Noticed this food truck in downtown Bastrop was open late Sunday afternoon, 5-ish. I tried the small shrimp and sausage for $15. It came with corn, potatoes, and mild cajun seasoning in a lot of butter (they had 3 or so other seasoning options such as spicy). When I opened the styrofoam container I could immediately smell that strong distinct seafood boil/bay seasoning--a good thing. The shrimp were medium. Didn't count them, but at least 8. The chunks of sausage were large, fatty. Lots of butter and seasoning to go with the boiled potatoes. The food truck plaza has covered dining (picnic benches), clean concrete floors, and a nice, clean outdoor restroom with hands-free sink (soap, hands-free dryer). Finally made it by to check the place out. We were close by helping out with a friend's booth during the Mardi Gras celebration in town, and it was a busy day in Bastrop Texas. Anyway, made my way to the food court and decided I would give Bay Bay'z a long overdue visit. Now, I'm from SETX, home of some of the best seafood restaurants around, not to mention the home grown cookouts also. I ordered the large cocktail shrimp for us, with a side order of hush puppies and sausages also. You know, to try a little bit of several different things. Order placed, very reasonably priced and handed one of those little "we will beep you when it's ready" devices. As I waited, i watched the crowd moving around the court. I'm not sure the total of food trucks parked there, but what I did notice was the number of people going to Bay'z. The majority of them! The atmosphere is the best in Bastrop, especially when you're here for an event. I imagine weekdays they probably stay a little busy also. Little beeper finally tells me go fetch the food. And of course I hadda try a shrimp or 2 while heading back!! 200 feet later and I've probably had 5 or so. Can't wait to go back to get my seafood fix!! I highly recommend!!! Best seafood option in Bastrop, hands down. Your cardiologist will hate you for how much butter it is drowned in, but man was it worth the couple of years it probably took off my life and the extra napkins to clean off my hands. All of the platters I have gotten were massive and could easily make for two hearty meals. So come hungry. The service was a bit officious and they seemed in a hurry to take your order and get on to the next customer. Not your typical friendly chatter you'd expect from a small local restaurant in Bastrop, but I didn't come for the conversation so it wouldn't deter me from going back. This was the only truck open on a Sunday at 6pm-they are open until 7 and opens at 11:30 am. We got this to go- I got a crab platter (spicy)-husband got the 1/2 lb shrimp platter with Cajun. PSA- if you like Franks hot sauce. This is the flavor in the spicy. I much prefer the Cajun. Tons of potatoes, corn - the star of the meal was the sausage and I'm not usually a fan of sausage! Solid cajun seafood located in Downtown Bastrop. Here you will find in the Chestnut Grove food truck court a number of delicious options. The Bay Bay'z truck serves shrimp, fish, and other options all cajun fried and boiled style. Their seasoning is light and flavorful and the breading is light as well. Went to go visit this truck while it was in Giddings at recommendation of my father-in-law who had it the night previous. I was not greeted, but told that they were too busy to take additional orders. I get being frustrated, but you cannot treat potential customers the way I was treated. The guy came off really rude and complaining at me almost like 'how dare I come order food.' It's a real shame, because my son really liked what they had the night prior. I can tell you that I'll never seek this truck out again. Places that take their frustrations out on people wanting to give them money... that's not my vibe. read more

First off, whoever packed up my order did it with LOVE! Thank you, this meal just saved my life! It was that good, one of the best boils I have ever had and so mad at myself for not ordering from here sooner! Had the #9 Crab & Shrimp Platter cajun style and asked for extra sauce/ordered a side of butter, crab cluster was a perfect size&plenty of meat, 2 big pieces of sausage, 1 corn, a bunch of shrimp def a half lb as described and plenty of potatoes which made me so happy they're almost my fav part. Yall, these crabs legs were divine. Not only were the crab legs amazing, the corn and potatoes were too. The food looked exactly as the pictures on the side of the truck, which hardly ever happens. The service was great. Food only took about 30-40 minutes and we got 3 clusters all together with some shrimp. I definitely recommend if you're in the bastrop area. read more
