Happy hour Tater Tots / Seasoned Tots and Jalapeno Poppers(6)
    Danielle P.

As far as dive bars go, The Gin Mill is a pretty solid one. Happy hour here is an insanely good value, though service can be slow at times. On my most recent visit there was just one bartender on for happy hour taking care of the entire bar as well as the tables sitting outside, but she was moving quick and got everyone served in a decent amount of time like a pro. The inside of this bar is very old school, with large wooden bar, wooden bar stools and tables that look like they've been well worn in. Happy hour food here is served in large portions. We got seasoned tater tots and jalapeno poppers that were $6 each, along with two rounds of $5 well drinks served in surprisingly large glasses. The tater tots were delicious, but the jalapeno poppers were honestly kind of bland. Everything in this bar is also just a little bit sticky too, so watch where you're putting your elbows. But for the price, I can't really complain.

Cozy bar on the Upper West. I sat at the bar and had a Gin fizz and mac and cheese wedges before an event in the speakeasy downstairs. Those Mac and cheese wedges are yummy! Also, the happy hour deals here are awesome. $10 specialty cocktails and $6 apps. Service was great. Food came out quick. The speakeasy downstairs is cool and would be perfect for a small event. There's a bar downstairs as well. The bathrooms are clean but super tiny! The speakeasy is not accessible without using stairs.

Wow, i haven't been here in awhile. I'm super glad to be back. I came here thinking they still had the $1 beer specials but I was wrong i think it might have beer their sister location that does this. Their Dr. Pepper Bombs are so delicious and only $6 on Wednesdays lucky me. The group I was with decided to get some pitchers because they are only $14. I saw that they have cheaper wings on the weekends I definitely will be coming back for that. They were regular price today $25.99 for 16. The service so far is great and the bartenders are nice. This definitely will be a place in my rotation when I'm on a budget. I absolutely love the decor in the place the chandler's are beautiful. I loved their food too! I have to try the friend oreos when I come back.

How have I never reviewed this place? UWS staple for many years. Laid back divey pub with great happy hour specials and good bar food. Gets packed at night but now that I'm old, I'm a day drinker and home by 9pm so that's a-okay for me. They have several sister locations throughout the city with a similar vibe and specials so no need to schlep uptown if you don't want.

Phenomenal food, wonderful cocktails, and excellent service! Mike was the best bartender I've had on the upper west side! He knew exactly what to make for me and my friends when we were there watching the ravens game, and made my friends birthday extra special! The dollar wings were a highlight of the night and our other bartender, Lexi was crushing the vibes with her music selection! I will be coming back here time and time again.

Local crafty beer for $8, hooray!

Does not honor online happy hour prices. Be prepared to pay double, and they will laugh while they charge you.

We had the unfortunate idea to grab some food here as we enjoyed some games (btw it's $15 a person to play indefinitely as long as they have space for your group). We ordered the burger, chicken sandwich, Cajun fries, hummus and pita and tater tots. For such a spacious location, they must have a play kitchen because most of the food was inedible. The "best" thing about my chicken sandwich (three tenders- was not even a patty) was the brioche bread. The "best" thing about the hummus was the pita. My friend took two bites of the burger and felt sick. We thought we had been pranked but felt sad about throwing so much food away. Just don't do it. I don't want to think about this food ever again. If you must, apparently the coffee was good and they have other drinks and pastries (which they hopefully outsource!).

This is a great grab and go/delivery alternative to Wonder, at much higher quality. The first time I ordered just aioli garlic fries to try the place out. they were hot, tasty, and a generous portion- just what I was craving coming home late. I then tried their special cheesesteak w brocolli and provolone which was also good and ordered chicken tenders for a friend. I tried my friend's chicken tenders and they were great so ordered those for my 3rd visit. They usually come 4 large tenders to an order with a sauce of your choice. A testament to their taste- I ate 2 and saved 2 for the next day and a family member visiting got to them before I did, and then asked where they were from to order more! I appreciate being able to have a selection of sauces to choose from and the portion size for the sauce is a larger cup than most places. The first time I ordered the tenders for my friend they had been sliced into- but that has not happened since and those tenders were especially large. It was their initial opening period and my guess is they did that to ensure the chicken was thoroughly cooked. The tenders were still hot and not dry. For ordering: you can either order online or in store at one of the two large digital tablets - luddites fear not- each time I have visited, I was warmly greeted by a staff member I now know to be named Justine who offered assistance and to let her know abt any questions regarding the menu or ordering. For customer service: there was a mistake with one of my first orders. I submitted a form on the website and was contacted that evening. It was handled promptly and professionally. I would probably give them 4 stars if not for the exceptional service and their first month open, what would really be lovely to see on the menu salads or a side vegetable as the other Olde City locations have. Hoping they're able to expand their menu as they establish their roots but wishing this business success!
