Decided to try the new Garrison a month or so after they opened. Ordered our mains and the waitress came back to tell us they are no longer honoring their advertised menu. In two spots on the menu it mentions swapping sides for an additional $2. Apparently they do not wish to charge their advertised prices and will only swap sides if you pay full price. I pointed out to the waitress that this was not what their menu said. She said management is aware. When I did receive the fish and chips I ordered the malt vinegar had spilled all over the whole plate making not the fish and fries soggy. Such a disappointing experience it brought me out of Yelp retirement to warn others. read more

New, the Shore Club is gone! The new built Garrison takes the space that was formerly the Pro Shop and the Shore Club bar area and makes it a much larger space. Nice redesign a noticeably bigger bar more tables and booths and more HDTV's! They also had a shuffleboard game. I played the Cove with Steve F and stopped in here after our round for some lunch. There were not that many people but it was LOUD. I had the grilled shrimp tacos on flour tortilla, with a small side of guacamole and some stale tortilla chips. The tacos were delicious! I was surprised they had no salsa. You got tacos, you got tortilla chips, but where's the salsa? I didn't think the menu was really all that great. One burger option, fried chicken sandwich and a lot of pizzas and all their salads are made with romaine and 'spring mix' with NO iceberg options. It's 'all new' with new Staff as well and even though it got busier into lunch time, there did not seem to be enough Staff to cover it all. I'm hopeful they'll get it all together in time. read more

The service was so slow. The meatballs and deviled eggs were very good. The short rib was terrible. It was tough and tasted weird. The carrots on the plate were not cooked. Fish and chips were ok. The salmon was good and the mushroom risotto was good. We had a 6:15 reservation and it took an hour to order our entrees. We ordered a bottle of white wine and it took 30 minutes. Overall we had a great experience. Cosmos were a little sweet but otherwise very good. Our appetizers were delicious (crab hush puppies, deviled eggs, and tuna tacos). Our main courses were fabulous (lobster rolls, pork chop, fish & chips, Owner's Steak Sandwich) and all were cooked perfectly. Tracy, our waitress was very friendly and attentive and did a great job taking care of us. The renovation of the old space was well done, but it is still noisy in the dining room because of so much wood in the room. The bar area is gorgeous! The only knock against this place was the 30+ minute wait for dessert, which we ended up canceling. We will be back. read more

Our reservation was messed up but they did a great job getting it fixed so we were all comfortable. A server quit mid shift so there was a bit of chaos, not their fault, as they tried to cover the tables that were abandoned. One of our meals was delayed but they instantly compd it for us and did their best to expedite it. I made reservations for Saturday evening. I got the phone number from their web site and called. When we arrived, we were told there was no reservation in my name. "Are you sure you called this location? You should always use Open Table. You can sit in the bar, I have no table for you here." NOT ONE SINGLE WORD OF APOLOGY! We ended up in the bar, dressed for dinner with all the golfers and folks in their swimsuits feeling very out of place and unappreciated. It was so loud in there we could not hear each other. We ate quickly and got out of there. WE WILL NOT BE BACK. I do not choose to spend my money where I am treated so poorly. BTW.... Wife Ordered salad with chicken and I had shrimp tacos. Chicken on salad had no flavor and was chewy and no seasoning. Why restaurants don't marinate chicken I have no idea. My tacos were 22 dollars for 2. Way over priced and for that thought they would be outstanding but NO. Papa Docs has 3 for 15 dollars ways better tasting. Mash potatoes came no seasoning or garlic and are suppose to be garlic mashed potatoes. Pricing is all over the place salad price reasonable tacos not at all and steak prices way overboard. They need to do something to baffle the sound acoustically. Did a beautiful job with the remodel but if the food and prices don't get better they are not gonna make it. Service was really good. Beautiful atmosphere, great service and the lobster roll (traditional style with hot butter) was delicious! 2nd time we ate in the bar and we had the owner's steak sandwich. Second time here and the service is still painfully slow, likely because the wait staff currently has to make a long trip to the temporary bar for drinks. Hopefully that improves once the new bar is fully operational. I tried the St. Louis-style pizza (cheese and pepperoni) and found it a bit underwhelming -- the flavor just didn't stand out. I usually enjoy thin crust pizza, but this probably isn't something I'd order again. Recommend The Dirty Gamecock and Crab Cake Hushpuppies. read more

We had a reservation and arrived early to a restaurant that was only about half full. The hostess seated us immediately, which gave a great first impression, but unfortunately the experience went downhill from there. After being seated, we waited over 20 minutes without anyone stopping by the table to offer water, take drink orders, or even acknowledge us. We eventually had to flag down a manager to ask if we had a server. Shortly after, the hostess came by to fill water and assured us someone would be right over. Another 10 minutes passed with no server. We flagged down another employee asking for assistance, and again were told they would find our server. After waiting yet another 10 minutes with still no one ever coming to our table, we decided to leave. I understand this is a newer restaurant and there can be growing pains, but failing to have a server speak to a reserved table for over 40 minutes is unacceptable. Extremely disappointing experience and unfortunately we will not be back. read more

The restaurant has excellent ambiance, the food is delicious and if you are looking for gluten free/dairy free they have great options! I really want this place to be good, but the food is always a little off. This was our second visit, the first one I chalked everything up to just having opened and ironing out any issues. This time the food just wasn't great. The dressing on the lobster roll is really runny and it makes the bun all soggy and gross, it's just too much, I couldn't finish it. My husband got the steak sandwich and asked for cheese on it when he ordered, they forgot the cheese which was no problem but when they took it away to add the cheese to it they brought it back and they hadn't even melted it or anything, it was just a slice of cold American cheese, just not very appetizing. My daughter had mushroom risotto as a side and it was cold. Just makes me wonder about the temperature they are keeping things at too, the lobster roll was kind of lukewarm. read more

Let me start by saying I've going to the club for almost 10 years. Ate there on Tuesday and Thursday after golf begrudgingl. And a few times for dinner just because it's so close for me. The food was subpar and I would only order 3 things on the menu I considered safe. I know better than to try a restaurant when they first open. I believe they all need time to get their footing. But despite that I went last Friday at 4:00 to have an early dinner. I first asked if the bar could do a gimlet which is usually served in a martini like glass as I explained to the waitress . I also told her if they didn't know how to make it I would order something else. The drink came in a tall glass with ice. And tasted nothing like a gimlet, but maybe a Tom Collin's. On to dinner. I ordered the scallops and risotto, my one request was that the scallops be cooked all the way through. When they were served they were basically raw. So this time I told the waitress and sent them back. When they returned to me they were a brown color not from refiring them but from the Asian sauce served with the dish. even the waitress made a comment. The manager came and I explained what happened and they removed it from my bill and I ordered a burger. Which was fine. Forward to Sunday I called during the week to make a reservation for 4 for the buffet at the Glennon center. We arrived at 10:55 for our 11:00 and the staff told me they didn't have a reservation for me. Perhaps I made it for the restaurant. I explained without a doubt I did not as I was bringing my granddaughters and knew a buffet would be better for them. They did end up accommodating us at a beautiful table on the porch. Now to the buffet. We all opted for breakfast there was a tiny bit of bacon, same sausage and a great French toast casserole. They had an omelette station so I asked if they could do over easy eggs instead for granddaughter #1. They had to go for fetch the eggs and one was over the other was broken. Which I told them to keep as she would not eat it. No toast or rolls to go with omelets or eggs. At our second pass their were no plates and no one was cleaning up around the chaffing dishes. Not a pretty sight. I hope this is take. as constructive criticism as that is how it is meant. I live 4 mins from there and was so excited to have a real restaurant close!! I've visited Margeaux's many times for lunch and they never failed to put out outstanding food. I know start up is difficult and staff is hard to find. I'm hopeful that my next visit things will improve. read more
