This icecream spot has been on my list for awhile now. My son and I decided to give this spot a try and I sure am glad that we did . They had the most delicious icecream flavors. I love walking in and they have them posted right there on the board. They also let us try a few flavors. I tried the carrot cake and the honey. I ended up going with the honey. It was so good with pieces of honey. My son ended up going with the key lime pie. It also had pieces of key lime pie. The girl working was super friendly and patient too. Picked the first 2 flavors I saw because I had a hankering for something sweet and was in a bit of a hurry. The funfetti was absolutely delicious with its chunks of vanilla cake and true to its name - fun! The lemon blueberry was scrumptious - with the right balance of tart and sweet - with fresh blueberries perfecting the texture of every bite. The service was prompt and courteous. Ambiance is pleasant and suitable for families and friends alike. Got a double scoop because I thought the single would be too small and boy was I wrong! I had to share the double scoop with another person. Note that I am lactose intolerant (and will continue to eat ice cream, even if I pay heavily afterwards). For the first time, I had no issues whatsoever. And this is considering I consume the same quantity every time I frequent an ice cream parlor. For the price, quality, and the guilt-free consumption (given my lactose intolerance), this place is definitely better than any of the other niche ice cream shops in the city. Update: still love the cold brew and salted caramel. But I had the mini donut flavor today and it is my new favorite. Too bad I think it's a rotating flavor. Could this be better ice cream than creole? Sorry diehards, it absolutely is. Less selection, but much better tasting ice cream with creative takes across the entire counter. There is a reason they use metal spoons for tasting - perhaps to be environmentally friendly, but maybe it's because they have a superb product that would be done a disservice on plastic. The chocolate is... proper chocolate! Why is that so hard to find? Well they do it right at Lucy Boone's. The horchata and key lime pie flavors are excellent. My kids love the cookies and cream. After a disappointing experience at the Metairie location of Creole Creamery, we decided to try a new ice cream place out near the Garden District, where we had an impromptu pho dinner. We found Lucy Boone online, and hopped over since the reviews and photos looked good. Well, don't believe everything that you see online! The ice cream here really isn't very good, and our main complaint about it is that it's just not creamy. It has more of the consistency of a watery/diluted supermarket brand, and the flavors themselves aren't impressive either. Not trying to be mean--just being honest! Two of us shared their sampler, and we do have to say that we appreciated that as an option! The king cake was pure cinnamon, but the peanut butter nuddy buddy was really good--we'd say that was the best one of them all. The salted butter caramel was ho hum and the fourth flavor was so ho hum that we can't even remember what it was. Maybe nutella brownie?? Our daughter had the caramel in a cone and she said it was very small :( Oh, almost forgot to mention that on a holiday weekend, they had ONE person working, who was very sweet and clearly trying to do all the things. Needless to say, the place was pretty dirty and the (fake) marble tables weren't clean. The space is also kind of small and it doesn't seem like they've made the best use of it. While this place may look and advertise itself like an upscale hipster ice cream, it just does not deliver. We personally wouldn't recommend Lucy Boone, but it's not like you'll have a "bad" experience. It's just not worth it. read more
