The service was great. My pork chops were excellent however, my wife's meatloaf was a little dry.

Small-town restaurant, big-city energy. We were wrapping up a weekend in Hendersonville and wanted one nice Sunday dinner before heading home, and wow... this place delivered and then some! The atmosphere is cozy, low-lit, and perfect for date night, a celebration, or honestly just when you want a really good meal with phenomenal service. It's not huge, and judging by how packed it was when we arrived, I'd definitely recommend reservations. We had one of the later seating times near closing, but the place was still buzzing. There's even a second room with a gorgeous long bar that gives off upscale neighborhood hangout vibes. Service was flawless from the start. We were seated immediately and had water in our glasses within minutes. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and somehow had us in and out in about 40 minutes without ever making us feel rushed. That's an art form. Drink-wise, my boyfriend was happy to find some local beers after our brewery-hopping adventure earlier in the day. I ordered a cocktail that sounded good and asked if they could make it spicy... maybe throw in some jalapeños or something. They didn't just accommodate, they elevated. They swapped in a spicy-infused spirit, and it paired perfectly with my wood-fired roasted corn pizza topped with cilantro and jalapeño crema. Absolute flavor bomb that paired perfectly! My boyfriend's meatloaf with mushrooms and mashed potatoes was equally impressive. No notes, just clean plates. We started with the ceviche, and it was outstanding. Fresh, bright, and so flavorful that we started dipping our homemade pita into it. Speaking of the pita, that was honestly my only minor miss (and it wasn't even a miss lol). As a carb enthusiast, I wanted a little more salt and flavor, but that's nitpicking in what was otherwise an exceptional meal. Hearth & Herron is the kind of place every small town wishes it had. Thoughtful food, top-notch service, and an atmosphere that punches way above its weight class. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in Hendersonville and recommend you do the same! read more

Cannot say enough about this restaurant! Tonight we sat at the Chef's Table and talked to Chef Brad! Very interesting and passionate Italian who absolutely loves what he does. The entire staff was great. He and his sweet wife Marissa set the tone for the welcoming atmosphere. Even asked where we would recommend eating in the area so they can experience Hendo. They are pretty new to the area , so show them some love. When I walked in they were able to seat me right away. Chris explained items to me and my mouth just watered. Hard time choosing. Excellent drink menu and even nonalcoholic! Tiny, quant, elegant with noticeable history in the walls. Chef walked around checking in on his guests occasionally which was nice to see that personal attention you don't see often. My glass was never empty and I left with a very happy belly. I bet this place will have outdoor seating one day once the word really gets out and they have no room inside. My husband and I choose to come here for a recent date night. The food was great and the drinks were fine (I would like to try something else before saying all the drinks are just ok). The pita and feta were great appetizers! The pasta and pork chop meals were dishes we would get again. Our waiter was fantastic and let us take our time to enjoy our evening. The menu is very good. The service was also good. What really spoils it is the noise level. It was so loud that we could not carry on a conversation. The hard surfaces of the interior bounced the sound around everywhere. The tables are crowded very close to one another. This causes voice levels to rise in an attempt to be heard by companions. I asked if they plan to add outside seating and the answer was "maybe next year". We will return when they fix this. read more

We chose this restaurant last night during a short visit to Hendersonville. The atmosphere is cozy - but cramped! Diners are eating so close to each other, there is no way to have a private conversation at your table! I ordered the half pastured chicken and my husband ordered skirt steak. BE WARNED...if you don't order appetizer, you will probably leave the place still hungry!! While tasty, the meal portions are small, and the "sides" are barely there! My chicken pieces were arranged on top of about 5 string beans and a few pieces of wikted arugula. That was it!! Nothing else came with it!! The skirt steak was very small, but sliced into stripes and spread out on the plate (maybe to look like more??) There was about a cup of overcooked deep-fried potato chunks next to it, and again, some sprigs of arugula. Nothing else. While the chicken was cooked to perfection and delicious, it should have been served with a starch for the price!! The steak was seasoned and a bit salty. We stopped by the store and picked up ice cream and bananas on the way to the hotel. We didn't want to risk an expensive but skimpy dessert at this place. Not going back! read more

I had the trout (delish!), two others had the rigatoni (rave reviews!), another had the lamb (savory!) and two had different yet delicious pizzas. We've always get great service in this small quaint restaurant. It's the site of the old "Chicken Shack" once operated by Buddy Shipman. A long time local employee, James ("Fuzz) was a town favorite. The food is exceptional with great flavor. They have these roasted fried potatoes. That are absolutely out of this world. But the restaurant does not carry ketchup in any form which baffles me to the point of madness. But I'm not going to deduct a star for that. Although I want to. Inside of the restaurant is pleasantly don. Since it is so small, he seating is a little tight, but not bad enough to calls claustrophobia. I personally love sitting at the bar, but I'm a liquor drinker, and they don't have Sprite or 7up, which is the mainstay of my favorite drink. Therefore, I'm not able to enjoy the lovely bar or having a liquor drink at it. This is really worthy of taking off a star, but I like the food so well, and I hope they have success, so I'm not going to deduct a star for that. Overall, a great restaurant. Give it a try and you will not be disappointed. read more

We just moved to Hendersonville from New York and we're looking for a comparable restaurant here and we found it. This place is incredible. Great parking and a nice layout. My wife and I had an absolutely perfect meal. Our server Logan was on top of everything and very knowledgeable about the food and the area. I met the chef/owner and got a quick tour of his kitchen and beautiful imported Italian stove which cooks at temps up to 900 degrees. My wife and I had the pita, hot feta, homemade pasta , trout piccata and crispy potatoes. Everyone of those dishes were perfect . We split a fairly priced bottle of red wine from their nice wine collection. We finished with the homemade limoncello.Thanks for a great meal, we will be back as this is now our favorite restaurant in Hendersonville. read more

I really really wanted to be impressed. Hendersonville is sorely lacking for a top-shelf restaurant. Alas H&H just misses. Super competent and friendly staff and nice decor. But, too loud to have a normal conversation (unless shouting at your date is your thing). The food is very tasty. We shared the fish collar as a starter and it was fantastic. The scales on the edges were a bit of a downer- not sure if they were supposed to be roasted enough to be edible or just not removed- but the flavour of the dish more than made up for the inconvenience. We also had the lamb and roasted chicken. Both had excellent flavour but the cooking was off. The chicken was dry and the lamb (two thin slices) was on the tough side. Again, the problem isn't the recipe, both tasted great, it's the preparation. They had only been open a few weeks so maybe it's a matter of dialling in the kitchen. Upon entering we were greeted with friendly, helpful staff and that was our experience throughout. The mixed vegetable with Feta appetizer was delicious with fabulous, unexpected flavors. Highly recommend. The chicken was also a big standout. I normally don't like to order chicken out as I often make quite a bit at home. This was ridiculously flavorful and moist. The lamb was good as well but the chicken was our favorite. The staff here are exceptional. And the bar looked cozy. It is a little bit noisy just to give you a heads up. But the food and staff make it a huge thumbs up from us! We are definitely going back and bringing friends. You will need reservations and they are booked up though only open for 3 weeks. read more
