First time at Emmet's and left disappointed. Arrived and seated promptly so a good start. Our server came over and took our drink orders. It took a while to get our drinks and they were not busy. If they were busy I was willing to overlook that but they were not so not sure what happened but we did eventually get our drinks. We started with the Emmet's Trio and the German beef sliders. The trio was just ok. The pickles were the star of that dish. The tomatoes were bland and the eggs were also just ok. Next we had the sliders. The pretzel bun was great, the burger ok but again lacked flavor. I think if there was more of the mustard, it might have helped but disappointed. We tried one more dish, the buffalo chicken dip. It was also not bad just not great and lacked really any heat. It did have a good amount of chicken so there was a positive. The chips were just ok. Throughout the meal we really only saw our server a few times, drinks ran empty so not impressed. Emmet's wasn't awful but they didn't do anything that was great and leave me wanting to come back. Very disappointing service experience today! I came with my husband and two kids. Our kids are neurodivergent, and often struggle with food, which I know can be frustrating for servers and staff to deal with. The kids had several issues with the food that we asked kindly to be changed, but our server showed no compassion or empathy, and got frustrated with us. I get it is frustrating for the server. It is also frustrating as the parent to constantly navigate food issues at home, and at restaurants, though. She also did not ask what she could do to make it better, offer to take it off the bill, etc. One of the kids sliders were pink on the inside, so we asked for them to be taken off the bill, which the manager ended up doing, but the server was still very rude about it. We will not come back because we did not feel welcome as a family, nor any compassion with navigating food challenges. The server could definitely use some training on how to work with kids with neurodivergence. And also for her to be mindful that you never know what parents are navigating, so a little kindness goes a long way. read more

Took some out of town friends to Emmets last weekend but all did not go well. Reception was very pleasant but sat us at an uneven table that rocked back and force so we moved to the next table by the wall. As we were waiting for our drinks we noticed a lot of ants on the wall right next to us. Asked to be moved to another table. Unfortunately the first waitress did not explain to the next that we had already placed our orders. Once they were on the same page the first waitress came over several times to apologize. Unfortunately by then some of us had received our food and she keep leaning over the plates to speak to us. One of our guests never received her food and we had to ask several times if they could check on it. Her food arrived after the rest of us were pretty much finished. The food and drink were ok (not the best that we had had there) but they did adjust the bill for us. Just not the experience we wanted for our guests. read more

will start by saying that the food was fine, nothing special but fine for the venue, and the place is very nice. The service on the other hand was comically poor. Our server was really a nice kid, but they were inexperienced and did not seem to be at all trained or understand how to handle the job. Maybe management needs to do a little bit better? The food was brought out haphazardly, some people at the table eating while others were just waiting. Same for drinks, dessert, coffee. Emmet's Social Table is one of my favorite places to dine in Waxhaw, NC. It's located in a turn of the 19th century former Cotton Mill. And it's not a typical type of restaurant, it's American Style Tapas. The concept is one designed around guests sharing multiple rounds of food, allowing for different flavor experiences in just one dining experience. And there's so many amazing flavor experiences. In fact I'm craving their South Main Deggs as I type this. I've never really been into deviled eggs. I could take them or leave them, but these are insanely good. They're fresh deviled eggs with pork belly and pepper jelly drizzle and I seriously crave them anytime I'm in the area. There is plenty of space to relax and enjoy a throwback craft cocktail, local draft, or a glass of wine. Whether in their spacious bar area, dining room, or out on the large front patio featuring a 10-seat fire pit, plenty of smaller tables, and our "Social Table" that seats 16 guests from one or multiple parties. We fit our large family in the outside space and enjoyed so much good food. Service was great even with so many people. Our waitress was kind and efficient. There's the Korean Glazed wings that are slow roasted and grilled. They have a great kick and are super tasty. I loved the Kale Yeah! Salad. It was kale, goat cheese, candied pecans, and dried cranberries with honey citrus vinaigrette. This was so light and tasty. The Poke Stuffed Avocado was an avocado filled with sesame, soy, and garlic marinated ahi tuna. This was super fresh. We also enjoyed the chicken and waffles with maple siracha syrup! The chicken was juicy and the waffles were tasty. I loved the kick of the syrup. The fried green tomatoes were a pleasant surprise as my grandma used to make us fried green tomatoes when I was little. These came complete pimento cheese and sauce. My grandma would have loved these. There are several flatbreads too choose from. We went with the Figgy Flatbread complete with fig, prosciutto, arugula, and herb goat cheese. The combination of flavors was excellent. Even the shoestring Mills fries were amazing. They came out with curry ketchup, homemade ranch, and cheese dip. We ate so much food and everything was so good. I love that we were able to get a bit of everything that came out. We took some of it home and it's even delicious the next day. They also do desserts, but I didn't have any room left to try any of them. If you're ever in the Waxhaw, NC area (they also have a location in Fort Mills, SC) you should definitely stop in and enjoy a plate or two or three. read more

As usual the Food and Service were awesome. We ordered our daughter's food, when we ordered our drinks, so she wouldn't have to wait too long. When we finished our waiter asked if we wanted any dessert? Our daughter had seen the Skillet S'Mores so we decided to get it. This was her first dinner out since recovering from the Flu. A few minutes after ordering it our waiter came back with quite an explanation as to why it was going to take at least 15 minutes. He said that it was heated in the same oven as the Flat Breads. Normally orders as made as they print in the kitchen. It shouldn't make a difference whether it's an Appetizer, Entree or Dessert, they should be made in the order they print in the kitchen. Quite a disappointment tonight as we weren't going to wait. Instead our daughter had Salted Caramel Ice Cream. We love Waxhaw Creamery but it wasn't quite the same as an In House made dessert read more

Went with my family and enjoyed snacking. Service was horrific and our server had clearly been thrown into the deep end and had 0 training whatsoever. No items blew me out of the water. I did enjoy the fried pickles though.The brick and tall smokestack looked nice and overall the inside was clean. The area around the restaurant was beautiful.But if you go on the weekends, expect some parking issues, like not being able to find a spot. read more

Invited to dinner tonight by my Soul Family, to Emmets Social Table in Waxhaw. Oh my goodness that area has grown so much over the past decade+ it reminded me of what Union County was like when I first arrived 20 years ago. A clean, quaint downtown area on South Main Street (and a parallel street with a Jekyl and Hyde and other shoppes) with so many small cozy places to visit/eat etc. I cannot wait to go back and try "Holy Cannoli" .... "Capriccis" .... "Foxs Pizza Den" ... "Mary O'Neills Irish Pub" to name only a few by the way! Something tells me this is a Foodies Paradise!! In any case, if you have an opportunity to get out that way, it's approximately 10 miles from Ballantyne and 12 miles from Indian Trail. I wish I had gotten pictures of all the dishes, but even more reason for me to go back - and I definitely will be back! The crabcakes were very good ---- figured I was on a roll lately so, why not "More Crab Cake" (queue up the cowbell reference )! this is the fourth crabcake entrée I've had in four weeks There were stuffed avocados, Korean wings, homemade kettle chips - that were absolutely fabulous with a beautiful, flavorful, buffalo chicken dip! Baby back ribs, a wedge salad with bacon, German Sliders, BLT Sliders. South Main Deggs - Deviled Eggs - were really good (I think the only time I've ever had fried deviled egg was at Webb custom kitchen, if I'm not mistaken?) with pork belly and pepper jelly drizzle. Look at the beautiful bed of minced tomato and greenery that they sat on! It was so pretty. The Brussels glazed with a Sriracha honey and and bacon were so good as well! Very flavorful and roasted beautifully. Perfect texture in my opinion. The kettle chips were tied with one of my favorites - the fried green tomatoes. Holy cow. They were the perfect thickness (thinner), crisp on the outside, beautiful on the inside, really really good! Homemade pimento cheese on the side, which was pretty good as well. A little thick for my taste, but then we make homemade pimento cheese so I promise it's just a personal preference comment. There was nothing wrong with the pimento cheese being thick. We finished with ice cream cones that everybody got to sample, four different flavors. I asked the server to pick. Each flavor was very good, creamy fresh not overly sweet really well done. So good and refreshing they didn't make it in house it was brought in from Waxhaw Creamery! I believe it's not far from Emmets. Their other desserts I believe one of them was peach cobbler? Was made in house. We left at approximately 8 o'clock I believe? And there was a small group of folks outside waiting for a table so they definitely fill up. I'd recommend reservations if you go later on a Saturday versus 5 PM - 5:30 PM. I know this is really long, but I promise Emmets is absolutely worth a visit and while you're at it? Take a walk and maybe try a holy cannoli or a cup of tea from the tea shop or go into the small art gallery!! I know I'm missing a bunch of really unique places, but that just means you're gonna have to go and see for yourself. Oh! Take a look at the prices on the menu. You absolutely cannot beat that! Seriously, good quality, food, small plates, wonderful service really cool environment in atmosphere and a nice outdoor space. Oh! I had no idea, but there's actually Mills that they turned into - I want to say maybe condos or apartments? Just a really quaint place - and you need more than one visit to experience everything. This place has really good food a great ambience. It can be a little bit crowded on the weekends, but that's typical for anywhere in Waxhaw.

If there were a three plus that would be the case. When Emmets opened, the menu was so veggie that my wife and I kissed it off. About two years later we met people who chose Emmets for a lunch at it was OK, since they had added a few more items to their menu. Recently we received a gift card thanking us for cat care, so we went back last week. Great improvement on the menu. They now have more meat and options that are not pure veggie. It has become popular and is crowded. So menu now is in that 4 star range for us. Getting a table is a chore, involving a lot of waiting. They have a wait list, but you can't get on it in advance, like the day before or hours before the day you would like to eat. You can call and they tell you that they do not have a wait list until you arrive. What about a call-ahead reservation? Well, depends on the hostess. On my call, we told the hostess that we were coming and would be there in less than 30 minutes. Arriving, we waded through the crowd outside and the pack of people at the hostess station to, at least, get on their in-person wait list. The young hostess told us it would be at least 30 minutes and when she took our name, the more experienced and customer-centric hostess interrupted, saying, "Oh, I have their name. Seat them now." And so it was that we experienced their now more acceptable menu. Our server, Ashley M. was pleasant and efficient, as she had a number of tables. She takes the orders, someone else serves, she checks on us and only after we indicate that we want to be billed does that happen. Bar was good and food that we ordered was good. Wife had flatbread special and a wedge salad. A lot to eat, so I helped. Wedge had blue cheese so if you are not a fan of blue cheese, be award and ask to have it taken off the salad. I had the baby back ribs...which turned out to be a full rack as you could not order a portion of a full rack unless it was one of the listed pairings. OK...I took home a good sized lunch for the next day. The baby back ribs are dry rubbed and I asked for the BBQ sauce on the side, as I do not like sauce slathered on already nicely rubbed ribs. Order the sauce on the side. We won't be rushing back, but now we realize that if you do, we can find acceptable items on their menu. read more

I had a great Monday mid-afternoon lunch! I enjoyed the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant. The food was fresh and tasty, drinks and dessert were really good, and the service was superb. What a wonderful and unique place for lunch after a site visit for work. Hubby and I ordered the South Main Deggs (fried deviled eggs with pork belly & pepper jelly drizzle) and the Kale Yeah salad (kale, goat cheese, red onions, candied pecans & dried cranberries with honey citrus vinaigrette). Both items were scrumptious and the deviled eggs were a unique take on the southern classic. The pepper jelly drizzle and pork belly topping really bring it all together and add an amazing flavor explosion. The service is professional and attentive and the ambiance is incredible in the fact that there is sooooo much history here. The restaurant is part of what was once an old cotton mill and the old smoke stack outside is still in place. One of the dining room walls has a mural of an old Sanborn Fire Insurance Map of the town of Waxhaw and it shows the old mill on there and surrounding dwellings. Behind the property there are railroad tracks and over that is the Historical Waxhaw Overhead Bridge that is pretty cool to take pics from if you want to walk off your lunch. Only negative was that we bought a jar of the divine pepper jelly and it was confiscated by TSA before we boarded our flight home. Whomp whomp whommmmmmppp......that was my mistake. It's so good! I love coming here. I'm giving 4 stars only because they could switch up the menu a bit or add something new every once in a while. The vibe is super retro, and the outdoor seating is quiet, nicely dim, and cozy with heaters and TVs. It's not huge outdoor, which I actually love. The inside is comfortable and relaxing, and the long bar is great if you want to sit there and enjoy a drink or meal. Clean bathrooms, friendly staff -- always a great experience overall! read more

The flavors of the dishes work so well together! I've never had such tasty arugula as in the arugula and fig flatbread. So good! The fried deviled eggs were amazing too. I'd say the German sliders were the weakest of our plates due to burger being overcooked and lacking enough seasoning, but everything else was great. My fiancé also had the fried green tomatoes and they were good too, though not as good as the flatbread and deviled eggs either. And the mule was delicious and strong! Very fresh. read more

We had an absolutely fantastic lunch experience at Emmet's! First of all, the space is absolutely fantastic. It is a historic building but the restaurant feel inside is modern and fresh. Our waitress Bridget was so pleasant and helpful. We had two kids in our group and she made sure their food came out first and that the adults always had a full drink cup. We basically tried the entire menu and everything was delicious! From the wedge salad, to the poke stuffed avocados, to the BBQ ribs and tomato soup shooters, you cannot go wrong with anything you pick. The overall experience is top notch. We will definitely stop in again on our next visit to Waxhaw. read more

Great location in a wonderfully restored mill, Emmet's aim is "to provide a unique dining experience by offering freshly composed small plates that stay current with evolving trends." And on that they hit it out of the park. Thankfully, not another meat-and-three place. On a sunny yet chilly November we sauntered into the old brick mill. Greeted promptly we opted for inside seating despite the seduction of the outdoor area with the stainless propane heaters chugging out their heat. We reviewed the menu and made our choices. Later, even after years of international travel, we confessed to one another our rookie mistakes: all our selections were fried, and some were not preferred by the other. They're sharables! Ugh. My fried oyster sliders were awesome, and I'd order them again--even now. Lori's Nashville chicken sliders were hammered--too much time in the fryer rendering them tough and dry, and the sauce was siracha squirted over it. Huge miss. The fried green tomatoes were a draw. I liked them and she hated them as again, over-fried and too much grease. The pimento cheese is the wrong sauce to cut through the richness of the fryer. Many of my "Yelp Posse of Pals" group is split between 2 and 4 stars. I'll split the difference at 3-stars. If the fry chef had used a deft hand and dressed the tapas with more sauce this is a solid 5-star restaurant. I'm encouraged Waxhaw is attracting more sophisticated restaurateurs and Emmet's has my "Give 'em a whirl" meter looking for a pitch right down the middle. Today, it was high and slightly outside. I've had great meals at Emmett's Social Table in the past, which is why I was excited to bring my mom and other family members but unfortunately, this visit was a huge letdown. It was half-priced wine bottle night, yet they didn't have enough wine glasses for the table...that's really bad. Then, they got our wine order wrong, and made excuses instead of offering a simple fix or apology. We waited over 20 minutes without anything to drink besides water, and no one offered to comp or even acknowledge the inconvenience. On top of that, the food was subpar this time around, which was especially disappointing given how much I had hyped it up to my family. Yes we got the deggs and several other of my normal top choices at Emmett's. I haven't been since Christmas and I won't be going back anytime soon or recommending it. The worst part is that we run an Airbnb in the neighborhood and we always recommend it. Unfortunately, I will have to remove this due to our personal experience this time. read more

Let me start out by saying that my fam and I are usually big fans of Emmets. Unfortunately, it's not the same as when they first opened. To start with I think for a place that's supposed to be so "trendy" it's time for a menu upgrade. It's been the same menu for like 10 years. My daughter and I have been there twice in the last month and a half and the food was honestly just meh. The first time we ordered this menu special which was a grilled peach salad. It was just awful, the peaches were mush and just not tasty overall. The salad had zero seasoning. When we were there this past weekend, we got the wedge salad. There was little to no dressing at all. The balsamic & blue cheese was barely there but what bothered me most was the color and texture of the bacon. It looked grayish and old and it was super soft. Not appealing. Also the grilled cheese and tomato shooters (one of our most fav orders), what happened to this poor dish?? The soup was so peppery and watered down. Stopped through on our way to SC with our dog and were so glad to find somewhere we could bring him for outdoor seating. The food was phenomenal!! So glad the server explained a tapa style as it was our first time and so much fun! We had the Korean wings, Philly tacos, and chicken and waffles. So much better to share versus order something each. She suggested we wait til each plate came out before ordering the next. So glad we did. Price was so reasonable for three dishes. And the server even brought us water for the dog and a little fly fan for our table to keep pests away. The setting was so cute and servers were all so nice.
