    Chips with Gorgonzola Cheese

Quaint little spot near downtown York. A hidden gem really. Large private lot for parking. Little shop to browse while you wait for a table. We had a reservation so we were seated almost immediately. The service is second to none. Simply fantastic. Very attentive and friendly. The food is above average. On this trip, we got the chips and Gorgonzola cheese dip app. Very good. The chips are very unique and the dip is excellent. For my main, I got the ribeye. It was very good but so easy to make better. 1. Instead of a very thin steak - 1/2" maybe, go with 3/4" minimum. 2. Offer better sides. It came with potato wedges. Just basic fries. Not great. Serve with a vegetable. Perhaps some broccoli rabe or Brussels sprouts. 3. It comes with Cajun butter. Nowhere near enough for a 16 oz. steak. The wife got the filet and she liked it very much. She also got the caramel apple pie. Very deep. She said it was excellent. I do recommend this place for sure.

This was our first time at Garden Café, and we went with friends who are regulars--and now we understand why. The place has a charming, welcoming vibe that immediately makes you feel at home. Our waitress was friendly and carried that unmistakable Southern charm that really elevated the experience. As for the food, I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. Overall, a great first visit and definitely not our last.

The atmosphere is cozy, low-lit, and perfect for date night, a celebration, or honestly just when you want a really good meal with phenomenal service. It's not huge, and judging by how packed it was when we arrived, I'd definitely recommend reservations. We had one of the later seating times near closing, but the place was still buzzing. There's even a second room with a gorgeous long bar that gives off upscale neighborhood hangout vibes. Service was flawless from the start. We were seated immediately and had water in our glasses within minutes. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and somehow had us in and out in about 40 minutes without ever making us feel rushed. That's an art form. Drink-wise, my boyfriend was happy to find some local beers after our brewery-hopping adventure earlier in the day. I ordered a cocktail that sounded good and asked if they could make it spicy... maybe throw in some jalapeños or something. They didn't just accommodate, they elevated. They swapped in a spicy-infused spirit, and it paired perfectly with my wood-fired roasted corn pizza topped with cilantro and jalapeño crema. Absolute flavor bomb that paired perfectly! My boyfriend's meatloaf with mushrooms and mashed potatoes was equally impressive. No notes, just clean plates. We started with the ceviche, and it was outstanding. Fresh, bright, and so flavorful that we started dipping our homemade pita into it. Speaking of the pita, that was honestly my only minor miss (and it wasn't even a miss lol). As a carb enthusiast, I wanted a little more salt and flavor, but that's nitpicking in what was otherwise an exceptional meal. Hearth & Herron is the kind of place every small town wishes it had. Thoughtful food, top-notch service, and an atmosphere that punches way above its weight class. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in Hendersonville and recommend you do the same!

Totally yummy. For a side I had a substantial bowl of collard greens ($6), done perfectly. Wife had the meat loaf ($15) which was two large hamburger-sized pieces, wrapped in bacon and with a delicious sauce. She did not share them with me. One of those pieces came home with us. Continual iced tea was served for $2. A bit of history is in the hallway of the Kounter building. Nine Black college students served nearly 30 days detention on a prison farm after staging a sit-in at this South Carolina Whites-only restaurant in 1961. On a visit to Kounter in December, I was told by a waiter it's not uncommon to see some of the Friendship 9 eating at the restaurant. Drop by to ogle the menu and take in the historical display. Very interesting and a good insight as to where black people were back then.

Waitress just didn't follow up. My water sat unrefilled for a long time. Fried okra didn't taste like okra - but that suited a few of the party. But a few of us expected okra flavor only to be disappointed. Temp on the fried green tomatoes should have been warmer but overall it was very tasty. Our appetizer empty plates sat for a while - we even stacked them so it was clear they should be cleared. Ordered the salmon, which was good, but so did my mom. We ordered different temps and they couldn't tell which was which. Wife ordered a salad and for the price, there was barely anything there. Mac and cheese is still the star. Oysters were decent - I expected larger. The half chicken was a generous portion - nice crispy outside but a bit dry inside. I wouldn't order it (I almost did, but my one of our party did). One of our party ordered a stuffed leeks and it was so salty it was inedible. They did fix it and admitted it should have never left the kitchen. By the time the replacement came out it was after 6:05 (and they had to leave at 6:15). So they didn't get to eat their celebratory meal with the rest of us. Not the memory you want for a meal. Desserts were good. Tort was dense - honestly not sure if that's normal. Crème brûlée was very good. For a $400+ experience and our history with Pump House, I expected more.

I'm amazed that there aren't more people who DON'T live in the neighborhood who aren't taking advantage of the restaurant. I'm even more amazed there isn't more traffic since they got Chef Larry. Larry is very good. He's laconic and somewhat intimidating, but Chef Larry is a CHEF, and you'll enjoy what he and his staff bring out. Larry is a treasure, in other words. You need to try them, but you need to call in advance to make sure they are serving when you want to arrive. To the immediate north of Greenwood, SC, as you come in on US-72, about 10 miles from Greenwood's town center, there's nothing that compares to Bermuda's for dining, and on any side of Greenwood, the restaurant at Bermuda's should be a destination restaurant for those of you who've missed out on it. Perhaps it's because Stoney Point isn't near the hotels in Greenwood that there's not much traffic here. Bermuda's IS a restaurant at Stoney Point that's open to the public, you'll have to look for it, and it's on par (pun intended) with the best restaurants Greenwood has to offer. Hell, I don't play golf, and I like it here. I don't understand why there isn't more dining traffic at Bermuda's from locals, other than the fact you may not know if you can get in because of a party that's rented the place, or even what their hours are. The chef (and his staff) are some of the more creative in the Greenwood area, the service (even if you don't live here) is outstanding, and the dining area and bars are cozy and friendly. This place may be the most well-kept secret restaurant in Greenwood, and I'm not sure if they want to keep it secret. If they do, I apologize. The kitchen is always willing to get creative for my vegetarian requests, depending on what they have: for those of you who are carnivores, I'm told by colleagues and friends that the meat-based dishes are outstanding. Indeed, Bermuda's is the first choice for my company's business dinners and meetings, since most of those include people looking for a good meat. You SHOULD call them in advance before visiting: the restaurant is usually only open at certain times (typically, dinner on Friday and Saturday, and Thursday night happy hour; they usually have lunch Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday), and when the place is reserved for a party, wedding, reception, or whatever, there may not be dining service. As I mentioned, I live here, and I've walked up to the clubhouse several times only to find that I should have read my newsletter. As of this review, Bermuda's has been offering lunch on Saturday.

After swapping presents we went down to the restaurant for dinner. It was pretty packed and we were concerned we wouldn't get a table, but the staff allowed us to move chairs around to make room for the 11 of us. Everything about our experience was great. Toya and Brandon were our servers and both of them are excellent at their jobs. They were friendly, engaging, fast and efficient. Somehow with a packed dining room and only a few servers on the floor they were able to keep us all happy and well served throughout the meal. Toya even went the extra mile and had the kitchen send out my daughter's and young nieces' meals first so they wouldn't have to wait or become impatient. The kitchen worked smoothly with us to provide delicious meals for a few members of our family who have gluten and dairy intolerance. All of the food was well prepared and tasty. My sister tried a margarita and said Toya mixed it to perfection. I also wanted to note how clean the dining room (and all of the hotel) is. This is my second stay at the Cambria and it won't be my last. This kind of overall excellence in service and quality deserves repeat business.
