I settled on popcorn caramel and baklava in a waffle bowl. An employee said that everything was made in-house. The price was standard considering that all was made there. The service was weird. I kept getting served after people who'd gotten there after me. My ice cream scoops were significantly smaller than my boyfriend's. Returning isn't high on my list of priorities, but I'm glad I tried them.

Initially I didn't see the mini cup option so I told her small but then I switched to the mini and she told me the cups are based on weight and not scoops - scoops are only for cones. The picture I took clearly shows the scoops per cup and nowhere in the store does it say scoops are for cones only. It wasn't a big deal for us and the ice cream is good, of course, but the customer service was very lacking. I definitely won't be coming back to this location.

This stuff is so good it's illegal in 49 states. It's subtle and perfectly understated by the chunks of cake mixed throughout. It's what keeps me coming back. My wife got a scoop each of the Peanut Butter Cup and the Cookie Monster. Both were absolutely delicious, as I can personally attest since I stole a bite of both. All in all, I can't wait to go back. Instead of turning around and heading back to New Orleans, we decided to drive south on Hwy. 23 for a ways. Like a beacon in a storm, we saw the sign for Dairy Dip and I knew that ice cream would have us all feeling better. This place has been a Belle Chasse staple for 50-60 years, and it screams nostalgia. And everyone who knows me knows I love nostalgic businesses. Although it doesn't appear spectacular from the outside, I hear the food they serve is top notch. This little roadside gem serves all kinds of classic foods like burgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, po-boys, nachos, malts, shakes, ice cream, sno-balls etc. It's all walk up counter service here where you pay and "eat outside, or in your car (if the times you are in are unprecedented)." (This last sentence borrowed from Yelper Marielle S.) As we had already eaten, we got dessert. I wish we hadn't eaten because I think we would have enjoyed Dairy Dip more than the restaurant we had just patronized, but I digress. My son got a regular vanilla cone, I opted for the classic dipped cone and my wife got the dipped cone with peanuts. The ice cream here is delicious and served at the perfect consistency and temperature. Simply stated, it was delicious. Next time, we're going to order burgers and onion rings and make it a meal. When we arrived, Jake (not from State Farm!) greeted us with a warm, funny, and friendly attitude that instantly made us feel welcome. Our food had just been packed up and Jake reassured us that our timing was perfect--it was hot, fresh, and ready to go. We had ordered several different sauce flavors, and he took the time to confirm that everything was included. When he noticed the BBQ sauce was unavailable, he didn't just apologize--he made sure to pack some in to-go cups so we wouldn't miss out. That kind of attention to detail and care is rare. Jake's exceptional demeanor made this pickup experience truly memorable. We're visiting from California, and this was our last quick bite before heading to the airport.
