We celebrated Mother's Day at Napa at Kingsley and it was truly a perfect experience from beginning to end. The atmosphere and the view were absolutely beautiful, the food was amazing, and the drinks were fantastic. Our server, Yeti, was outstanding. He was incredibly attentive to detail, explained the menu so well, had so much patience with us, and suggested wonderful dishes for us to try. You can really tell he cares about giving guests a great experience. I was a little worried that because it was Mother's Day we might feel rushed, but not at all. Everything felt relaxed, welcoming, and thoughtfully paced. The manager was also so friendly and kind, which made the experience even more special. We left so impressed and happy. I would recommend this place 100 times over, and I definitely can't wait to come back -- and ask for Yeti again! Wow... just amazing! read more

Very disappointed in what Napa has become.. I am never one to post things like this because I work in the service industry. I know people and places have their off days and am very understanding. With that said, I'm actually appalled with the way my parents were treated at Napa today on their anniversary. Back story- I ate at Napa 6 years ago for my prom dinner in a large group and everything was great, so i recommended they go there. Unfortunately for them, there's been major changes and apparently for the worse. They came in and were offered a toast for their anniversary. They were the only table in there and service already seemed pretty slow. After receiving the complimentary wine and bread, they asked about the mussels. The server came back a while later (again no one else to be served in there) and told them the mussels needed to be shucked and couldn't be served... I feel like I don't even have to explain why that seems like a blatant lie, when specifically Napa's mussels are served in the shell (steamed) and not shucked. I could be wrong about that, I don't work in Napa's kitchen, but the real problem was after that. The server then never came back after 20-30 minutes. My parents sat there debating "should we leave, should we stay?"... Ultimately deciding to leave, they ran into the server on the way out. To keep the peace, they told him that something came up and they had to go. This server, knowing it was their anniversary, and knowing he just blatantly ignored them, responded with "yeah we already heard y'all talking about it" ?????? I'm sorry, what? You knew they were wondering where you were at, overheard them talking about it, and never went back over to do your job? Absolutely unacceptable and I am so truly embarrassed to have recommended Napa to them. This was their 2nd anniversary and they wanted to try something new. They originally had reservations at The Pump House, and those were canceled because of the weather. I told them they could try Napa, it's owned by the same people, and I had a great experience. Like I said, I know people and places have off days, but there is no fixing this experience for them. They never want to go back after being treated like they weren't wanted. Feels like a problem from the top down. I hope no one else's anniversaries are ruined because of managers who aren't paying attention to the floor they're supposed to be running. Walking in you are hit with an overwhelming odor i learned was intentional. Supposed to a basil diffuser. I ordered scallops which came with cold potatoes and also another starch which i didnt like. The 4 scallops were tasty but everything else was bland at best. The restroom reeked if urine and as i went tk was my hands i was afraid to put my hands in as the sink was filfthy. This was a return after my first visit last spring. My date ordered the butternut squash bisque and a side of mashed potatoes. I got the meatball appetizer with sourdough bread. We were eating light, but everything was filling. Our server, Rachael, was very attentive and super friendly. It was an all-around nice visit. The ambience, as always, was appealing. Service was excellent . The location is larger. We were on the patio and enjoyed being outside even after it became a bit chilly. The Caesar salad was lightly dressed like did anyone put dressing on it. The surf and crab cake special. The steak was cooked as ordered. The crab cake had less filling so more on the crab side. Superb service by Alice, as well as a welcome visit to my table by the wonderful restaurant manager. Fantastic chef. All three dishes I ordered were delicious and contained a unique cornucopia of tastes. Loved the charred carrots, crisp cauliflower and napa salad. Had to take home leftovers since portions were larger than I expected. Outdoor tables and many indoor tables face a pretty "lake." I hope some day Napa will open a restaurant in Paramus NJ, near where I live. I will look for Napa's other locations when I travel, especially the upcoming location in Raleigh NC. read more

Our waiter was quite cocky and not cut out to be in the hospitality industry. Quite arrogant and off putting. Food was lacking flavor big time. Prices were too high for what it was. Celebrating anniversary with my life partner and decided to check out Napa in South Carolina. The service and responsiveness of the staff was nothing less than perfect. We arrived with a reservation and was quickly seated, and presented with menu's. The drinks were outstanding and reasonably priced. The ambieance was suitable for a family dinner, date night or a bite with friends and families. This was our second time dining at Napa in Kingsley and again we were very impressed. The first time was for weekend brunch and their "mimosa bar" along with entrees. Needless to say, I had the best and fluffiest quiche of my life that day. This time we dined for their Thanksgiving prix fixe menu and our server, Grant, was exceptional. He knew his wines, had excellent recommendations, was genuine, and personal. For dinner we enjoyed the prime rib, butternut squash ravioli, Caesar salad, Brussels sprouts with hot honey, sage stuffing, and cheesecake for dessert. I don't know if any of these items are on their regular menu, but I'd recommend any of them if they are. Overall, Napa gets 5 stars for us for delicious food, exceptional service, and a warm ambiance. It is a great place to go for a treat to celebrate. read more

I finally found your email on Facebook (but it bounces) and it is nowhere to be found on your webpage, ordering apps or even the chamber of commerce. The Toast app said curbside pickup but the hostess didn't answer the call time of my arrival when prompted by the app upon arrival. So I had to park illegally because there were no spots to go inside to get my food. The app also didn't have any kids' menu so I had to place that in person since not listed on the app and since they didn't pick up the phone. Then I had to wait for it beyond the promised time. When home and we sat down to eat our meal, the mussels and bread and calamari were cold and the chicken fingers and French fries were burnt. Edit - upon contacting the restaurant through the Toast app I was fully refunded for my food. I left a management at the restaurant another voicemail this several days ago about the issues and they didn't return my call. I find all of this unacceptable. Edit: after two days the mgr did call me back and refund me on the app. The mgr also said they requested updates the Toast app. However, their email is still not accurate on FB nor is it on their website. This was my first visit to this location and I was impressed. I had to wait or an appointment nearby and was hungry so I came here for a quick lunch. I sat at the bar and had fantastic service and a great cocktail. I didn't realize that had good lunch specials here and was happy to with my selection of half a flatbread pizza and fries. The pizza was good but the fries were amazing. I still had time to kill so I ordered a piece of their chocolate cake. I totally would never have ordered it but had to fill the time. My husband and I attended here for Mother's Day brunch and enjoyed it. Our server was good and friendly, and the food was a good portion size. It was a nice day and the doors were open, there was a beautiful breeze, it was nice to sit and look at the water. The only thing about the service I disliked is that the hostess asked if we were celebrating anything other than Mother's Day, I said yes it's also my birthday-- and the server asked the same thing... and then there was nothing. I feel that if they went out of their way to ask, twice, why wasn't there anything else? No happy birthday on the plate or anything? It seemed strange to ask and then deliver nothing. Other than that the meatballs and crab cake were great, my husband really enjoyed his short rib Benedict and I also enjoyed the pasta although it was heavy on the capers. Very lovely upscale restaurant in popular Kingsley. Pros: Ambiance is fantastic, for a surprisingly intimate experience, despite the crowds it attracts. The food is delicious and portions are generous. They have some very unique cocktail options, too. Cons: A little noisy for my taste, but it wasn't too bad. Parking for anything in Kingsley sucks. They have valet, but I could not flag down anyone when I was trying to park. Of course it's pricey, but this is to be expected for finely prepared food and an elevated experience all around. Great for date night, anniversary, dinner with the girls, or just grabbing a drink and appetizer at the beautiful bar. read more

Tonight my dear friend and I went out to celebrate his successful art show and we had an amazing dinner. Our waiter Grant was so professional, knowledgeable, friendly and funny. I ordered the octopus and Brussel sprouts and my friend ordered the Gorgonzola crusted steak and French onion soup. We also had the sour dough bread. I have to say the food was so incredible! No complaints at all! I also had a delicious non-alcoholic blood orange cocktail. The ambiance was beautiful and we look forward to coming back to see Grant and enjoy more dishes. Such a large, lovely place with amazing food and drinks and really great staff! It was Winter so didn't get to check out the outdoor area. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were all great and a couple managers each stopped by to check how we were doing. 2 people for dinner on a Saturday night after recommendations from people who live in the area. Another friend said she loves the Charlotte location but hadn't been to this one. Unfortunately I was not in a wine mood, they have an extensive wine selection. We were seated next to the lovely wine fridge wall and got to see staff go on the ladder to retrieve wine. To start we shared the cast iron meatballs and the seasonal Napa salad - the kitchen split the salad into 2 servings for sharing. A really nice touch! For my main I had the pan-roasted salmon and my friend had the braised short rib pappardelle. (I tried a bite and it was delicious!) We could have stopped there but really wanted to try the apple tart dessert so we made room to share that! Before leaving I bought a gift card for the person who suggested the restaurant to us, since her birthday is coming up. read more

We went here for a late lunch on a Saturday. This was our 1st time to a Napa restaurant. They were not busy so we didn't have to wait to be seated. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We both ordered the meatball sandwich, one with Caesar salad and one with fries. The sandwiches were delicious and the bread was very fresh. I'm not sure if they make their own bread, but it tasted that fresh! The salad and fries were tasty too. We also had the Old Faithful cocktail, it was perfect, so we had a few. This is an upscale restaurant, so I'm sure during peak lunch and dinner hours you may want to make reservations. The exterior area was a nice place to sit and relax after our meal. We had an enjoyable brunch that started with their great customer service. I ordered the Short Rib Benedict and the Pepperoni Flatbread. Although the eggs were initially overcooked, the staff quickly replaced and fixed my order without any hassle. The flavors were fantastic, and both dishes were delicious. I came here for a work dinner so there was a preset menu and the overall service is different than a typical dinner here. For the drink, I got the California Dreamin' mocktail and it was very delicious with the bloody orange in it. Then to start, I got the Caesar salad which was good and typical. For the entree, I got the Pan Roasted Salmon and it was a bit overcooked, the skin was burnt, and it was a small portion for the whopping price of it. It was served with lentils which were not good in general. The star of the show was the dessert which was the Flourless Chocolate Cake which was very rich and tasty. I didn't get a picture of the vegetable beef soup last night but let's just say my husband said it looked like Taco Bell ground beef in a bowl (sob). There were maybe 2-3 vegetables in it! I was with two other couples and didn't want to make a scene. I do think at an upscale restaurant the server should notice untouched food and ask if everything was okay and I would have been honest. I didn't finish it at all... highly highly disappointed. (Should have taken a pic!) The salmon was cooked perfectly;however, the root vegetables such as the beets could have been trimmed a bit more (the tap roots still attached). I was not overly impressed by Napa. Still, it is a high-quality restaurant, and maybe I just didn't order the right meal. Nappa is located in the Kingley mall. Parking wasn't too bad, but it was off a little ways, so we had to walk. There are plenty of other things to go in this mall, including a brewery right across the way, as well as plenty of other restaurants. On this night, I chose the duck gnocchi, which, on hind sight, was a mistake. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly, and so was the duck. It came with squash and cranberries, which by themselves would have been awesome, but mixed altogether with an extra sweet sauce. It was more like dessert. I also had a squash bisque, which was decent. I honestly wouldn't order that again either. We also ordered swordfish, which was actually quite good. I should probably order a steak or something next time I visit. There is a great wine selection here. They have a full bar, including specialty drink and some good craft beer. The service was probably the best part of the experience. I would come again just for that. read more

He had some recommendations and I got the shrimp gnocchi and my wife got the NY strip and potatoes. First off, both were so amazing. The sauce on the steak had a slight spice to it and it was great. I remember being underwhelmed on my first visit here, but loved the ambiance...so decided to give it another shot with my husband this time. Again, I liked the lofty ambiance. Unfortunately, their ambiance was the best part. We decided to try several small plates. We started with Crispy Calamari and Lump Crab Cakes, to Shrimp & Lemon Gnocci, Tuna Tartare and Haricot Verts Noisette. We actually planned on ordering a few more...BUT! For one, the foods were just not good. Despite the name, their "Crispy" Calmari was basically just CHEWY...and way too salty. Same with the Gnocci dish...ALL Salt!! Crab Cakes were O-Kay, but barely warm (??). Honestly, for the price of these small plates (all nearly 20 bucks), a total rip. It's truly shocking...for a restaurant as nice as this to have such disappointing foods?!? BTW, it took forever to get these small appetizers (probably waiting to be delivered for the longest time...thus our cooled dishes). Secondly, our waitress never bothered to check on us, so I guess we missed our chance to order more plates...possibly more drinks. Oh Well...their loss. Well, our waitress (Gabrielle?) started out really friendly...but she basically forgot us for the rest of our time there. She didn't stop by our table even once to check on drinks! We barely got her attention to pay our final bill. It was actually shocking for me to hear her tell us to mention her for Open Table and Yelp reviews (?!?) as we were signing off our bill. Did she actually think she did a good job...basically ignoring us?? Just WOW...almost laughable. I don't like giving 1-star reviews, but this was such a disappointment, I can't stop myself. Just NOT a fan of this place. Bad, overpriced foods (sloppy presentation too...just check out the Tuna Tartare!) and slow, absent service. In a way, we're glad that we ended up ordering just a few small plates...as they all clearly weren't worth it.
