What went well? Everything. I called one day as I received their number from Pella. They came out to see the door and as I suspected the wheels needed to be replaced. I ordered the wheels from Pella and they told me to call back once they arrived. Once I received the wheels, I called they remembered me and scheduled to come the next day. They fixed the wheels and my door is back to normal. Good customer service friendly staff and quality work for a decent price. The assessment fee was apart of the repair. These guys are great. About a year ago my outer pane on the fixed slider glass broke for no apparent reason. I got 4 quotes and was not in the mood to drop that kind of money. Recently we decided to tint these back windows so this repair needed to be done. I obtained several quotes to replace a 71"x 59" dual pane window (seals failed) I opted for the Glass Shop who came in "about the middle" of the quotes and, I had used them before. Staff was personable and punctual for measuring, and the window was installed within the time frame quoted. Staff was great. No complaints so far. Once the glass was installed there was a distinct difference in color. The new glass was green tinted compared to our other existing windows. Seriously green tinted compared to the other windows. (I expected some color difference due to the age of the older windows, new technology etc but it was the explanation that left me not pleased.) I was told that due to the large size of the replacement, the color difference was expected. Possible. But when compared to another window (and others) I had replaced 8 weeks prior, which was much larger, the color was still very green compared to 10 other new glass panes. So, a word of caution, make sure you ask about the different grades of glass. My option at this point is maybe to again replace this window once the side windows are ready to be replaced. An expense I don't need right now. read more

This a a long story but i will make it as short as possible, i had another company do some work for me that eneded up horrible and caused alot of problems, i clalled the Glass Shop and spoke to Kevin. I needed a second opinion and to find someone to fix the issue. He was so kind and asked me to send him pictures and after he looked at them he wrote me back and advised it was due to the poor instalation from the other compnay. He was willing to come to Lodi to meet with me and the other company and he brought a gentleman from a plaster company with him. after talking with the other company, they agreed to fix what they did wrong. Kevin also told them that if they had any questions on how to do it they could call him and i also could call him if i had questions. He also told me after the other company left that he feels they will make it right and they deserve a change to do so. I am so amazed at Kevin took the time to actually care and the great customer service. He was not like most companies that are only out to make money, He actually gave up a sale to help me and the other company. I don't think you can say that about very many companies these days. That alone i will defiantly use him in the future for any glass work i need to get done. He is very ethical and customer centric. I can't say enough on how much that meant to me. Came to get glass inspected this morning and employee (white man mid 40s) tells me my glass is not tempered. I was 100% sure it was but I took his word and left. I visited a different shop and the owner who's been in the industry for over 25 years tells me it's 100% tempered glass and even proved it to me. I went back to the glass shop and told the employee that he was wrong and that the glass was in fact tempered. Because of him I failed my inspection, and on top of that he responds by saying "fuck off" and proceeding to shout curse words at me. Very unprofessional and if this business expects customers to return they should get rid of him. read more

I went in there to get help fixing my glass slider door that the handle was broken. The man who helped me told me they were very busy but they could do the work. I told him I didn't care what it cost that I needed the door fixed. A week later they finally got around to coming out to my house to look at the door. The guy who came was named Todd. Todd said he would have to locate the handle and order one. After not hearing back for a few days. Which I am actually glad I was able to find the part for 12 dollars from Lowes and fix it myself. read more

I drove my RV to The Glass Shop in Galt yesterday. I like to keep my business in Galt because I live locally. My RV has a glass shower door and one of the panels broke. This is a residential size shower so it's not cramped and the glass is a simple peice of flat tempered glass. It's not a hard thing, and I even have a link to the manufacturer so I can order hardware if needed. It's also a new RV so the current hardware is not worn out or in need of repair. The guy who did the estimate seemed a little bothered that he had to look at this and he immediately started telling me about all the things that could go wrong. He also told me before finishing the estimate that this simple job would take a couple of weeks to do. The employee looked at my shower then said he would get back to me the next day with an estimate. I got a call from this guy this afternoon. He turned the job down and did not give me a price. I guess a simple piece of flat tempered glass is too hard for them. If I had the piece of glass, I could easily replace it with a few simple hand tools and a tube of calking. I called a glass company in Lodi today, they were friendly and happy to help me. They said my job would be simple and reasonably priced. I'm not sure what the problem is with The Glass Shop in Galt but they don't want my business. I know this is a small job but it should be easy and if they had done a good job, I would have called them back when I had a bigger job for them to do. I won't be doing business with this company in the future. I see there was another reviewer who had a similar experience with this company. We bought 2 new Milgard patio doors to replace my old crappy ones. The staff at the Glass Shop was absolutely great through the entire process. They sent someone out to measure and Kevin provided an estimate in less than 2 days. We then went to the store where we were walked through the process of picking out our doors and hardware. Installation was outstanding. Our installers were Bruce and John and they were great. They arrived on time and got right to work installing the doors with total expertise and attention to detail. It's as if they were installing them in their own homes. And before leaving they made sure everything was clean. Somehow my review does not reflect the 5 Star rating with this store so here is another: This store installed double pane windows 2 and 4 yrs. ago. With all the recent rain some of the windows they installed were leaking all around. We removed the sheetrock only to find they WERE NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY! The GLASS SHOP in Galt caulked only on the outside / exterior of the window and did not caulk around the inside nor did they put any insulation around the inside of the window. Plus you could actually see daylight around the windows. I spoke with Todd who came out and who had the nerve to say the windows were installed correctly but would not come out a second time when it was raining so we could show him how bad it was (as though all the wet 2 x 4's and wet sheetrock were not enough). I was not living in the home and my electrician and his employees alerted me to this problem first. Then my father who is a retired contractor, then my neighbors who came into the home who are also retired, then my sheet rocker, the list goes on and on and Todd says they are trying to sell me something!!! My father is retired, my electrician only does electrical, my neighbors are retired ~ NO ONE RECOMMENED ME ANYTHING EXCEPT TO CALL THE GUY WHO PUT THEM IN AND HAVE THEM RE-DO THE WORK BECAUSE IT IS DEFECTIVE! So I did call the widow company who informed me that I LOST MY WARRANTY DUE TO FAULTY INSTALLMENT!!! BUYER BEWARE AND DON'T DEAL WITH THE GLASS SHOP IN GALT! read more

This store gets no stars from me....I went into their store when it opened in Thursday bringing in an item that was small to repair. I brought in a sample of the size glass that it needed to be in thickness to help them out. The man that helped me told me no problem it will take a couple days at most. I then asked him for a quote and it was right on target. I left them with my possession. I called them on Saturday thinking that ALL day Thursday and Friday would be sufficient time to finish cutting the glass that I needed. I was wrong! The man that answered the phone said that it they were behind and that it wouldn't be done till Monday at noon by best! I told him that I was explained to me that it would take a couple days at most. The man sounded like "it's not my problem". As a customer, when I am promised something and to when it would be done, I expect it to come thru. Now I'm left with an incomplete piece that had to be finished by the weekend. Thanks a lot Glass Shop!!!! (Insert sarcasm here) Needless to say, if you are needing glass work done and decide to take it to this shop, make sure that you aren't needing it at the time frame that they tell you...I would tack on 3 more days to a week. read more
