    Flipside Shrimp and Grits
    Klaus C.

Very unique restaurant in OldTown Rockhill. The menu is very good. I had the Shrimp and Grits, and I know you think big deal, but they definitely put a spin on the dish and it is delicious. Also, the avocado and ricotta bread is over the top. The service is excellent, the environment is comfortable. Plus you can stroll through OldTown after you eat. Well worth the trip!

We stopped in here without a reservation this past Saturday night around 6:30 pm, and luckily, we were quickly seated in the back room (the main room was full). We've dined in the back room twice by now, and we noticed that the service is MUCH slower. We waited a good 10-15 minutes before the waitress came to our table! For drinks, my husband had beer (as usual), and I tried their "Pineapple Express". Frankly, the drink was a bit weak in terms of alcohol...and tasted just OK. Also, the waitress accidentally spilled some on the desk. Oh Well? We ordered the Avocado Pull Apart Bread for appetizer...which was our second time, and was really good. For the entree, my husband ordered the BBQ Baby Back Ribs, which he seemed to enjoy...and I tried their Blackened Salmon Pasta. For the first time ever at Flipside, I did not like this dish. It was WAY too salty, and I thought it could have used a bit more veggies (not just tomatoes and a tiny sliver of spinach). In a way, I was surprised how little I liked this Salmon dish. I say this 'cuz I always tell everyone how EVERYTHING at this restaurant is so on point. Surprisingly, not the case this time. The kitchen staff really needs to rework this dish...it's just WAY too salty....and too saturated in grease. Obviously I will not order this again. Still this restaurant is probably our favorite in town. While I'd normally drop 2 for the food and drink experience I've had, I'm going to go with 3 stars...only because I know other dishes here are great. I just know now not to order this Salmon dish. Sorry, but I have to be frank about my experience!

Had a wonderful time here for brunch today. Cool atmosphere. Not overly crowded like so many brunch places on the weekend. Nice balance between southern diner and modern eatery. Sat at the bar. Matt and Eric were great! Food was fresh and well prepared. Only knock is I would've wanted my grits warmer and with a creamier consistency. But the flavor was there! Omelet was solid with large roughly cut vegetables and fluffy eggs. My acquaintance enjoyed his truffle mushroom bowl. Hearty and rustic. I snuck a few of his potatoes, and they were nice and crispy on the outside; tender inside. Oh and you must get a biscuit! Trust. Eric suggested we also come back for dinner. And we will.

We searched Yelp for restaurants in the Rock Hill area and decided on Flipside. Great choice! We visited on a Tuesday evening so they weren't busy at all. Our server was friendly and attentive. Food was outstanding! We had the coffee barbeque ribs (fell right off the bone) and the fried chicken. The only think I will say about the chicken is I wish it had more gravy. (I could have asked but didn't-I was enjoying everything else lol). Try the peach sangria too if you want a refreshing summer drink. Definitely make this a stop if you're in the area.

The flipside burger- minus pimento cheese with onion and bacon jam with fries.

This place was good- it has a different taste of flavor. The honey mustard and ranch is good. My burger was juicy- I just didn't taste any seasoning on the meat- but I did not get the pimento cheese on it- so maybe that a small difference. The bacon and onion jam I thought would have a good balance of sweet and salty- but it was more on the salty side and a bit dry. The messy fried chicken sandwich- my hubby said it was really good with the maple mayo- balanced the heat nicely. The pancakes were huge- they were good. It was something different about them- but it could've been the maple syrup- which is what we not used to eating. The menu is vast and our waitress stated that it changes quarterly. They stayed busy- which is good. Everyone was nice and patient with a party of nine. The place has a downtown feel. Comfortable and clean.

I got the Avocado steak toast. It was ok. Not much steak on it and no flavor. The avocado tastes too vinegary. Got a 4 star because my boyfriend loved the lobster omelet, the prices are very reasonable, and the waitress was beyond upbeat and friendly, and service was fast.

Stopped in with Krissy and the girls before Brody's soccer game in RH. Flipside is a great local business. Both my girls ordered off menu; avocado toast with a fried egg, one added bacon and the other added fried potatoes. My wife BLT and I decided to try the Southern Chicken monte Cristo I'm curious how they charge for my daughter's meals considering they have a steak and salmon avocado toast. Waiting for our meals...... The meals were good, but my hunch was right. The price was not. They charged for the steak avocado toast because as a told in a Condescending tone, "There is no button for plain avocado toast". Okay! sure! The main ingredient is not there and it makes perfect sense to charge for the price for the menu item because there is an "easy button" to push on the register. That was a BS answer from a manager that needs to learn something about empathy. This is not my first visit, but may be my last to this location. I have been here numerous times over the years for both work and pleasure and this location has disappointed my previous 2 visits. I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses, but this location has not lived up to expectations recently. When our meal after getting the condescending manager to adjust the price was still over $100 for 2 teenagers and 2 adults for breakfast, I'll take my business elsewhere.

We came here for my mom's birthday and the food was decent. I am a foodie so my standards are high but the food and price point was decent! The service is always really good but I feel like my entres were just okay. It's southern fare which is good, just think that the cook on certain foods could be better. The atmosphere is rustic modern and the apps and drinks are good.

Good old fashioned cheeseburger with onion rings (minus the gum lol)
    Tiffany P.

Hubby and I decided to support a local restaurant that was less than 2 miles from our house. Never thought about this place until I searched for a good old fashioned cheeseburger. No pork, no fries, no onions rings, nor any eggs added to it. Just cheese, lettuce, onions, pickles and tomatoes! Some ask, "Where's The Beef?". Well Flipslide has it. This burger did not disappoint. Real beef and cooked to perfection. Not overcooked or undercooked. Of course they had their "signature" burger on the menu, but you could customize it anyway you liked with no problems! The staffers were super duper friendly. Great service and great food equals a perfect combination. The only Flipside of the story is that they close at 9pm and don't have imported beers.

We were a little confused as to how to enter the restaurant, but I chalk that up to being tired. The space is wide open and airy, with large windows and skylights. The restaurant was nice and clean, save for something that was splashed on the wall in our booth - but it's a restaurant. There's going to be little picky things here and there and I'm sure it was wiped down by the end of the day! Our hostess was also our server and she was so knowledgeable about the menu. I took her suggestions at every turn and did not regret it. We started off with the Bang Bang Brussels Sprouts app and let me tell you - I could've eaten that as my entire meal. They are SO delicious and I'll be dreaming of them until I can return to Rock Hill. Holy cow, they were good - crispy on the outside, loaded with flavor and just enough spice to give the sweetness a little bite. So good. My husband had the country fried steak and he said it was very good. Not the best he's ever had, he said, but good enough. He wished there'd been more steak and less crust, but the flavor was right on. They were out of the salt and pepper flounder, so I changed my order to the ranch chicken. Ummmm....excuse me. Who says not to order chicken breasts at restaurants? The portion size is SO generous and the chicken is SO DELICIOUS that I, the girl who rarely bothers to take leftovers, boxed up what was left and brought it back to my hotel and ate it as a midnight snack. The grilled zucchini served on the side of it was delicious. If I ever get back, I'll ask if I can skip the potatoes in favor of more of that zucchini! We didn't really have room for dessert, but when we heard about the warm banana pudding, we were curious. DO NOT SKIP THIS DESSERT. If you're a banana pudding fan, this will blow your mind. Absolutely incredible! It's both warm and cool at the same time, caramelized bananas and a torched meringue topping were bowl-licking delicious. All in all, this was a fantastic experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We started things off with the Louisiana Shrimp Toast and the Bang Bang Brussels Sprouts--both packed with so much flavor and the perfect way to kick off dinner. We also had to take advantage of their $2 frosé, which was absolutely perfect for these warmer days. For my entrée, I went with the Parmesan Ranch Chicken served with the most perfect mashed potatoes--comfort food at its finest. My husband ordered the Salt and Pepper Fried Tilapia with grits, topped with the most delicious tomato stew that had us both sneaking bites from each other's plates. Everything was absolutely delicious, and we already know we'll be back... because I still need a slice of that peach cheesecake! If you're in Rock Hill and looking for your next dinner spot, this one is definitely worth the visit!

It was a little dark though it was more quiet than the sunlit front. I ordered the Old Town Cobb and my husband ordered the Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf and a Caesar salad. The focaccia croutons in the salad were out of this world delicious and different. Their flavor of the croutons burst in our mouth. The meatloaf's presentation was superb. Hubby said he would order meatloaf again. I had a bite and it was crispy and smoky tasting. My husband ordered 2 beers and the bill was under $50 which we thought was a good value. Pros: water served in glass tumblers. Menu is very creative. Food is really delicious. Location. Plenty of other spots to grab a coffee, tea or hot chocolate while walking around Main Street after eating. Cons: tomatoes under ripe in Cobb salad. Caesar salad dressing was more sweet than anticipated. Depending when you come, parking will be challenging if a person is unable to walk. Parking is generally plentiful around downtown Rock Hill within a short walk. Verdict: Both dishes were good. Would come back and would order them again.

On the menu for today I chose the Blue plate Special ($23) OG, bacon wrapped meatloaf, swirl potatoes, veggie du jour, stewed, collards, steakhouse, vinaigrette, cilantro Crema. The dish was Tender medallions of meatloaf, wrapped in savory bacon. Topped with a steakhouse vinaigrette, tangy, and savory, which had an amazing flavor by itself, I just wish it added more to the main. Which was slightly bland. Unfortunately, this cilantro Crema had no hints of cilantro. The actual star of the show is the collard greens. The Collard greens has a subtle kick, which is amazing and flavorful, and gives that little extra punch. Hand slammed fries ($5) Parmesan - rosemary dusted, roasted tomato malt vinaigrette. Tasty especially with their house made ketchup, but unfortunately, the fries were a little on the soggy side. And a Blake's cider (5). crisp and refreshing. Perfect for a southern Carolina afternoon. Overall, food was delicious, but could use just a hint of attentions to flavor. I would definitely recommend you give Kounter a try. We ordered different temps and they couldn't tell which was which. Wife ordered a salad and for the price, there was barely anything there. Mac and cheese is still the star. Oysters were decent - I expected larger. The half chicken was a generous portion - nice crispy outside but a bit dry inside. I wouldn't order it (I almost did, but my one of our party did). One of our party ordered a stuffed leeks and it was so salty it was inedible. They did fix it and admitted it should have never left the kitchen. The price was great but regardless of price I expect a good meal. At a roasting place I expected the chicken to be falling off the bone or at least be cooked to a temperature to breakup the connective tissue and this was the opposite. Toya and Brandon were our servers and both of them are excellent at their jobs. They were friendly, engaging, fast and efficient. Somehow with a packed dining room and only a few servers on the floor they were able to keep us all happy and well served throughout the meal. Toya even went the extra mile and had the kitchen send out my daughter's and young nieces' meals first so they wouldn't have to wait or become impatient. The kitchen worked smoothly with us to provide delicious meals for a few members of our family who have gluten and dairy intolerance. All of the food was well prepared and tasty. My sister tried a margarita and said Toya mixed it to perfection. I also wanted to note how clean the dining room (and all of the hotel) is. This is my second stay at the Cambria and it won't be my last. This kind of overall excellence in service and quality deserves repeat business. My sister lives fairly close to Rock Hill and said she'll be back as well to dine at the restaurant. Thanks again for a wonderful experience at the Cambria Hotel/Loom Restaurant! Can't wait to visit again.

I was introduced to this place by my mom she would rant and rave about how delicious the food is…read moreand she wasn't wrong! Since moving to the Carolina's from up North I wasn't sure what to expect. I've have both dined in as well as carry out and the experience is always pleasant. I've had a few things from the menu but my favorite is the oxtail roti; It's a bit costly but well worth it as the meat is super tender, flavorful and the roti is pack full of meat. I also love the rice/ peas with the brown gravy and drinks are always phenomenal I've learned depending on the time of day you may be waiting for a bit but it's well worth it as everything is fresh, hot and made to order. The service/staff very friendly and helpful when it comes to ordering. The ambiance is upbeat, very clean and vibrant I wish I got a picture of my meal but somehow never makes it because it's that delicious

On a recent trip to Rock Hill, I stopped in at Island Grill & Pub to enjoy dinner…read more Although it was very cold outside, as soon as we walked in, we felt like we were immediately transported to a neighborhood cookshop in Port Antonio! The cashier was sweet and personable. She was multitasking, but still managed to be fully engaged in the service she provided to us. She kindly let us know what items were sold out for the day and also gave us time to look over the menu and decide on our order without making us feel rushed. While we waited for our food to arrive, we noticed a steady flow of customers all the way until closing time! It's clear Island Grill & Pub is a local favorite. The food is packaged up to go, but there are plenty of tables to dine-in once you have your food...and a big screen with movies and Jamaican music playing in the background to keep you entertained. The wait for the food is a bit long...but EVERYTHING came out very fresh, very authentic, and worth the wait. The portions were plentiful, the food was flavorful and seasoned well, and the items were priced well for the value. What we ordered: - Small Jerk Chicken plate with rice & peas and cabbage - Jerk Chicken pasta - Side order of Macaroni and cheese We wish we lived closer, so we could visit Island Grill & Pub regularly, but it's definitely on our list any time we travel to the Rock Hill area!

It has been a while since I visited a Sonny's and after my recent trip I regret not going back…read moresooner. Anytime you drive past this Sonny's you can smell that BBQ smoke just wants to draw you in for some goodness! I decided to use the app to order ahead as I had a little bit of a drive down to pick up the food. It was easy to use and customize your order. There is a curbside pickup spot right out front so I parked there and let them know via the app I was there. Shortly thereafter a friendly staffer brought out my order. First let me say they really prepare you for a feast. Loads of napkins and extra sauce and utensils were provided. For my main dish I ordered the Classic smoked pork sandwich. I got the garlic texas toast and tater tots for my side. As you can see in the photos these were large pieces of toast and plenty of meat! The tots were fried perfectly. Crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside! I also ordered some tenders sauced and tossed in their sweet bbq sauce! These tendies were huge! And not over sauced! There was just enough to add flavor but not make them soggy or drowning in the sauce. As you can see they were hot and juicy and now they are high on my goto place for tenders! I also ordered the chocolate chip cookies for dessert. You get two massive cookies that are not only large in diameter but they are thick too! It was all so good I came back the next day for a redo of that classic BBQ sandwich. I can't say enough good things about my meals here. If you want some yummy BBQ you gotta stop in!

Service was EXTREMELY kind. Incredibly quick. The food was exceptional. Something I would plan a future trip's stops around if it were remotely on the way.
