I've been back to the "Smoking" dive bar and not much has changed. There is a small shift in crowd so average age is 58 on most nights. Not all dive bars have the smoke issue. So if you like the Smokiness of a dive bar, going home smelling like an ashtray, and hanging with older cool people is your thing than you're home here. I think there's better choices within walking distance. It would be nice if the owner didn't respond with a snarky comment and maybe took constructive criticism, fix your exhaust system and I would happily give you a 4 rating for an authentic dive bar. As you can tell by the owners response they don't care and not going to change. Staff are friendly, and at least the one bartender isn't asleep behind the bar (maybe they switched him out or I came on a day he wasn't there). I'll give it a 2 star rating because it looks like they're cleaning up and painting a bit, but it really should be a one. EP Listening Lounge is clean 1 block away Ryan's is a dive bar, a bit clampish for my taste but whatever Vassar Lounge has lots of parking and pool tables, but more than walking distance I think there's a new scene happening off 6th street or is that 4th, new changes down there. This bar is HANDS DOWN my favorite in Reno. We stop here every time we're in town. I love the owner Kathy. Chris and TJ are awesome!! They are usually tending bar when we come in. Wonder Bar is a true diamond in the rough. I've always enjoyed the customers as much as the staff, regardless of the review left by Tiffany S. What Tiffany forgot to mention was that her mother forgot to teach her simple manners, like saying "Excuse me" when she bumps into people...weird concept right?! Really fun atmosphere! Everyone is super social and friendly and all the bartenders are really cool people.

Visiting a friend in Reno, she brought me to her favourite hang out. It's now my favourite hang out and I want to pick it up and bring it home with me. The barkeeps were awesome, especially TJ. I felt like I'd known her for years. She made me feel so welcome and was very entertaining. There is a surprise walk out courtyard through the back. Charming and homey feel makes me want to return to Reno again, just to feel so at home in a bar. Cheers! read more

Here's the thing. I love wonderbar, because I love the bartenders. The reason I'm giving such a low review is because of the patrons. We went there after a wedding near by and from the moment we walked in, people were immediately put off from us. They gave us looks and were rude. Rude isn't even an appropriate response. I can honestly say I will never step foot in the bar again because of the overwhelming response of unwelcomeness we received. We are good people, we paid for our drinks, and truly went with the intention of supporting a local bar. its unfortunate to say, but if you are looking for a local chill place, this is not it. I've been wanting to stop by this place for a while as I've heard good things about it. This small, hole in the wall is not lacking for fun. It's definitely a locals bar. Very small interior, not super busy. The bartender John is super sarcastic and funny. We had a great time hanging out for St Patty's Day. They have an electronic juke box so you can pick your music which makes for a lively night catered in the direction you want it to go. Hey whatayaknow, the wonder bar is actually a pretty cool place to grab a drink! Definitely a dive bar, with grungy stools, small smokey, dark atmosphere and a backdoor that opens to a pretty sketchy alleyway, but I have to say, it was quite welcoming. The bar is obviously packed with regulars as the bartender came out from behind the bar to give everyone a big welcome hug as they walked in. He was a super nice guy and made the experience even that more fun by hanging and chatting with us. There's liquor, a juke box, a few stools, and a dart board. We come to Reno a few times a year and try to hit up a different dive bar for a drink or two before checking into our hotel. We came on a Monday afternoon and the small smoky bar was a little crowded but we were able to score some seats at the end of the bar. The other patrons were regulars - mostly crusty older retired veterans and motorcycle dudes. Cash only, no beers on tap and the usual selection of top and bottom shelf liquors available. While the bartender was friendly and pours generous shots, this bar wasn't really our style so I don't think we'll be returning read more
