Corned Beef Hash

Really yummy corned beef hash!! The portion was huge and well worth the price. Tasted fresh and it was very filling. I would highly recommend it!! Great place to go after a dog mushing adventure in the morning.

I found The Cookie Jar while researching breakfast restaurants prior to my upcoming visit to Fairbanks. We were then told to come here by someone in Anchorage. On June 3, 2026 at 9:30 AM we made it. We were seated in the back room right away without reservations. The place was packed, which is always a good sign. After looking over the MANY choices on the menu, my wife and I both ordered the homemade corned beef hash, me with eggs over easy and my wife with scrambled eggs. We both chose the homemade 10 grain toast, which was very thick and was covered with butter, adding to its amazing taste. The homemade corned beef hash was terrific! I ate every bite (and it was a LOT of food). Our server, Rainey, was terrific, friendly, and answered all our questions. The restaurant had a very family-friendly vibe, was brightly lit, with a LOT of tables and booths. We also bought 3 of their homemade, warm, soft, chocolate chip cookies. Soooooo good! We chose semi-sweet chips, but you can also get milk chocolate chips instead. The Cookie Jar was featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, and there is a signed poster of host Guy Fieri as you walk in the front door. Would I return to The Cookie Jar on a future visit to Fairbanks, Alaska! Absolutely!! The food was great, the service was great, each person we spoke with at the restaurant was warm, friendly, and inviting, and the Corned Beef Hash was so delicious. Perhaps that is why The Cookie Jar is so highly ranked as a place to go in Fairbanks!

This is a really nice home style diner with fresh homemade baked goods. Apparently, The Cookie Jar is a popular local restaurant. We arrived at 11:15 am for lunch and the place was packed. So, be prepared to wait a bit for a table. This restaurant successfully combines a fresh bakery with a home style restaurant. The menu is full of homemade comfort food, and you can order breakfast all day. If their homemade chili is on the menu, you should order it. It is delicious, with finely ground meat, diced peppers, and great flavor with a bit of spice. I also tried their Chef Salad. It was large and fresh, with lots of cheese and meat. It was almost too much for lunch, but it was so good that I ate the whole thing. The staff were really nice and I strongly recommend The Cookie Jar!

If Guy Fieri recommends a place I guess I listen! Came here on a Saturday morning right as they opened at 7 AM. There were maybe 4 other groups at the same time, and by the time I left at around 7:45 the restaurant was maybe half full. The restaurant is quite big, cute diner vibes. I was seated quickly and given a menu, and I knew I wanted corned beef. A waitress came over quite quickly and asked for a drink order, and my meal if was ready. I got my drink quite quickly, and the corned beef took maybe 20 min--I also got it with eggs over easy and white toast. When it came out it was fresh and delicious! Great flavor, bread was buttered, and they had good spices and had ketchup, Tabasco, and salt and pepper as needed. I also got a cinnamon roll to go! I believe I ordered chocolate chip but seemingly got a plain one, but honestly, no complaints. I ate the roll later in the day but it was delicious (and quite big). Really good and worth a stop!

We loved this place that we had to come back one more time! Their Steak Potter Soup is what this place is known for. They were featured on Guy Fieri's Diners Drive-Inns and Dives! This place is more than cookies. Service is phenomenal. Kayla took great care of us. Ambience is homey.

Cute place. Service was helpful, always there and got everything correct. Walking in, my husband had a cinnamon roll craving which was gone by the time he finished this. Omelet was flavorful

Visiting Fairbanks & this place is a must to eat at! Went here on a weekday & it was packed but we got seated right away. Everyone was friendly. While it did take some time to get our food, it was worth the wait! Everything was delicious. I also got a cinnamon roll to go & it was delicious! Would go back just for the cinnamon roll!

Can I give more than 5 stars?! Amazing breakfast this morning at the cookie jar! Everyone enjoyed their meals and left feeling full and satisfied :) Our table got a BYO Scramble, Nolan's own, 2 country fried steaks, waffle platter, and I got the al la carte egg and bacon. Everything was flavorful, seasoned welled, and cooked to perfection, especially the bacon! Our waitress was sweet and wonderful! Definitely a place I will add to our must stop list for whenever we return to Fairbanks

The food and service was great! We had to wait a little longer than normal but they were very busy. We shared a ham and mushroom omelette, and a cinnamon roll with cream cheese and fruit topping with a side of bacon. It was almost more than we could eat!

I went to the cookie jar to put another checkmark on my Diners Drove in's and Dives scorecard. I picked up a dozen assorted cookies as a gift for my client. The cookies were pretty good and there are a selection of candies and peanut butter cups as well. I was told by the young lady clerk that many of the candies are not made in house. She was very nice and extremely helpful. The place is a neat little diner serving breakfast and lunch. One key thing was the large cinnamon rolls

Great little breakfast/ lunch place behind the car dealership. Service was friendly and wait time estimate was accurate so another positive. True diner atmosphere with a hustling staff. Wife love the stuffed cinnamon roll with bacon. She is still talking about the bacon. Enjoy!

So I chose this restaurant because it was recommended on yelp, and to be honest, I was disappointed. so to start off it was weird that the server never acknowledged the guy at the table. I mean, I appreciate the service, but it just seemed odd that she wouldn't offer anything to my guest. When we did finally get our meals, it was just bland. The food wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. I just didn't really get the praise that I was seeing on here.

Delicious and great portions! Drive between the dealerships to find this gem. May have a wait as it is very popular.

I ended up getting some tacos and my husband got a sandwich. Both of them had really good flavor. Could tell that a lot of ingredients are made in house. Though I didn't end up buying any I did see that they had an entire Bakery case with a bunch of gluten-free baked goods like cheesecake, custard cake, and some other stuff. We really enjoyed the glass roof as the snow was just starting to melt. It was kind of cool like we were in a half melted igloo. I would definitely put it on my list if you are gluten-free.

Landed on the BLT with salmon. The BLT actually came with a croissant as the bread, so it made it very easy to eat. Lots of bacon and the salmon went really well with the sandwich. Fries here are great too! Staff here are great! Since we came here near closing time, they actually offered us some of their leftover soup since it would have been tossed out. Definitely hate wasting food, so that offer was accepted very quickly. I didn't realize until after leaving why Blue Roof Bistro has its name. It's because...the roof is blue heh. Either way, worth the visit.

Lots of regulars came in and they automatically knew their orders. Food: The cup of gumbo was so much larger than I anticipated. I would not have ordered this had I known the size. I'm not sure if it had any seafood in it, since I couldn't taste or see any of them, but it was still hearty and delicious. The bison burger was good, but a bit dry for my taste, so I added a bunch of condiments to it. I asked what the buffalo chips were, which are potatoes with Cajun/buffalo style seasoning that's slightly spicy, so I opted for that and it was worth it, since they didn't have curly fries in stock. Overall I'd come back again, but maybe ask for the burger to be cooked medium rare, if that were an option. It seemed like a nice, friendly place to have good food with friends

Friendly service and it was so nice that they split our food onto two plates when we said we were sharing. The Alaskan skillet was great and a big portion of food. The kids enjoyed their pancakes and bacon, which they were nice enough to make just after the 11 o'clock cutoff time. We were very entertained by all the funny/sarcastic quotes on the walls. Would be a regular if we lived in the area.

When we arrived, we found out that you'd need a reservation to dine in the main dining hall, so we ended up going to the Saloon side where we had to find our own seats. We sat near the pool table, and the chairs were super unstable. The staff were fine but clearly seemed busy and understaffed. It took a long time for them to bring us water and take our order. I tried flagging the waitress 2-3 times when she was passing by and felt very ignored especially as I've made eye contact with her a few times. We ended up ordering the fried seafood combo and the seafood chowder, and it ended up taking at least 20min to come out (even the soup). The dishes were all very salty and definitely needed a lot of water to go with the food. Overall, definitely not a place to go before a flight since you might not be able to get in and out very quickly, and the food was really just alright for the price. Perhaps the main dining room experience would be better but I still wouldn't recommend it given the food quality and service.
