My boyfriend and I enjoy checking out local trading card game stores and we wanted to check out some stores that we haven't been to. We had stopped by Kent for a meal and decided to check out The Game Shelf as they weren't too far. The parking is huge and shared with a lot of businesses and it was Friday evening, so it took a little bit of time to find parking. Once we parked, we entered into the store and were greeted politely by the cashier. There was a Magic the Gathering event going on and it looks like their events calendar always has something going on each day which is great. They even did Final Fantasy TCG which we have yet to see anywhere else and we have been to card shops in several parts of Washington. They had quite a massive selection of wares from desk mats, card holders, sleeves, deck boxes, board games, dice, and much more. We bought a few things and as we were checking out, the cashier mentions to us about their reward system which is a character sheet that you can fill out and there are six slots that they will add up from each amount you spent. Depending on how much you spend will determine your discount which I think is really neat and unique from other card shops. It rewards you no matter how much you spend rather than a point system that could take more than a few purchases to accumulate. I also asked if they were dog friendly and they are, they just ask that your dog is well-behaved, don't make a fuss or bother other patrons, and to clean up after them. read more

This place is amazing. Has everything you need for D&D, to start and grow your campaign. Absolutely love it. I went in 5min early as the door was unlocked. I felt bad because the person working there was clearly chilling and I felt bad to disturb their morning relaxing time before they started work. They still greeted me and were friendly and kind. Helped me choose the first D&D book I need to begin my adventures. Super excited and absolutely love this place. Highly recommend. Every Friday at 7pm is D&D night with a group who are willing to teach you:) they have events and other games there as well that people come to play. They have a fridge with drinks as well for purchase and games you can play off the shelf. read more

Owner is rude. Makes promises and then breaks them to his regular customers. Prioritizes Magic the Gathering events over all other customers. Expects his paying customers to cater to Magic players regardless of how much money they're spending on Minis and RPGs. Jason knows us by name, even though we dont frequent the shop nearly as much as we would like. The employees always engage and ask if we need help finding items. The store is always clean and has good lighting, plenty of tables for open gaming, a community board to help find players, and a great selection of all game types; board, table top, wargame, TCGs, you name it. read more

If you're a nerd in South King County, this is your shop. The staff are fan-freaking-tastic, they are super responsive and helpful on their Discord server, and even nicer in person. They have a wide selection of board games, TTRPG, card games, Magic the Gathering, minis, and so forth and so on. If you're into D&D or Pathfinder, join in on Thursday evenings. I randomly drove by this place. It's a small table top game store with half of it dedicated to letting you play the games on tables they have setup. You can buy games, game peices, paint, dice, etc. It was a hot day and the A/C was working well! It's not a place I would utilize but I hope the for the business. read more

One of the best game shops I have been to in a very long time. Lots of play space, really knowledgeable staff. Name a game and someone here has probably played it. The regulars for the most part are friendly and willing to teach and learn new games. Jason, the owner, is very customer centric and has a if I don't have it I will get it for you if I can kind of attitude.
