I had dinner here tonight, and I'm still thinking about it hours later. Everything about this place -- from the atmosphere to the service to the food -- was on another level. You can tell immediately that Antonio and his team takes pride in what they do, because every detail feels intentional. The service, "Haleda" definitely one of my all time favorites, was the kind you don't forget: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling forced. It set the tone for the entire night. And the food... unreal. Every dish was balanced, flavorful, and clearly crafted with skill. You know that moment when you take a bite and just stop talking for a second because your brain needs to process how good it is? That was me, repeatedly. This wasn't just a meal -- it was an experience. I recommend the Egg Plant Parmesan! The ambiance sealed the deal. Comfortable, stylish, and perfect for actually enjoying the people you're with. It's rare to find a place that nails both the vibe and the food, but this one does it effortlessly. Tonight officially raised the bar for what I consider a great restaurant. Yuck. That's the word that comes to mind. We gave them two chances over the last couple of months, and I could not have been more unimpressed. The first visit was for brunch -- except there was no brunch. It's advertised as brunch, but the menu was dinner only. Pasta at 11am? We passed and left. So, dinner it was. They market themselves as Italian-inspired cuisine. If this is Italian, my foot is an eggplant. I rarely write harsh reviews, so bear with me while I go into detail. First, the cocktails. I ordered an old fashioned. The older gentleman behind the bar -- who I believe is the owner -- should not be making cocktails. If you're going to charge $20-25 for one, do it right. Invest in a mortar and pestle, skip the premade mix, and don't use bargain whiskey. Smoking the glass doesn't hide premade bitters or cheap bourbon. Second, the bread. No real Italian restaurant would serve this. My family and I genuinely wondered if it came from Aldi or Lidl with a dusting of flour to fake an artisan look. Third, the appetizers. We should have stopped here and gone elsewhere, but we pushed on. The calamari was rubbery, soggy, and greasy. The crostini was fine -- though it's hard to mess that up. Fourth, the entrees. I ordered the ossobuco. One look at the sauce and I knew this wasn't going to be right -- ossobuco shouldn't be sweet, and this was. The meat was okay, but the sauce ruined it. My wife saw my face and started laughing -- until she tasted her own dish. A real Italian restaurant should be able to make a proper tri-color tortellini. This one couldn't. The kids weren't impressed with their pasta either. The staff, though, were good -- no complaints there. Given how cramped the space was, we were genuinely impressed by how well they maneuvered around. In closing: beyond the questionable food, there was an off-putting vibe we might not have noticed if not for the manager's belligerence toward his staff -- we could hear him yelling at them in the back. Odd, considering he spent the whole time sitting at the bar while the owner flirted with one of the waitresses which was the only thing funny about this dinner. Overall, this is one of the rare times I'll say: avoid this place. Questionable food, questionable behavior. Our waiter, at least, was great. read more

The friggin ballz on these people! We were packed in like a can of sardines. We had to choose the least claustrophobic and smallest people in our group of 6 to fit in on one particular side of the table so closely abutting another that there only 3 inches back to back once seated. We waited 15 minutes before we got a hold of the water boy to ask him to get our waiter. He said he didn't know who our waiter was and was completely baffled as to how to figure it out. I recommended that he ask the hostess. Shortly afterwards a waiter appeared and said "I'm not your waiter but we work together so what would you like to drink"? This was the worst introduction I've ever had from a waiter. We gave the drink and food order for all 6 us at once. After we placed our order the food was at our table in 5 minutes and therefore was not cooked fresh. From the time we asked the busboy to the time we left the restaurant after eating, it took drumroll please...36 minutes. Yes that's right 36 minutes. No we were not in a Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately we were here. The food was so bad that I only ate 2 bites of my pasta carbonara because it was gloppy, tasteless, and soggy with wet pancetta (not even browned let alone crispy). The chicken piccata and its pasta was also gloppy. It all looked velveted like that Chinese cooking technique where the food is gloppy glossy and slippery. Not only were the textures disgusting but the food had no flavor except the chicken parm. No water refills were offered. I don't know what goes on in that kitchen but for them to bring food out so quickly and for it to be so awful leaves a lot to my imagination. When the waiter came over at the end of the meal he didn't even ask why my food was untouched and full. We weren't offered dessert or coffee. He just didn't care, and wanted to turn that table over. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone other than the health department. read more

From dining at the long time South Blvd location, Villa Antonio, to the Waxhaw location, Bistro D'Antonio we've never been disappointed. We started off with the Figgy Crostini which we always get. I'm always impressed with the amount of Figs, Goat Cheese and Walnuts piled on the bread. Our 8 year old daughter always orders the Chicken Parmigiano. She an expert on this dish and says theirs is THE BEST. My wife and I both had the Pasta Special with Shrimp and Lobster Tail. They knew it was our 50th Wedding Anniversary so they brought us over a piece of Tres Leches Cake, with a candle, and sang Happy Anniversary to us. The only thing we missed was Sunday was Antonio's day off Do yourself a favor, drive to Waxhaw, and enjoy some of the BEST ITALIAN INSPIRED CUISINE in the Charlotte area. read more

Its a loud Italian restaurant on a Saturday night with decent Italian food. I had simple spaghetti and meatballs and it was good. 5 big meatballs and not salty which I was happy about. The wife had Chicken Piccata which she said was good. The Caprese salad lost points because the tomotaoes were Not ripe. The bread was really small but warm and fresh. We haven't eaten here in a while so we both tried something easy -- chicken Marsala, takeout. They accommodated GF pasta (thanks) but honestly, not the Marsala was not even average. The meal had no flavor, needed salt, and the two chicken breasts were very thin. The meal was very bland and we were left disappointed and hungry. All this after $60 for both meals (left $5 takeout tip). Portions need to be much larger for the prices they charge and needs flavor!! read more

We visited the restaurant twice because we were gifted a substantial gift certificate. The first time we went, I had the lasagna and my husband had the lobster ravioli. We had good service and the entrees were great. They offer bread with vinegar and oil. The second time we visited, my husband ordered the lobster ravioli again, and I had the chicken Parmesan entree. My husband enjoyed his, but I couldn't eat the pasta that I ordered as the side with my chicken parmesan. The sauce on the pasta was orange/red in color, it tasted and reminded me of something like "chef boyardee" sauce from a can. It was actually different from what the chicken had on it originally( which was deeper red in color and much better ). The kitchen staff actually spread some of it over the chicken ( which I scraped off). We are pretty easy going and easy to please, but this was an odd dining experience for us. The waiter was nice. It is a quiet and pleasant ambiance. I just think we won't be returning because the sauce on the pasta was not my taste, and it is a relatively expensive restaurant. To save money and avoid getting a bad experience we will dine elsewhere. read more

I get they were busy but it's not a good look to just want to turn tables. And the food isn't even that good. We will not be returning. This was my first time eating here. I'm don't know if I'll be back but not because it wasn't delicious but because it's 2 hrs away in Waxhaw, NC and I don't tend to visit this area often. I loved the ambiance of this restaurant. As soon as you walk into the dining room you pass a large bar. I noticed a large jug of fresh pineapple slices in some sort of liquid. A member of our party said it was for the martinis they serve. I'm not a drinker but taking the time to macerate fresh fruit for their drinks told me I was in for a wonderful meal. All the tables were set with placemats at each spot and cushioned chairs. A nice change from the usual wooden chairs at most restaurants. It's like they invite you to stay a while, linger over your meal and enjoy. I've never been to Italy but I've read many things about it and imagine this is how they wanted their restaurant to feel. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some delicious sounding recommendations. We started with some Bruschetta and calamari appetizers. We didn't want anything too heavy to fill us up before the main course. The bruschetta was lovely with a generous portion of tomato. I liked the way they added cheese to the bread before topping with tomato. This kept the bread crisp longer. The calamari was lightly breaded and served with an aioli sauce. I think it's a popular appetizer in most restaurants but it's not my favorite so I didn't taste it. For my entree, I ordered Chicken Scaloppini Francesce. My chicken was lightly breaded and very tender. The lemon wine sauce was delicious and I dipped each piece into it as I took each bite. I had mine with a side of spaghetti. Every bite was delicious but I took most of my spaghetti home because I needed to save room for dessert! Our server brought over a tray of delicious choices. Creme brûlée, cheesecake, chocolate torte, bread pudding, tiramisu, sorbet, and a napoleon. Everything looked amazing but my husband and I decided to share the napoleon. I've never seen one on a dessert menu so this was a treat. It was a large portion but the flakey layers of puff pastry were crisp and the cream filling was light and not too sweet. It was just perfect and SO delicious! I would definitely recommend this dessert. It was perfect for sharing with someone as well. Sorry Yelpers! I didn't get any pics because I was there with a large party and visiting with longtime friends I haven't seen in years. We went to this establishment on Friday evening around 5:30/6:00pm. My kids had regular butter noodles with some red sauce. I chose the meat lasagna. By the time I got home, I ended up with food poisoning. The service was mediocre. They brought dessert out with all our dinner dishes still on the table. A friend picked the place. This was my one and only visit. There were seven of us. The service was okay. Our waiter kept pushing bottles of wine on us. I have come here for several years and it is our go-to place for special meals. We are retired on a fixed income, so it is a special treat to come here but the food is always so excellent, that the occasional "splurge" makes it OK to make the budget groan a little. Friends of ours from out of town have characterized their dining experience as the "best ever". I should also mention that both of us are from Italian grandparents from Italy so we have grown up with good Italian food. Normally, other "Italian restaurants" do not get a good rating from us, but Bistro D'Antonio has never failed to please. We should probably go any other day of the year because the staff will not be as distracted by a holiday evening when they are fully booked and have many large parties, but our Christmas eve dinner was quite wonderful. Happy anniversary to my wife and I we made 15 years so we decided to celebrate our anniversary at this wonderful Italian restaurant in Waxhaw North Carolina. The food was delicious the service was top notch there's nothing more that I can say about this place. You must come out and try it the scenery is classy the drinks were so tasty the calms oh the yummy calms were so garlicky!! I had the tropical mojito my wife had a drink called the lovely we also had Chicken Francese with vegetables Eggplant Parmesan with vegetables, and a complimentary beard basket with olive oil and vinegarette. We ended the night off with a wonderful dessert named Napoleon. I give this place 10 out of 10 madrones This place is top notch it's classy like a gentleman and sweet like a lady. How ya doin!! Just had takeout and was very disappointed! The first time we got takeout at the Bistro, it was excellent! Not so the second time! I ordered CalMari which was scant and poorly prepared. Some was "rubbery" and not crispy! Some pieces snapped like crackers when bent and were dry! In all, very disappointing. My wife ordered the Tagliatelle with chicken and shrimp. There were 3 shrimp and the chicken was in slivers. The pasta was cooked well but the garlic was way overdone! Perhaps it was a bad day in the kitchen and the place was busy but I felt like I just flushed $50 down the toilet! read more

Service was friendly and our order was ready upon arrival. Our order was also correct. I encourage others to check them out online for information about their specials. The food was reasonably priced. The food was also seasoned well and of good portion size. We ordered a shrimp parmesan with pasta, calamari.
