As a former employee, I wish I never left. I live to far away to make the commute every day, otherwise I would go back.

So much that my child spent 4 great years at Owlets and we all cried a bit when we moved out of state and had to leave. I can't say enough about the warm, family-like environment. Teachers and classmates became a second family for my child, and families were really encouraged to get to know each other through events and gatherings. It felt like Owlets was a support system even outside of school hours. We loved the balance between structure and free play and really felt like Little Owlets prepared my daughter very well socially and knowledge-wise for kindergarten - the transition to elementary school was a breeze. My child LOVED the Montessori-inspired activity time and still talks about it. And there were so many creative and fun activities - cooking, yoga....We loved that outdoor time was emphasized in all but the worst weather and the kids got in quality outside play and exercise time. Oh, and the food was so good - I found myself envious of my child's lunches.

That was the first thing on my list when I was searching for a childcare for my son. CHECK! I personally observed the providers and how they take care of my child and other children. Happy to put another CHECK right here! Aliya and Lola are very patient and nurturing. They have plenty of teaching materials and incorporate lessons into play every day. The 'Little Owlets" is my number one choice in the area! Oh, almost forgot - the food is all homemade and very delicious! I asked to try :)

Everyone is lovely and remembers my daughter by name even though she is only there 1-2 times a month. Ms. Seemab is especially lovely and always provides such nice feedback about what my daughter learned throughout the day and how she did. I love the daily emailed reports, which include tons of cute videos and pictures. I feel very comfortable and confident that she is in great hands while she's at Chesterbrook.

Shortly after we were warned by someone we met that it's not a good school, they were right. There are many families on grants and financial support (lower income),which we did not mind, though there is no system in place and the preschool lacks leadership and clear guidance from the director and corporate. Teachers don't seem to know when asked questions and do not make any decisions. Often, staff members were on their cell when I came to pickup. It is not Regio or Montessori teaching approach, and from what I've seen the teachers cut and glue the art projects, the children learn by repeating and being indoctrinated with information instead of exploring hands-on and being asked open-ended questions. We were not updated when there were issues that rose, and only found out after the fact that things were handled poorly and without any consent from the parents. This is our third child and I work in education, if you value your child's education and want them to thrive in a supportive, welcoming and communal environment, there are better options out there.

In fact, I never refer to it as "daycare" because this truly is a learning institution, even before your child is old enough to take their first step. Our now-four year old has attended PVA since she was one, and my goodness has she flourished. One of our big worries when our daughter was born was the fact that we are both working parents and someone else would essentially "raise" her during the day until we were able to pick her up. Our concerns melted away the first week of her care there, when we would arrive to a detailed written summary of how her day went, what she ate, how much of it she ate, how many times she went potty, what "type" of potty, etc. And on top of that, she was actually bringing home art "projects"! At age One! Now, at age four, the work the PVA staff puts in with her is obvious, as her manners, vocabulary, and deductive reasoning astounds us for a child her age. Marcia is a wonderful director and - while the staff does turn over now and again - those who leave always seem to be replaced with others who are just as caring, cheery, and committed to our child. I can't recommend PVA enough, and we will be sad when our daughter leaves to attend Kindergarten in 2017.
