We told the director that our child hadn't really been socialized before or in a structured school setting and was speech delayed and were assured that this would be fine and nothing to worry about. Even their website says: "Individual attention is paid to each student. Our teachers believe in giving each child personalized attention in a nurturing environment." We even asked at the start the likelihood of being kicked out to do our child's progress/developmental issues and were told that the only way he would get kicked out is if we as parents did something super unruly to warrant removal of our child. Fast forward about 6 months when they "invited him not to return" the next month with only 3 days heads up because he required "too much individual attention". Considering both parents have full time jobs, this was definitely a big frustration and very inconsiderate (not to mention super unfortunate considering the pocketed about half our deposit). I also found the teachers/admins weren't super communicative regarding the true status of our child. Had we known they were thinking of not allowing us to continue to take our child here, we could have made other arrangements or at least been not caught off guard. The teachers weren't super nice (I literally never smiles when we dropped him off). But that may have just been because my child was "too difficult." I also found the overall vibe somewhat unprofessional. The director/principal often solicited money for fundraisers for her child from parents of children at the school, which seems somewhat improper with the expectation that the person that holds power to keep your child in care is "asking" for help with her child's fundraiser. Overall, I really liked the concept of exercise, structured education, etc. I just think for someplace that made all these promises, they could have done a bit more to either follow through or set expectations to start. This is definitely a place that is all about the money.

They seem to be burnt out or just zero patience for a child who clearly can't swim. Our last experience the instructor yanked my child off the wall to forcibly make them dunk their head. When my child came out, the instructor quickly was blaming her for not wanting to participate towards the end of the class. Obviously, she just made her feel unsafe. I quickly told her she was in the wrong and should have moved on to another child. I did not witness them making it a fun experience at all. We switched schools immediately. To top it off, they don't care about your business the front desk was rude from the beginning.

She expects the children to excel, and she helps give them the confidence to rise to the occasion. All of the teachers are quick to identify student's strengths and areas for growth and have consistently communicated his learning plan to us via daily notes and parent teacher conferences. My son was recognizing his letters when he first started Kindergarten, and is now able to read level one chapter books at the end of the year. His verbal and written communication have improved exponentially as well, and despite his naturally shy demeanor, he is now confidently reciting poetry in front of classmates and parents. The curriculum is top notch as well and we love the diversity of subjects that the school teaches. The school staff is also fabulous. Miss Erica in the front office is always there to help with anything the parents or children need during the day. I always felt confident sending my child to school each day. Instead, the experience was so good they earned the right to keep our son one more year before heading off to Orchard. There were lots of little things I appreciated about his experience here: 1 - Healthy eating! Emily and her staff were consistent in their message that kids need healthy snacks and this fits well with my personal belief we are what we eat. My son came home asking for broccoli! 2 - Geography and pin poking - This is a Montessori activity that I didn't know anything about until his experience. My son completed a map of each continent, opening the door to talking about those areas of the world and what they do there, eat there, sing there, etc. We still have these maps up in our home and use them as a reference when talking about areas of the world. 3 - Reading and singing - Scott coming and playing Rudi music on Wednesdays was a highlight for my son. When he started there, my son wasn't sure about himself or going to school and Scott's music brought out my son's personality and helped give him confidence and joy for singing and learning all the new words, sounds and days that came with those songs. He really started his love of reading here, too, which I appreciate as an avid reader. 4 - Behavior growth - My son really thrived in a time where learning those social skills, learning how to manage your emotions, learning appropriate responses to others in those situations, etc. because of the guidance at this school. Recently they have been working with her class on expressing their emotions appropriately. My husband walked into her classroom the other week to find 6 one year olds silently sitting in chairs eating their snack! I don't know how they do it.
