It's a cute little cafe in the heart of downtown with plenty of room and a cute little coffee corner in front for those not interested in table service. The food was good the staff are super friendly and they work hard. The coffee was really good. Fudge was excellent. It's changed hands since we first started going there many years ago. We visit Fairbanks once a year for 2-3 weeks. This was probably our last visit to Fudge Pot. We ordered a sandwich and soup combo, delicious- the bread was probably some of the best sandwich bread I have ever had, just so fresh. A great tasting sandwich. We did Salmon Chowder, I was worried at first because not a fishy kind of guy. Pleasantly surprised as the soup was delicious and did not have an overpowering fish favor at all. This was one of the places my tour guide recommended. After walking around enjoying the local murals downtown, this was a relaxing stop. My sandwich and fruit were fresh, the service was quick and they even had cute decor and Irish music for St. Patrick's Day. I loved the artwork and appreciated it was one of the few places in Fairbanks not adorned with dead animal heads. Although I lingered for an hour during their lunch rush, eating and sipping my tea I felt welcome. Before meeting back with my tour group, I shopped and grabbed a sampling of a huge variety of fudge to enjoy for the remainder of my Alaskan trip. read more

Ok let me start by saying I know the world is expensive, but 4 sandwiches, a drink, a cup of soup, and one piece of fudge should not be $70. The sandwiches were delicious as well as the fudge. They also have lunch snacks and soft drinks and drinks in a cooler. There are also small tables and a big, sunny widow to sidewalk watch. I ordered the "Pecan Chocolate Fudge." It was $4.50 for a good size amount. It was definitely sweet and "fudge-y" flavored, and my piece didn't have a ton of pecan in it, mostly just on the top. This would be a fun stop for tourists that might be wandering around downtown, as they have touristy items like shirts and art and knicky-knacks and such. The fudge was fine, good. Just around the corner from the Ice Museum in Downtown Fairbanks, the Fudge Pot is a cute little shop with a wide selection of cheesy souveniers, local art, and fudge. Oh, and they have sandwiches and soups. The perfect combination, really. They have quite a bit of seating and it's all by huge picture windows, so you can see the park that is next to the river. Lovely view even on a grey drizzly day as it was when we were there this past week. When we entered and walked up the stairs we noticed that the special of the day was a french dip (my favorite!) so I was excited to try their offerings. Come to find out, this was the first day the kitchen had tried to make a French Dip. With that now in mind I can say it was a decent first time out, but I've definitely had better (on this trip and in general. Kenai's Charlotte's French Dip is still the best there is). There were three of us and we each got the special. For $11 we got a sandwich, chips, and a small drink. We looked around the gift shop, then proceeded to find a table and sit down. There weren't many people there for lunch, but we were there early. The girl who took our order brought them out. My lunchmates both ordered the pasta salad and it ended up with mixed reviews. It had a lot of vinegar was my understanding. I rarely like pasta salad so I did without. The Sandwiches came out and the au jus was very warm. The bread seemed fresh but it also seemed like the wrong kind of bread to be dunked into the jus. The portion was somewhat small from what I normally see as a French Dip so that was a little disappointing as I was hungry a few hours later (then again maybe I'm just a fatty because the other two were still full by the time we sat down for dinner). The chips are just your standard bag of lay's original potato chips. Not the worst meal, but certainly not a memorable one. However, they're called The Fudge Pot, and they do have a nice variety. It's a little spendy but worth it. So skip the special on the menu and go for the fudge. read more

This place has too many tables in such a tiny room. There's hardly any room to walk and your table gets bumped by every customer. Staff has a bad attitude.
