. Felt very uncomfortable from the moment I pulled up to this place. I'm a black woman and came in here on a Wednesday night and from the time I stepped out the car mfs were staring at me like what am I doing here. As I came into the place people including the workers were still staring at me for no fucking reason. Made me very irritated and uncomfortable. I I used the washers the old school ones all the way in the back and felt they didn't get my clothes clean enough. They weren't timed long enough 20 minutes, really what the fuck. Then they scam you when you dry your clothes you get an initial 15 minutes for $0.35 and when you put your card back in to add more time they only give you 7 or 8 minutes instead of 15. Yuck! Bugs! My boyfriend and I have been doing laundry here for over a year and like that we didnt have to lug quarters around and that it was close to home. We just left tonight and will never be back again. COCKROACHES all over the floor under the washing machines. I felt so uncomfortable and had to leave and let my man finish up by just throwing all our stuff in the hamper to leave once it was out of the dryer. The big washing machines last only 15 minutes. It's supposed to last more if it is big. The place is in a really bad condition. Not recommended at all. I tried this place 2 weekends ago on a Friday night. Overall my experience was fantastic enough to write a review on here (Come on... reviewing a laundromat?) Here are some highlights; 1) First and foremost, the space is very clean & well-maintained. There were no signs of mildew anywhere, any machine that was broken had the appropriate sign stating such and the staff actually made a regular round of the place to tidy up. (I was there for over 4 hours, saw 4 rounds made). 2) The staff are ridiculously nice! I can't imagine working at a laundromat, dealing with other peoples' dirty skivvies & attitudes all day and still having it in myself to be polite. These staff are rock stars. 3) Plenty of things here to keep you occupied while waiting for your clothes-a few big screen TVs, vending, an abundance of magazines, free wi-fi and I saw 2 PC's with little kids playing some math game. How sweet! 4) They issue a money card vs. using loose change. Some of you who fear big brother may not like this, but you must enter your contact info on a screen i.e. name, address, phone and email. I think they deserve points for safety here, because many times I've witnessed riff-raff in laundromats, so this card tracking system coupled with security cameras really must have an impact. Additionally, you get bonus money when you add funds to your card (I added $22, got $4 free) 5) The hours are reasonable-6am til Midnight daily I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because... The cost for each machine is a very odd amount, like $4.46 for a larger washer. The only reason I could come up with as to why they do this, was to keep the customer thinking to themselves, "Well, I guess I should go back to Friendly Wash because I still have $1.18 (or some other odd amount) and I'd hate to waste money..." It's very tricky, yet very clever on their part. If the costs were rounded, like $2 to wash & $1 to dry, it'd be easier to get to a zero balance. I personally don't like feeling "trapped" by any company I do business with, but overall, it's not so bad considering they more than make up for such a tactic with their fabulous service & facility. *For those who are too busy (or too snooty) to wash your own laundry, they do offer a drop-off service for $.90/lb with a $10 minimum. I saw one of the staff members doing laundry for a drop-off customer and she was very diligent in her handling of the clothes. P.S. They also do fun monthly giveaways, like free $50 in laundry or free ipod, etc. They have a better rewards system than most credit card companies! Give them a try. read more
