The young girl working there was pretty apathetic while taking my order. The place was dead slow but somehow she managed to take about 45 minutes to make my drink. Clearly whatever was happening on her phone was more important than me. Based on the pricing and wait I was hopeful that my drink was going to be amazing. I called yesterday to ask when Brewhaha opens (we're in town for a wedding), and Pat let me know Brewhaha isn't a cafe. But, appreciating the essential nature of starting the day with a good cup of coffee, Pat and Matt offered to hook us up with a few cups of coffee since they would be up early preparing coffee for the local cross country meet. It's only about a 10-15 min drive, so we decided to give it a go. The store is very charming and clean. There is an ice cream counter with classic flavor offerings like mint chip, chocolate, and blue moon. They also offer artisan sodas (I opted for peach), and there is even a little boutique area with handmade lotions, local honey, and jewelry. The prices are very reasonable, and the scoops are generous. I could easily see this being our regular ice cream spot if we were local, and we will most certainly be back the next time we're in that neck of the woods.

The flank steak was tender and tasty. Prepared to a perfect medium and marinaded in a nice meaty broth. The chicken in the Lemon Chicken Piccata was overcooked, dry, resulting in a tough chew. I did enjoy the Mushroom Strudel. A moist dish with a tasty gravy drizzle. I would've liked to try the bread pudding with caramel sauce, but they apparently ran out. The other desserts were ok. They looked like they were hastily cut into slices and served on the thinnest of paper plates. I could tell those running the place were also a bit frustrated; they made their feelings rather vocal, easy for all seated to hear (that's like a major rule of restauranting: the issues in the back should never be exposed in the front, where the customers can hear.) One person in our party had Celiac but they forgot to bring out a gluten free appetizer, so the rest of us finished our appetizer before she even got hers. Probably not what staff was used to with everything at the same time, I get it, it just wasn't a very good start. It was also freezing to start inside and I kept my jacket on through the first course. Then it warmed up. Old building with radiators, also totally get that, but if the seating was staggered and that front door kept opening, it would have been miserable. After our drinks and appetizers, timing worked out on the rest of the meals. Everything was wonderful and the menu was so thoughtfully laid out. The only other snafu was our secondi course of pappardelle with wild mushrooms had no mushrooms in it, like zero. The gluten free dish had a ton of them and looked really good. It wasn't worth bringing up given the timing issues, and even without the mushrooms the pasta was absolutely delicious. Scallops were cooked to perfection, though if the risotto had saffron in it I couldn't tell at all. Still, I didn't leave one single scrap on ANY of my plates. Despite any issues, the staff was so kind throughout and they were all obviously rushing around trying to get everyone everything they needed. Great food, lovely staff, amazing ambiance -- yes, I'll definitely try to come back here if I'm ever out this way.
