We stopped here because they filmed Chainsaw Massacre here. The BBQ plate was okay but not worth the price we paid. It was nice seeing it but it's a tourist trap really not worth visiting since Hollywood told them to remove the vehicle that was parked outside and used in the film and to prohibited the sales of merchandise.

If you love Texas based horror movies, beer, and bbq then you need to put this on your list of places to visit! The inside of the shop is a fun store full of movie memorabilia and souvenirs to buy. And while it is loaded with stuff from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you can find goodies from other movies in the genre as well. Grab a cold beer from the fridge, order your bbq at the counter and make your way outside. There is a large covered outdoor seating area with plenty of places for photo ops to commemorate the stop. And cars, lots of outside cats just hanging around. They have several cabins on the ground as well, I need to look into renting for a longer excursion with friends. Private parking lot, easily accessible, friendly staff, good food, and clean bathrooms make it a great stop on any road trip.

Fun place to visit if you were into the movie. Friends we were traveling with had to go here. I'm glad I tagged along after listening to the story. I have never had the desire to watch the movie but I enjoy going to places that were featured in a movie. I didn't eat there but snooped around the property. They have some small cabins you can stay in. I saw a couple check in and borrow some horror movies from the counter. The shop is cool if you need costumes or accessories for Halloween.

It's a fun place to come to, though a bit of a novelty. The BBQ sandwich is good. The beer is cold. But it's not what you normally think of as a restaurant. It's more of a recreation of a scene from a movie. But that's pretty cool. It was a bit of a drive for us, but we're enjoyed ourselves. We sat in the back in a large covered porch area at a picnic table. The gentleman who served us was in the spirit of the whole thing, which really helped. He was fun. It's a tribute to the Texas Chain Saw Massacre movies and has a real connection to the franchise. There's memorabilia and a macabre ambiance. I'm pretty sure the BBQ sandwich is just beef though. I mean... at least, WE didn't end up in the menu, lol.

This barbecue joint is located 5 miles down SH304 assuming you're coming from Austin on Highway 71. Despite its name, there is no gas station here so don't plan on filling up except on bbq. Once inside, you'll be surrounded by Texas chainsaw massacre memorabilia, masks, action figures and merchandise. This place is rustic at best and if you plan on eating here, it's strictly covered outdoor picnic tables here. Basically you order at the counter inside and then you are directed to the back where they also have some small cabins to rent ($79 per night M-Th, $129 F-S). Paying by credit card will subject you to a tip screen starting at 15%. They also have cans of soda and plenty of domestic beer offerings, but nothing in the way of craft beer or wine. Brisket and sausage are the only two meats they serve here and the brisket does have a good solid smoke ring on it. We were surprised that a two meat plate with 2 sides was less than $15. The brisket was so moist and perfectly smoked that I got a pound to go. You can use one or two of their barbecue sauces which are also very good. The jalapeño sausage wasn't very spicy and their sides are pretty average, but all in all, glad we made the pilgrimage.

Came here for the first time with my family. We unfortunately did not order any bbq because we had just eaten. The outside of this store and the 2 vehicles from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie were awesome to look at and take photos of. They have a bench outside the store that pays tribute to the characters from the movie. In the store are tons of cool toys and figures from classic horror characters and my favorite ninja turtles. They also sell clothes, Halloween masks, and many other cool items. The staff are friendly. This is where you would order your bbq and get your order where you can walk around to the backside where there are a few picnic tables to hangout at. The parking lot is really small so hopefully it isn't too busy.

This isn't the norm for us, again when in the area known for BBQ you can't just skip & miss out. We read about this place while eating burgers establishment that we thought had BBQ. Gas Station off the beaten path, however well worth the drive. Yes, once a movie scene, there are a number of curious folks who were stopping in. You walk into a gas station which has been converted to a sort of shop. The shop sells a lot of horror memorabilia from various movies, a lot of interesting items. The sales woman want to say her name was Patty. Anyway Patty was very friendly & took the time to explain their food items. Patty literally described all the food to us, which helped us decide what to order. Remind you we had just had our dinner of burgers & fries. The brisket here, I cannot stress how juicy, tasty & tender. The spicy sausage was amazing, different kind of spice never the less very good. The potato salad, smooth, & not overly spiced, left you wanting more. The beans were pretty smooth & tasty. No regrets here, definitely try to return back. Hard to find establishments with good food. Gas Station delivers on great brisket, sausage, potato salad & beans. Don't miss out!

My Husband and I decided to stop here on our way back from Austin. This is the original gas station from the 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre film. There are a few props from the movie, along with a dedication memorial to the actors and actresses who passed. & Also note... This is not a real gas station. The inside of the store is filled with all kinds of horror merchandise that you can purchase. We went around lunch time on a Sunday afternoon, and it was quite busy. Everyone was standing in line for their famous BBQ! The brisket plate was absolutely amazing. It came with two sides, which I picked the potato salad and beans. The brisket was so tender and moist! Perfectly seasoned and perfectly smoked! Probably the best brisket I've had in a long time! We didn't dine out back because it was so HOT, but there are a bunch of tables to sit at in a covered area behind the store. There are also cabins that you can rent, if you are brave enough to spend the night. Overall, we had a pleasant experience! Our tummies were totally satisfied. We will definitely be back if we are ever on that side of town!

Awesome place !!! Great brisket awesome horror movie merchandise! A must stop for anyone who loves tcm

To preface I have never saw the movie associated with this location... While driving to Houston from Austin my friend swore we had to stop here... ...with low expectations I walked in. And did not even realize it was a restaurant. It's loaded with posters, toys, and everything horror you could imagine... After walking around a bit I saw the menu. Ordered a brisket sandwich and a side of sausages... Ultra friendly service from the owners and the place is spotless! The sandwich was fantastic. Though it needed sauce, this sandwich set the bar for a lot of other places that ultimately fell short. This is a must stop for anyone remotely in the area! Please support these small places so they'll be around forever!

I genuinely cannot believe I've never written a review for Paw-Paw's Catfish House because we have…read morebeen coming here for YEARS and I love this place so much. There are restaurants you try once because they're trendy... and then there are places like Paw-Paw's -- the kind that become part of your family's story over time. From the fried deviled eggs, to the seafood platters, to the chicken tenders, to the genuinely wonderful staff, there just isn't a better spot for this kind of old-school comfort food experience. And the staff? Always SO friendly and welcoming. Every single time we come in, it feels less like "customer service" and more like old friends excited you finally stopped by so they can catch up with you awhile. That kind of warmth cannot be faked, and it makes such a difference. Now let's discuss these fried deviled eggs. Because respectfully... who allowed them to be this good? You think deviled eggs have reached their final form and then Paw-Paw's comes in like, "Hold my beer." Crispy, crunchy, creamy, flavorful perfection. We start most meals with them because not ordering them would simply be poor decision making at this point. I usually get the chicken tender basket and LISTEN -- these aren't sad little freezer tenders pretending to be a meal. These tenders are literally as big as my hand. Juicy, tender, flavorful, cooked perfectly every time. My adult kids are obsessed with the seafood platter: three pieces of fried catfish and three jumbo fried shrimp with fries, pinto beans, slaw, hushpuppies, and homemade tartar or cocktail sauce. And when I say the catfish tastes CLEAN, my fellow seafood people will understand exactly what I mean. No muddy taste, no weirdness -- just fresh, crispy, perfectly fried fish done right. And the portions? Paw-Paw did NOT come to play. Nobody is leaving hungry unless that was a personal choice. What I love most, though, is the feeling of the place. The small-town care. The heart that clearly goes into the food. The old-school comfort vibe that feels increasingly rare these days. Places like this matter. And Paw-Paw's is absolutely one of them.

Note to self...if forced to choose between power shopping with friends and putting gas in your car, choose the gas. Everything is bigger in Texas, and Buc-ee's may be the poster child for that saying. From the moment you pull into the parking lot, the scale is impressive. Rows upon rows of gas pumps stretch across multiple sections, making it feel more like a fueling complex than a gas station. OMG!!! Step inside, and the experience gets even bigger. The place is enormous, with bright lighting, oversized signage, and enough merchandise to keep you wandering through the store for hours. Buc-ee's branding is everywhere, from water bottles and tumblers to outdoor furniture and clothing. One of the first things you'll notice is how incredibly clean everything is, especially the restrooms. My favorite feature? The red and green occupancy lights above each stall, eliminating the awkward lean-and-peek maneuver to check for availability. The food selection is a major highlight and far beyond what you'd expect from a typical travel stop. Fresh barbecue, brisket tacos, sandwiches, and the famous Beaver Nuggets are at your fingertips. There is also an astonishing selection of jerky, both packaged and freshly sliced, along with endless snacks, sweets, and drinks. And yes, they even have an in-store tortilla station. I definitely wasn't expecting that. Buc-ee's stands out for its sheer variety. Beyond the food, you'll find clothing for adults and children, swimwear, home goods, souvenirs, gifts, and enough Texas-themed merchandise to outfit an entire ranch. It feels like a travel center, gift shop, convenience store, and mini department store all rolled into one-stop shopping. Needless to say, Buc-ee's is a whole vibe. What started as a quick gas stop turned into an unexpectedly entertaining detour, and I thoroughly enjoyed my swing through.

I hadn't been to this location in a while. It is a typical Buc-ee's, though it seems smaller than…read moresome of the newer stores. The gas prices are lower than most, and the restrooms are clean, which are definitely positives. However, I've started to notice that food prices are getting too high for my budget. Additionally, I've observed a decline in the quality of some items they make in-store, like the BBQ sandwiches. Furthermore, this location isn't the easiest to exit if you're heading east on Highway 71. I hope they keep their prices competitive, but I'm seeing more competition around them, so I might start trying other places. Ultimately, price is the most important factor for me.
