Hadn't been in a while but decided to stop by Saturday for lunch with my family. Service was great, friendly and attentive. We all ordered different sandwiches, burgers and a salad and everyone was very happy either their meals. The salad was large and packed full of ingredients which is always appreciated. The burger was large and juicy and my son throughly enjoyed it. They were a little light on the fries as a side though. Overall, very happy with our food, prices and service and can't wait to go back and try their Sunday brunch. read more

It pops up for gluten free, but none of the food is actually safe for celiacs disease. They have one item that's ok for someone on a gluten free diet for diet/fun purposes but not for an actual allergy. Drinks are great, loved the wine marg and service was great. My wife and I had lunch today at Stem & Stone in Bastrop, Texas and you should go out of your way to give it a try! My wife had a Greek salad and I had a shredded pork sandwich with fries. We had a super cool server whose name is Janae. She was really attentive, friendly, and helpful, which made our visit even more pleasant. We were impressed by the number and range of menu options. The restaurant is relatively new, having opened in 2020 just before they (and we) were slammed by Covid 19. They also have a very nice bar, but I was driving today so I stuck with iced tea. :-) I hope you will visit Stem & Stone yourself. You'll be grateful to me for suggesting it. read more

I just happened upon this place at lunch time on the way to Fredericksburg and yum!! I had loaded fries with pulled pork and a spring salad with strawberry vinaigrette. The fries were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and covered with a delicious creamy queso. Absolutely delicious! The salad was equally delicious with fresh ingredients, creamy feta, and addictive dressing. I would come back and get exactly the same thing! It's a cute place to enjoy a nice meal. We went over to Stem & Stone this evening for an early date night. I have really enjoyed their food on previous occasions. Tonight we had the meat and cheese charcuterie board and we really liked everything on it and the price was reasonable. We did have to ask for some additional bread because it didn't come with quite enough. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. We both had a glass of wine and probably should've gotten a bottle because it was a little pricey. They have a small dining area but it's normally not very crowded. They do have a bar area but we have always utilize the dining area. I would definitely recommend stem and stone but if you want any of their charcuterie boards, they only offer them on Friday and Saturday! read more

First time at this local restaurant. The food was good. Staff was very pleasant. It wasn't super busy and it was nice and spacious. However, the most impressive thing for me was that the waiter got my 2.5 year olds order and put it in before we finished ordering. So it was out fast. For those who have young kiddos know how awesome this was. This was the first time anyone has ever done this for us and I was very impressed. I will be recommending this spot to my local friends for sure. Oh and they have alcohol options. That's just not my thing so I came for the food. My husband and I came to Stem & Stone for our anniversary. We arrived at 5 pm when they open. We ordered a bottle of wine, and some festa fries. They were absolutely delicious! We split a steak panini and the buffalo chicken salad. My husband said the panini was delicious and the buffalo chicken salad was one of the best tasting salads I've had in the Bastrop area. Bastrop is less rural and more "city living" because of this place. They have a really nice selection of beer with beer flights for tasting. They offer a Sunday brunch with a flight of mimosas. Great burgers. On weekends they offer charcuterie and cheese trays, which you can pair with a flight of wine. Their offerings vary a bit depending on day of week and time of day, but it's always a good time. Our last wine flight there included a Hess Cab, which we really liked, and this is surprising because we're California wine snobs and this is a Texas wine. Our only complaint on the last trip was the low quality Christmas music spilling from cheap speakers and bouncing off the walls. If it was my place, I'd address that right away. But outside of that, we really love the place. We've been here at least a half dozen times now, alone and with various guests. And we will return again :-) Charles served us tonight, and he was friendly and attentive. In fact, we've always had good and friendly service here. They all seem to really enjoy working there, and to me, that says a lot. read more

Placed our orders as soon as we got waited on, and it took nearly an hour to get the food. The burger was terrible (should have taken a photo). They don't have any gluten free buns or bread. The only vegetarian gluten-free option is salad. My husbands burger that he ordered he said wasn't anything special. He said the fries weren't seasoned well. Our Gouda cheese from board was covered in lint and had 2 small hairs on it. No gluten-free options for eating with the cheese. They were playing techno music super loudly. Techno.. really??? This place was very confusing. The interior design was very confusing. Not a cohesive interior. We won't be going back. read more

Maybe the best fries I have ever had. Great side salad, very good burger. Very nice service. The only negative is the tap water tested bad. The dinning area is also very echoy, but they are trying with the sound panels. (I think sound defusion works better for echo than sound absorbing panels.) read more

We stopped here as we were passing through town. We got the brunch burger and the Cajun Latkes and it was so good we forgot to take a before pic! But the after pic speaks for itself. The BEST hidden gem in Bastrop. I have eaten inside a half dozen times, and ordered take out from them at least a dozen times. Food is always immaculate. Their beer & wine selection is good - really appreciate the rotating drafts that are always from local breweries. The service has always been great. I have been in the service industry for a long time now, and feel as if I can never truly enjoy a night out because I inherently critique the bars and restaurants I go to. This is quite literally the only restaurant I've ever been to (out of thousands) where I have no complaints about the service. Not a single one. Stem & Stone is refreshing for Bastrop. Elevated (and tasty) eats, amazing service, intimate atmosphere. You are doing yourself a disservice by not visiting this gem. read more

Underrated! Must try! The food here is really good and I *never* would have found this spot had I not been invited by a friend. I accidentally drove past it three times because it's practically invisible, but wow I was so happy with my fresh salad and cheese board. I warned him of my previous experiences and didn't think the food was that great, but decided to give them one more chance (3rd time is a charm, right?). Wrong! I ordered the Big Tex burger- which they charge about $13 for a quarter pound burger (which I could go to McDonald's and get for a third of the price and would taste better- and I despise McDonald's). The burger patty was bland, the cream cheese sauce that comes on it was wayyyyyy too much (and also bland)- that took up a majority of the burger and was dripping off before I could pick it up (messy). The tomato slices in the burger were cut thicker than the burger patty itself. The fiesta fries were okay- but really the only thing we ordered that was good were the cheese curds with homemade marinara sauce. If you're going to come here- just stick with drinks and appetizers. read more

1 of our favorite restaurants in Bastrop. They are constantly evolving, trying new things, if something doesn't work they change it. They have a fantastic menu with things that appeal to both vegetarians & hard core meat eaters. Things like the Veggie Baller, a vegetarian meatball sandwich; and they smoke their own meat & make their own sauces. This is also the 2nd time they did not have the strawberry pomegranate mimosa that is on their menu because they ran out by noon. The brewmosa was also basically juice. I even saw another table open their bottle of champagne and it was a twist top that was extremely flat when poured. The only reason this place is getting 3 stars is because the food was okay as well as the service. The sausage gravy was quite thin. The frittata was an omelette. The brunch burger was good and the patty was thin, which is necessary so you don't get too stuffed. The home fries were cut and cooked well. They only have ketchup packets. Stopped by for brunch with my family on a Sunday. The server was really nice and service was fast overall. The food is not good. The waffle board was the best thing we ordered. There's no real cream for coffee (just those little gas station or diner tiny plastic containers) and the butter and jam also came from tiny plastic tubs. We went here for the first time and had the sirloin sandwiches with side salads and fries and it was great. Good flavor friendly fast service and great taste. The fries came with house dipping sauce and it was tasty not too spicy but a good addition to the great house fries. We had 2 of the blond beers and there were served cold and a large glass. Ordered the combo board & wine and was quite pleased! Very different but delicious w/r/t the combo board. I've never seen #bbq included and oh my lanta it was heavenly! Their special homemade "relish" could have been on EVERYTHING! The sweet female bartender said she wished they sold it in jars... I agreed! I would highly recommend this venue. PHENOMENAL. My husband and I stopped by because our original date night place was busy. We are so glad we stopped. This is our new date night spot. The wine? Delicious. The wine-rita? Also delicious The combo board? Perfect. Surprisingly filling and everything on the board was fresh and tasty. Bbq panini was a little dry but the pork was perfect.
