Went here for a birthday party and all my boyfriend and I could order was the fries side and salad with basically no toppings. Probably best to just find somewhere else if you're plant based. Morgan's Tavern & Grill was one of the first restaurants we tried after moving to the New Bern area…read moreand it has quickly become one of those places I find myself recommending to people and coming back to again and again. It's a great mix of casual and slightly upscale without feeling stuffy. It can work for a family dinner or a casual night out. There's just something familiar and comfortable about it. We've both dined in and ordered takeout several times and the service has consistently been wonderful. Our servers and everyone handling our takeout orders have always been incredibly sweet and kind. I will say the hostess experience wasn't the best during our first couple of visits, but thankfully that hasn't reflected the service we've received otherwise. The burgers are AMAZING. I've tried the Bear time Burger as well as the blue cheese burger, which is definitely rich but still so good. The ribeye was absolutely delectable. We've also had the crab dip, which was really flavorful, although a little mayo rich for my personal taste. I'm not crazy about their regular fries but I love that they offer sweet potato fries instead and the cinnamon sweet butter they come with is so good. I also love the croissants they bring out instead of regular bread. They're always warm, delicious, and nearly impossible to resist. Overall, Morgan's has become such an easy go-to for us. The menu has enough variety that it's especially great when we have visitors because everyone can usually find something they'll enjoy. Whether we're dining in or just grabbing takeout, it's one of those places I'm always happy to go back to.

Ceilings were covered with draping American flags that had a cool visual effect. They have an extensive whiskey menu and a nice selection of local brews on tap. I tried one of the local brews: Beerista, a white stout from Shortway Brewing Company. It had a good nose of coffee and vanilla but it wasn't carried through on the sip. It was a lot lighter in texture than a traditional stout. For food I had the short rib. It was seasoned well and was super tender. The side of potatoes were tasty but on the border of being too salty. Green beans were average. They were good to counter the saltiness from the potatoes. I'd probably would give this place another shot if nearby.

My sister in law got the pork pot stickers, the appetizer for her main meal and hers came out after everyone else's was served by 12 mins or more. the wings were salty. My brother got the reveille and it was delicious. The jalapeno poppers were good, just need to be cooked a little more. I was sadden that I took a group to try it before I tried it prior. Would not try again unless had a coupon in case it ends up the same service way

Follow up!!!! So I…read morehad posted this review once and got an email from Yelp that they were removing it with no explanation as to why other than to say it appeared I was never at that establishment. Let me be very clear. I've been to this restaurant three or four times and none of them were exceptional. Most were OK. But the visit in question was quite bad and exactly as I had previously described. So I'm simply going to repost that same review here because it was very accurate to my experience and if anyone challenges as to whether or not, I was actually there I still have the receipt because it was a business trip and I can verify it Came by kind of late on a Tuesday. So had a very limited selection for menu options. Ok I get that. So - Fried anything or nachos that was it. Ordered a Mich. Ultra - never said bottle or draft. Didn't care. She gave me a bottle. The beer was Luke warm at best. So then I chose the Nachos. OMG. What is that stuff they call cheese!?!?!!! It was the texture of hummus and the color of a banana milk shake. Bad taste - very bad - and worse texture and smelled awful.. Nachos were NOT good not even a little bit!!! So then I asked about the warm beer. No apologies or effort to resolve it. Just a - "would you like another one?'" I asked - if it could be cold I would. She said you wanna try a draft instead!? So I said again - as long as it's cold - OK. It was warmer than the first one. WOW. So disappointed. Service was not great. But it was late. I hardly touched the Nachos. No questions - like were the nachos ok!? Or Would you like a to-go box. No concern as to why I didn't eat them. Just pulled them away and threw them away. But my bill was full charge. 2 beers and the nachos. I had about 4 chips and about 3/4 of one beer!!! I couldn't get out of that place fast enough. They were more interested in their crowd of friends who were gathered in a corner table and their plans to go out after that place closed. Very disappointed in this my 3-4 visit there. May be my last. Wow!

Didn't happen to us, but when we arrived, there was indeed a train sitting there, and some cars in front, well, they weren't going anywhere anytime soon. Inside is all vibes, kind of set up like an old pharmacy, but slinging cocktails instead, and I have to say, the cocktails were very tasty and well priced. All the tables were full of friend and family groups playing board games and enjoying various flatbreads and libations. Seems like the kind of place the local neighborhoods enjoy and spend quite a bit of time at. At the moment, can't remember the names of the cocktails we got, its been a few months. But I do remember the toasts. This place doesnt have a kitchen in a traditional sense, more like a prep area where they bring ingredients together (that I imagine are made off site) and toast it up to present you with some pretty unique combos and flavors. Honestly, a great way around some of the health code restrictions that start to apply to more in-depth operations while still having a robust menu. We ordered a variety for the 4 of us, as this was dinner that evening. Gettin Figgy with it was a favorite, as were the Pig and the Goat, and the Reuben. Their version of a Cubano was alright, but as could be the case you'd imagine, the pork was a little dry. The caprese was the only one we got that seemed to be a universal thumbs down, the avocado spread wasn't working with the other ingredients. Definitely would come back for some of these toasts, and drinks!
