We were there looking for a very specific pot. They've got a lot of sizes and colors in outdoor styles. Inside they've got quite a nice selection too, as well as home decor and indoor plants. (We didn't wander the outdoor plants so I don't have any insight there). The inside of the store was also packed with a surprising amount of holiday items, given the season had concluded. Unfortunately, we walked away without the pot, but not for a lack of selection but for the very specific need we had. We did, however, leave with a handful of Xmas ornaments that I in no way needed but had to have regardless. (I also very much enjoyed watching the shop kitty/mascot playing around the store.) read more

Really like this place. A good selection. A second building for pots, decorations, fencing, pond liners etc... They have a good deal section you can usually find something. Most times you are better googling a plant then asking them, several times I got wrong information. I googled it and got the opposite of what they said. But, BUYER BEWARE of The Gardner's Choice, because once you make your CHOICE, there's no going back in the reality of today's busy world. This nursery is alright. I feel like certain plants are priced very reasonably, whereas others were very overpriced. The workers here aren't super friendly, but I wouldn't say they are rude either. There is a giant cat that walks around, so they don't allow you to bring your own pets...but that wasn't a huge deal to me. In general, most of the plants appeared healthy. Yes this nursery has a good selection, yes they're the closest nursery to me but the owner and some people working here not so sure. Some of the employees are pleasant but the owner and a few employees their attitudes are not so friendly. I always have a pleasant experience shopping at Al's Garden and Farmington even though they're a bit farther away. Surprisingly, their plants are a bit higher than those 2 nurseries. I thought it would be the other way around since Al's and Farmington are bigger nurseries. We had the worse experience during Covid when they were so strict to stay behind the line. LOL! I gave this place several chances but I dont think i'll ever come back again. Whenever I go there are less and less cars/customers. I give this business 2 more years before they go out of business. Dont want to wish that on any business but if they dont provide a good atmosphere where people have a good shopping experience then (just read the reviews. I thought I was the only one having this experience) they're not going to last long. JUst sell the business to someone else who loves running a nursery and is not grumpy! read more

I have been here for three visits and never again. I have been talked down to (I am 61 with a degree in Biology with focus on botany) like I have no clue about anything plant related, encountered the same No Dogs Allowed berating and told it was clearly marked at the entrance (You can only make out the face of a CAT on a sun bleached sign and no words), and argued with when older male worker told me I was wrong and No Dogs signs are clearly displayed. When we walked in, we walked past 4 employees who made eye contact and walked off a opposite direction. Their prices are on par with Al's Garden on Roy Rogers Rd, but Al's workers are so friendly and approachable. There are no big, deep puddles to step around at Al's either. Another Great nursery is Loen's Nursery, further west on Hwy99, just after Cipole Rd, on the north side of Hwy99 after the signal intersection. If you are looking for ceramic pots, Loen's has a good selection and lower prices (...even less than Al's). All of my (3) visits to Gardeners Choice were departed emptied handed, feeling pissed off and vowing to never return. I gave this place 3 tries and it has been consistent in be unhelpful, treated with bad manners and rudeness, bad customer service and prices that are at the top of high range. Support the good businesses, go somewhere else. read more

It's a shame that this place can't get customer service right. They have no public restrooms, no one ever greets me or offers to help. Oftentimes, employees seem to be more interested in watering plants than helping customers. They do have a great selection of pots and plants. read more

We give this truly beautiful store a grade of One Star because can't give a Zero Star rating. The place is large, beautiful and carefully stocked. Most of the staff is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. However ... we shopped on this hot (90-deg) afternoon then queued up for checkout. Two registers were operating and we were second in the waiting line. The customer in line ahead of us finally got a register and we were happy that we were next. Instead, the second register cleared and the clerk walked away. I thought she just didn't realize we were there but then she looked at me, met my eyes, then turned away, instead attending to her computer. My wife and i looked at one another, put our items atop a stack and walked out. In spite of the physical plant, we won't be back. read more

Bigger then you would think from the street, but then again most nurseries seem to be, This one has a nice selection of healthy plants, helpful staff and the biggest selection of outdoor pots that I have seen. Currently located in the middle of a construction zone it has a large parking lot, there is a building of plants and lots more outside and under shades. Continue on and there is a ramp and stairs to a higher level. The upper level is where all the pots are outside are the ceramic pots. They are separated by color around a building with various plants mixed in, Inside the barn like building there are more pots, plastic, metal, fiberglass, etc all separated by color most along the back. The front has more decorations and some indoor plants. The prices are fair and the selection is different then say Al's, the one every one compairs nurseries to in the area. They seem to have wisely struck a course specializing in what Al's overlooks or has a small selections, like outdoor pots. read more

Good selection of sun perennials (elite & regular), great selection of fuchsias, hebes, hostas, annuals, sedums. AMAZING selection of garden art, fountains, glazed pottery, trellises, arbors, etc! This place is pretty big. They devote something like a third of their real estate to non-living garden stuff - pots, trellises, and so on. The rest is plants and dirt. There are also two parking lots with plenty of spaces. They have a broad selection of fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, and really everything. The employees are knowledgable, helpful, and friendly. I've only been there a few times now, but several of them recognize me and chat with me about my progress transforming my yard. You can even have your purchases delivered for a small fee. When i bought a few trees and some soil amendments, i didn't have to lift an ounce of it. They tagged my trees up in the tree area, recommended a planting compost, then took me down to the register to ring it all up. The next day, three trees and a bale of compost appeared on my back patio. The only thing i don't like is that they have very few obscure edibles. They carry hardy kiwis, but pretty much only one cultivar. I've never seen honeyberries, or even currants, during my visits, so either they don't carry them at all or they hide them in some inaccessible corner. In all, of the various garden centers i hang around at, Gardener's Choice has the friendliest, nicest, most helpful employees. I can track down my obscure plants elsewhere as needed, but this is where i go for 99% of my gardening needs. read more

RUDE RUDE RUDE A 30 YR CUSTOMER NOT GOING BACK Was browsing outside in this nursery .No one remotely close. Had mask covering my mouth only due to 20 yr disability with severe breathing problems. Man approached on a tractor and barked out to cover my entire face or get out. When I tried to explain my situation that total coverage would lead to fainting he arrogantly repeated the same. I left. Employee did not attempt any solution..eg social distancing outside and total coverage inside for 10 mts to pay. This was my plan to not harm anyone but was not permitted to explain. Avoid this place if you have health issues and head to Als where they are considerate and polite. Latest Oregon mask guidelines state as of June 25 2020:"children, people with medical conditions that make it hard to breathe and people with disabilities that make it hard for them to comply with face coverings are exempt from regulations". Blatant power corruption in this business is a dangerous sight to behold. read more

Absolute 5 stars for this terrific garden center. Since we just moved to Portland I'm still exploring and looking for those in-the-know go-to places. This is one of those great finds. With incredible customer service combined with one of the best selections of fountains and garden ornaments, this place is a real treat to visit. Their lead buyer Kari was wonderful, helping me customize a gorgeous cement pagoda to use as a fountain. I was expecting upcharges and long lead times, but what I got was amazing customer service at every step of the process. She was attentive, great at communicating, and made certain that there were no extra costs! The garden section is surprisingly large (keep wandering), with a very well edited selection. Not as vast as others, but they have a much better supply of unusual plants and a great staff to explain them. Ample parking, reasonable prices, a huge array of containers and decor round out this great resource. Overall, worth making a special visit! read more

I hate long winded reviews, so I keep my short: * They have lots to pick from, huge selection. * Some plants and products are priced at the same range as competitors. Others were very overpriced (Women's small gloves $3 more). * Customer service could be improved with the individual I interacted with. (Possibly a summer hire with not much experience.) Looks are deceiving. The grounds are massive and spread far back from the street. Gardner's Choice is a superb nursery. I've recently done the rounds for roses and I'm beyond happy with GC. They have a far superior choice above other local nurseries. Their rose bush prices were competitive and less expensive than Al's. Customer service was incredible every time. I always end up speaking to someone who is very knowledgeable and able to answer my sometimes silly questions. I always leave happy and encouraged to go forth and garden with confidence. read more

Talk about a lucky find. My husband and I were on our way home from the Tulip Festival and happened to stop at the street light just in front of their entrance. We were in need of some more potting soil as we had underestimated how much we needed before. Anyway! We thought we would run in quick, get some potting soil, and get out. Ha! We ended up walking around for at least an hour and left with an office plant for my husband, an air plant for me, and the potting soil of course. This nursery was awesome. It looks tiny, but keeps going, and going, and then suddenly you find yourself at another building just for indoor plants and knick knacks. This is a great Garden Store. I love the variety of plants that they offer, and the staff are all very knowledgable and helpful. The quality of their plants is high, and they have unique plants that you don't see everywhere else. If you have some time you can spend hours walking through the old Ripley's store which is FILLED with pots and garden sundries. It's a great place to shop for gifts. The best part is that there are two cats that call the nursery home, and they are usually lounging around the cash registers. read more

We showed up at noon on a busy Saturday to purchase a water feature. When told we wouldn't be able to load our purchase for a few days, we were a bit "disappointed". We explained to the cashier that we really did need to pick up the fountain this weekend, and to our surprise, a gentleman took the time to dig one out, load the fountain into our truck, and graciously explain how to get the fountain up and running. As we were ready to leave, I asked the gentleman his name. "I'm Steve". I thanked him for his help, and on a lark, asked him if he was the owner of Gardener's Choice. He is the owner. I went to the place for the first time. I felt like I am at Disney Land for grownups. They have wide variety of plants and more. The staff are knowledgeable. We bought several pots of perennials, roses, framed pictures and some wall decoration. Highly recommended. read more

I really have spent way too much money here to repeatedly be treated so poorly. What is up with this place? I'm the only person in the store and they give zero customer service. This is the second time I've been buying something to have the price ring up different. Last time I was quoted 3prices!!! Full $7.99 then I remind them it's in the discount section, "Oh it's 25% off" the boss tells me so I buy it only to bring it home and have a small yellow tag in all 8 pots say $1.99. This place is a garden wonderland, the likes of which I've never seen!! It took me over and hour to walk through the outside and inside show rooms, every area more beautiful than the next. I was most impressed by impeccably designed indoor showroom, full of beautiful, unique, and very fairly priced merchandise. Since I am a business owner I know that customer service is number one. Customer service is not number One at this Business. I called three different times during working hours and no one answers the phone. There is a recording from July 5. Today is July 19. When I drove the 20 minutes out of my way to get there I was immediately told they were closing in five minutes. I had a comment back on that. Then someone came up to me at 5 o'clock and said they were closed and basically pushed me out the gate almost and didn't want to hear anything that I had said about the fact that no one answers the phone and that I drove 20 minutes to get there. She just Repeated that they were closing and I needed to leave. She could've cared less. This to me is not customer service, this is rudeness, and people that don't care about their customers once they arrive nor take the time to even answer the phone or even call you back once you've left a message about whether they have a certain item or not don't deserve paying customers. Although they have a great selection I would not go back there unless I was desperate to get just what they had. I was not impressed! read more

They usually have a good selection. HOWEVER, they do not have a website to help with any information about their inventory or other information. AND, they almost NEVER answer their phone. They just put the line on hold so it gives a busy signal; I have been there to see this. So, you have to drive to west Tigard through 99W traffic to see if they have what you are looking for. Often, it is a wasted trip that could have been avoided by a 30 second phone call. They need to have a website, and answer their phone instead of generating a lot of vehicle trips, fuel consumption and wasted time. A little service over the phone would be very helpful. read more
