I visited The Futile Bakery for the first time yesterday and I had such a wonderful experience. At 7:00 am, I was greeted with a smile & a friendly welcome. Since I was a first timer, I needed some time to browse the menu and they allowed me to do so and told me to let them know if I had any questions. I've seen the cinnamon rolls on my IG feed and they looked amazing so that was my first choice. I also got a red velvet cookie. The young man was so kind and gave me the cookie free of charge & also tossed in a sample of a strawberry scone. I had only eaten a scone once before and I really wasn't very impressed. This one changed my opinion of scones. It was not overly dry, it had great flavor and the icing was simply divine. The Futile Bakery is about a block away from my office. This could definitely become a habit.

This place continues to go downhill for me. I'm not woo'd like my first visit and leave thinking "eh." The employees never give me the warm and fuzzies and I don't feel like my business matters. The young girl who used to be there every time I came I haven't seen in a long while. I've mostly seen the same 2 staff members as of late. Their weekly menus posted on Facebook never match what I see in the bakery. I get items sell out, but when I look online I always pick a couple things I would like to get and then go to the bakery to get them. When I arrive usually the items I pick are usually not even on the menu for that week physically in store. They do write next to their menu what has sold out so I can see what was available. Sometimes I have arrived and not really wanted anything, but I have always picked some thing. The short breads are good, but I find that the majority of it is breading. I wish there was less crumble and a little more of the fruit compote. * the blueberry lavender (second shortbread I got) was significantly better as the employee gave me the slice with the least amount of topping and the lavender was a nice refreshing touch. The peanut butter brownie was my last choice from here. The brownies are good, but I find underwhelming. The peanut butter bites they put in them, however, were divine. They tasted like little buckeyes before they get dipped in chocolate. After learning that the owner doesn't even bake at the bakery and having underwhelming experiences with desserts and the staffs treatment and I just don't find myself drawn here anymore. It no longer has local business delicious charm.

They've figured it out and I'm so excited for them! Their production is up and staying with demand! My all time favorite thing to get is the bacon pimento cheese scone, they are perfectly crispy outside and flaky inside. I'm pretty sure one scone has a whole strip of bacon. Also today I tried the cookie butter cinnamon roll and it might be the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. Ooooh and snickerdoodle doozie..drool!

Definitely has the best cinnamon rolls in town! Most of my mornings begin with this goodness. Some of the macarons and cupcake flavors are melt in your mouth good! Not a big fan of the scones, as I find them a bit on the dry side. My only complaint is their hours (6am-1pm) and the fact that they are closed 2 days of the week.

A great selection of baked goods. Their cinnamon rolls are excellent and their menu changes weekly but there are always delicious rolls, scones, bars, breads, brownies and cookies to satisfy your baked breakfast needs or sweet tooth. I recently bought some cinnamon rolls, apple crumble rolls and a blueberry streusel bar while I had family in town and the family was so pleased. Also the staff was so friendly. If you would like to know what they are serving up for the week, check out their Instagram.

Very unassuming little bakery off Waller Ave that makes BOMB cinnamon rolls! They are moist and gooey with just enough icing. They also offer special flavors like Apple Pie, Grasshopper, and even savory selections (Monte Cristo, Garlic Parmesan) on the weekend. Be sure to get there early because they do sell out! Beside cinnamon rolls, they offer hot and cold brew coffee from local shops, macarons, scones, cookies, and cupcakes. During the holidays, they offer large-scale pre-orders perfect for feeding your whole fam a nice warm sweet treat.

What a fabulous bakery, and it smells heavenly when you walk inside. I want to live here! I indulged in a blueberry lemon scone and a traditional cinnamon roll. The scone was loaded with blueberries, and it was the perfect balance of fruit with a natural lemon flavor. It had a great crumb, not hard like most scones, with a sweet sugar glaze drizzled across the top. And that cinnamon roll- I'm always on the search for a good one, only to be let down time and time again. But I've finally found it! Most bakers over work the dough resulting in a tough, chewy roll. And most do too much icing as well. Daniel has the Midas touch! The texture was spot on with a robust cinnamon flavor and the ideal amount of icing. Note to self: must return to try a savory scone and other goodies. Make a note to yourself to swing by and try some of Daniel's delectables.

These days errands are an outing, so I thought I deserved a treat. I wasn't far from Futile and decided to give it a try. It's a very small space, with no showcase, just a rack of baked goods. There's a bistro table with 2 chairs, but I can't imagine wanting to stay. The bakery is no frills, very utilitarian. It's all about the baked goods. I bought a cinnamon bun. The name of the bakery seemed strange, until I ate the cinnamon bun and realized --- it's "futile" to resist.

Everyone has been raving about the cinnamon rolls at this place so I'm excited to finally try them! They are pretty delicious and I was lucky to get them fresh out of the oven. I did have to wait 20 minutes but I felt that it would be worth it and it was. My personal opinion is that I would love to have more white icing (I just love icing on cinnamon rolls). But the positive thing about not having too much icing is that you can really taste the cinnamon flavor and the true taste of the cinnamon roll itself. I only wish this place was open later in the day!

I had a coupon for a free cinnamon roll so decided to try this place on a Saturday morning. It was around 9:30 AM and there was a line 10 people deep. It's a very small place with no seating inside. There were three people working however they were out of several things. I ordered two cinnamon rolls and tried to get a green tea but they gave me a blue jasmine tea instead. It was odd drinking a Smurf blue colored tea but they added cream and sugar so it tasted ok. I took the cinnamon rolls to my parents and they absolutely loved them! So two suggestions for this place. I have no idea why they named it futile... Do they know what that word means? I hope this place lasts because they do make very good fresh pastries including scones And cookie sandwiches. Maybe change the name from Futile to something more positive? Also, they have a sign in front of the cashier that reads Please advise if you would like to add a tip. Good enough. There's also a large jar full of cash next to it. So then why the need for the cashier to announce to each person "Do you want to add a tip?". Maybe it's just me but I think that's over the top for a bakery. Of course everyone in line feels obligated so they are collecting 20% on each order. Good for them since it works but just leaves an icky obligated feeling for their customers.

Futile has quickly become the go to cinnamon roll destination in Lexington. I can attest they were probably the best cinnamon rolls I've had in town. Pillowy soft and just the right amount of cinnamon and icing. I also tried their Apple and pumpkin which are good but just a notch below regular cinnamon. They seem to still be figuring out how to adjust to the customer load though so prepare to possibly show up to a sold out sign or a long wait.

My friend absolutely loved it and I had a small piece of it and again it was buttery and flaky as it should be. And as big as it was we both felt 6.50 was a reasonable price. The opera Cake was chocolatey and had a hint of coffee flavoring in it the filling was light and fluffy. Overall it was really good! I also think it would be helpful if they added signs or names for the individual cake slices, so customers know what they're choosing without having to ask.
