We were excited to find a place where you can sit and enjoy a sandwich and coffee. I ordered a breakfast bagel, egg cheese and veggies on a jalapeño cheddar bagel and my husband ordered the ham and cheese on a baguette. We also ordered a caramel macchiato and a plain black coffee. If you are dining in, they do offer a refillable mug and you can get up to three free refills. The drinks came out pretty quick and to be honest, we were very disappointed. The caramel macchiato tasted medicinal and the black coffee didn't taste like coffee at all. It put quite the damper on what to expect for food if our drinks were this bad. Our food came out shortly after we got our drinks. However, the baguette sandwich wasn't anything to write home about. It was dense and pretty dry. The bagel sandwich on the other hand exceeded my expectations. I didn't have high hopes especially after having the coffee and trying the baguette sandwich, but the bagel was perfection. The cheddar on the bagel was toasted and crushed to perfected, the cheese, egg, and veggie combo was fluffy and gooey. My husband agreed that the bagel sandwich was definitely worth it and would come back for. Customer service was nice, everything came out very promptly and fairly quickly. So Ive wanted to visit this place for years. Good bagel places are rare in Alaska. But I'd like to echo what others have said about this place- the bagels are good but the service is horrible. And I'd venture to say its intentional. The people who run this place are putting out some very bad, judgemental, shitty energy. The party I arrived with all purchased and paid for their items separately. After we left, we discussed our experience and we agreed that my feeling was not isolated. I ordered last and got some items to consume on site and a half dozen of bagels to go. I let the cashier know Id let their help chosing, but I would like to include a Rosemary Salt and to exclude sweet bagels such as Raisin. She confirmed my order. When I got home, I had no Rosemary and TWO Raisin. In hindsight I'm sure it was spite. She just seemed like that kind of person (mean girl, anyone?) My kids want to take me here every time we visit. Good little bakery and coffee shop that is always busy. Their bagels are good, but I wish they had more cream cheese varieties. Chive cream cheese is the most savory offered... would love a veggie or spicy offering... Kids always get bagel dog and they love it. Barista staff get drinks out quickly. I feel like they are served just a bit too cool as it's great you can drink immediately but they cool down too fast even covered. A lot of indoor seating available but it does get loud. Approximately three weeks ago, my 16-year-old daughter inquired about employment while visiting your establishment. She was told by a staff member that summer positions would be opening soon and that she should check back in a couple of weeks. Taking that guidance seriously, she followed up about a week and a half later by visiting your website. When she found no application available, she took the initiative to submit a message through the "Contact Us" page, expressing genuine enthusiasm for the opportunity and providing her contact information. Unfortunately, she received no response. She also attempted to follow up in person, but when we arrived shortly after 3:00 PM--well before the posted 4:00 PM closing time--the doors were already locked. Today, while she was in school, I decided to follow up on her behalf. I initially spoke with a staff member and politely requested to speak with a supervisor, clarifying that I had no complaint but simply an inquiry. After some hesitation, I was placed on hold, and the call was disconnected. When I called back, I was met with an abrupt response from another staff member who did not identify herself but immediately stated that there were no hours available and that you were not hiring. I calmly explained the timeline and the information previously given to my daughter. I also mentioned her efforts to follow up responsibly and respectfully. During this conversation, I was told that whoever informed her about hiring "was wrong," and that her online message likely went unseen because the individual responsible for the website had been out sick. As a customer, this is not information I could reasonably be expected to know, nor does it excuse the lack of communication. When I expressed that the situation reflected poorly on the business from a customer service standpoint, I was met with a dismissive and unprofessional remark--that based on how I was speaking, my daughter would not be hired--and then the call was abruptly ended. At no point did I raise my voice, use inappropriate language, or act disrespectfully. I approached this situation with patience and understanding, only to be met with discourtesy and a lack of accountability. This experience has been deeply disappointing. As long-time members of the Fairbanks community and loyal customers, we expected a higher standard of professionalism and respect. Moving forward, we will no longer be supporting this business and will be sharing our experience with others. While I understand that hiring needs can change, the manner in which this situation was handled reflects a broader issue with communication and customer service that deserves attention. read more

A rare gem in Fairbanks! Really enjoyed the quiche (although if we are calling a quiche salmon quiche, I think it should have a bit more salmon). I've been to Lulu's a couple of times. My boss would bring in bagels and cream cheese from there on Fridays. That's how I became addicted to the Honey Walnut Cream Cheese. That creamy, sweet, cheesy, crunchy spread is crazy good. The service at Lulu's is not as inviting. When I arrived at lunchtime, the bagel case was empty and there was only 1 Honey Nut Cream Cheese to buy. When I asked if there was more, I was told that they open at 6 am so if I wanted bagels, that was the best time to get them. How about if you're open for lunch, make more bagels and cream cheese to serve since you're a bakery? The selection available was broad, granted I showed up a few minutes after they opened. The quiche slices looked huge and delicious. I got a breakfast sandwich on the rosemary salt bagel, a brioche cinnamon roll to go, and drip coffee. Everyone I interacted with was friendly. Service was prompt. I appreciated the coffee mug with free refills if ordered "for here". The bagel was really good however, the sausage on the sandwich was bland. I consider myself a cinnamon roll fanatic. I was unfortunately very disappointed in the cinnamon roll. First of all, it has raisins and nuts amongst the roll and I guess I'm a purist when it comes to cinnamon rolls. There is also essentially no cinnamon sugar mixture throughout the layers therefore very little flavor. There's some at the bottom though. Finally, the frosting tasted like pure cream cheese rather than cream cheese frosting. Really enjoyed my lox and bagel at Lulu's Bread & Bagels. We visited Lulu's three times while staying in Fairbanks. It was one of the best breakfast spots in the town! It's also the only place I could find that served lox and bagel. As someone who loves salmon and was scouring Yelp for lox in Fairbanks, I was more than excited to se it on Lulu's menu. When you walk in, you can't miss the glass windows showing bakers pumping out freshly baked bread and bagels. I was a fan of all the bagels I tried and especially their lox with capers, onions, a tomato and scallion cream cheese. It was a super hearty, delicious sandwich that kept me feeling very full. The bagel selection was great and the breakfast sandwich I had was the perfect blend of toasted bagel, melted cheese and scrambled egg. My wife really enjoyed her cheese quiche, too. My first visit to LuLus was not a great experience. They had almost no bagels or pastries or bread and there was only 1 worker in the place. In LuLu's defense, it WAS 3pm. But I was still sorely disappointed at the utter lack of baked goods a Bakery had to offer. So I decided to give it another shot at redemption and decided to go for a morning visit. I was pleasantly surprised to find they had ay least 25 bagels in every type and flavor and there were tons a pastries and loaves of bread. I ordered a chai tea latte and a goat cheese veggie on sourdough. Both of my orders were finished quickly and tasted spectacular! The chai tea latte was rich yet lite and had the perfect sweetness. The sourdough bread on my sandwich was great - soft and delicious on the inside with a very crusty outside that gave a satisfying crunch when you bite into it. The goat cheese gave the sandwich such great flavor and the tomatoes and onions and lettuce gave it crunch and body and a freshness that all sandwiches need. I can say with certainty that I will be back here to enjoy some of the other treats they have to offer - but do yourselves a favor and only come before noon! read more

It is the only bakery in this part of town, and I am very glad it is here! I ordered black coffee, a whole wheat everything bagel with hummus, and a chocolate croissant. The coffee was delicious and served in a large hand crafted mug. The bagel and hummus were phenomenal! The hummus was hand made and even had chucks of beans in it. The bagel was toasted perfectly, and I love when bagels are more solid than chewy. The croissant was too buttery for my taste, but I know most people would love it for just that reason. I feel like I had a whole meal, and only paid $7.75, a super good deal for Fairbanks. The service was friendly and efficient. I will certainly return for more! read more
