    French Toast Breakfast
    Andrew G.

A slight trip back in time while visiting this place. The interior has the black and white checkered floor with classic red and chrome colored seating. You can go for a diner, lunch, breakfast, or dessert. I have yet to try the breakfast, but I've had the ice cream and the burgers. Ordered the firecracker burger medium rare. Which was not dry as another reviewer had mentioned. Also ordered a bowl of the Manhattan Clam Chowder. It wasn't out of this world, but I did enjoy it. Expect diner style food at this location. Ice cream can be ordered inside or at the outside window. Soft serve is good. They also have various sundays, milkshakes, etc. The ice cream is nothing to go out of your way for. There's nothing special that you wouldn't see at any other ice cream parlor. I'd say it's worth a stop if you're in town and if you're in the mood for once cream. For those traveling 9W, this is only a quick detour out of your way. You can literally see 9W from their parking lot. Classic cars use to gather in the parking lot various nights of the week. From what I've heard, there was a slight argument between the business and the customers who rode in with these vehicles. So they retaliated by no longer showing up.

Out of business. Too bad their food and service was terrific. I went way out of my way to eat there. Sorry they closed.

Service is so so. Not too friendly. Ice cream is not top notch. Save your money go somewhere else.

A few things appeared to have been stored away and sorta looks as if it's kinda shoved to the side. For example : soft serve machine. Not sure if some things are placed there because not in season purposes? I wanted candy corn, my husband got a rootbeer. We were both satisfied with what we got. All payments accepted. Parking is available along the side street. Friendly service.

There seems to be a candy store in almost every ocean side town I visit. I simply walk on by as i'm…read morenot the type of parent that lets my kids buy bags of candy. So when I saw one opening in Kingston almost a decade ago I just shrugged and kept going. After learning Dianne Reeder's story you realize this isn't your ordinary candy store. Yes they have over 400 kinds of candy you can buy in bulk and the store has your typical kitschy trinkets but if you look deeper it's where you find Diane's passion and empathy for others. She just wants to make your day a little easier and for you to leave happier than you came. Certainly this isn't hard when you're scooping Janes Ice cream and serving vegan homemade soft serve using Fruition chocolate and coconut milk. Even this is fairly common place in a world over run by NYC transplants expecting everything to be homemade and gluten free. Where Dianne is different, is her commitment to community. In 2005, Diane was the winner of the Microsoft/Bill Gates Start Something Amazing Award (a program honoring the unique and inspiring ways that people use Microsoft related technology to pursue their everyday passions) for her work bringing attention to food insecurity. Her passion for cooking and her desire to help others led her to find a nonprofit organization called The Queens Galley in Kingston. The work she did with the Kingston Farmers Market was instrumental in getting them to accept food stamps. Diane's mission to have people come together and break bread in dignity has now spread across the country. Her commitment even landed her a diner at the Whitehouse with President Obama. To add to her resume she graduated the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park while raising 3 kids and running the candy bar. But let's get to the point. Diane is a pillar of the community where everybody knows her name. But what about the food? Just sitting outside snacking on my freshly roasted nuts (still warm) sipping on my 72hr steeped Lavazza cold brew I'd say simply perfect. Don't miss the carrot cake doughnut topped with maple walnuts and stuffed with macerated pineapple. The passion fruit and blackberry parfait or those rainbow cookie tricolor doughnuts. They have a sweet for everyone! Kingston Candy Bar might not be the hippest spot on the block but the love Diane puts into her work is palpable. They hire high school kids, mothers, elderly folks who are on strict finances. To me that is very commendable. They also sell ices in boxes from the freezers (their own flaves like rocky road, neapolitan etc.) and their drink, snack, soda, coffee, bars, candy, rolls, buns, crullers are the best to be had: if you are visiting the Empire State (NEW YORK), chances are you'll encounter the Stewart's (based in NY) brand. Remember: they do refills (for a charge) on coffee (used to, at least), the ice creams are solid and each place has 3 tables to chill! Like other places Stewart's also serves fresh sandwiches, soups and sundaes. Browse around and meet locals - it's the New York (Stewart's) State way!! Review: 4

Thanks for being there a few nights ago. When a problematic situation arose in an UberEats order…read more(where the customer bought something that the restaurant couldn't provide), the customer turned his anger towards me, and asked me if I could provide it instead. To which, I knew I couldn't go back to the restaurant, and instead noticed your store open and knew instinctively what most Stewarts Shops carried and knew that this product could be found here. Although you were washing floors near the product, when you saw me head towards the wrong register (which would have been closer for the employee to ring it up on) (it was just a 2L Pepsi bottle), you communicated your intentions and performed to your best. I thank you. For being so close and open when I needed you, you shone in my darkest light. I know I don't walk into your particular store very often, but it was necessary. I still don't like your entry and exit points onto both Delaware Avenue and Broadway (there's no lighting onto Broadway) and it seems very confusing at this intersection due to the crisscrossing of yet a third road from a location nearby. I actually don't like this corner: cars coming from the 'Strand come up Broadway too quickly there and it can get interesting navigating. However, you shone your light at the entrance with LCD brightness that really provided me assurance that I'd be safe inside for a few minutes getting the necessary item. I asked for a receipt, and received it as asked. Thanks.

Some of the best mint ice cream with chocolate that I've ever tasted. So creamy. So cold. The diversity of flavor is truly relaxing to eat. Jessica was our cashier and she gave us great thick ice cream samples. Solid bites. I've never been served bigger portions, which is so cool. We tried a handful of flavors and she was so warm and friendly to talk to you. I also got the chocolate milk, peanut butter. It's not my favorite, and I feel like the peanut butter doesn't do anything to add to the chocolate milk. So I would not recommend the peanut butter. Jessica told us that their dairy is sourced from the local dairy farm that is awarded every year. They know their stuff!

Just love Stewart's. Big city goings-on here…read more This location's no exception. A bit smaller - and never humdrum! It's a super busy shop with wild eyed, sweet, knowledgeable girls behind the counters. They sell all the New York perks: coffee, hot dogs, chips, ice cream, burgers, soda. Really, it's a one stop for anything in your kitchen, garage, garden and grill, too. Though Stewart's is usually routine for everyone in this state. This brick shop is colorful, well placed (I highly recommend King's Pizza restaurant across the street!), lit up and the shop keepers take their time to color the placards, ads, prices, signs, holiday festivities and notes.
