Oh, wow, what a fantastic place to have coffee. Downstairs is a little market, and upstairs is an air conditioned lounge area as well as a rooftop space with tables. It was such a lovely way to spend my first couple of hours in Chicago. I had both of their special coffee drinks - the Dubai chocolate cold brew and the orange dreamsicle latte. Yum! Their baked goods looked so good; they have croissants and prepackaged items as well as more lunch type sandwiches. A very pleasant experience sitting outside and reading in a very cute little shopping area. Highly recommend.

Such small portions! I was surprised by how tiny my little breakfast burger was. Overall, I still enjoyed the food, but maybe include fries or breakfast potatoes next time? Maybe it's my fault for going on a weekend, but the wait time (almost 60 min) was far too long for the meal I got. -AT

The table is set and here we are having Goddess and the Grocer's delicious butternut squash apple soup.

For Thanksgiving, since it was just going to be the two of us, I decided that it was easier to order a pre-made dinner than to buy the ingredients and cook. I wanted something that came close to tasting homemade. I decided to order Goddess and Grocer's Thanksgiving for Two dinner, and I am glad that I did. It was wonderful. Pick-up was at a pre-determined time, and could not have been easier. They had a truck in front of the store, and they were very organized. The dinner included a huge portion of pre-sliced turkey breast (along with turkey stock to keep it moist while reheating) mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, rolls, whole cranberry sauce, gravy, and two mini pumpkin pies. I also ordered a quart of their delicious butternut squash apple soup. The reheating instructions were easy to follow, the portions were generous, and everything was absolutely delicious. I could not have purchased the ingredients and made this dinner for price they charged...so that was a big plus. I am a baker, and to go with the dinner, I made a homemade pumpkin pie with an all-butter crust. I have to admit that my pumpkin pie was better than their mini pies, but my homemade pies are tough to beat. I had never been in their Damon Avenue store, but it looked to be well-stocked and they have a wonderful counter for coffee and baked goods. If you need catered or pre-made food, I highly recommend Goddess and Grocer. It's wonderful!

I've been a couple of times and the coffee is a miss each time. Typically too hot and not prepared well. Today I watched the barista pull the shot and steam the milk for my drink then put them down and take some orders before finishing the drink. The baristas were also running around when I arrived so they might be understaffed here which is something that the should be changed if it is effecting service. There is a large space upstairs to work which is nice. The door to go outside seems to be a bit broken as a few people have gone in and out and weren't able to close the door all the way so as the weather gets colder it makes the space rather cold. There are also bathrooms upstairs and iced water. Overall if they had better coffee quality it would be a great place to stop in.

A cutesy convenient store / coffee shop that has a wide range of options for food and drinks. I came in to work for a bit while in the area and the drip coffee was tasty. The wifi is pretty good for standard usage. I didn't get to try anything else but i'd come back for more from the vibes, kind staff and coffee alone.

One of my favorite places in the city! I previously visited a Goddess and the Baker but didn't know what to expect for a Goddess and the Grocer. The first floor felt like a deli with one side full of prepared meals and fun drinks and the other side with a deli counter, salad bar, and a small section with baked goods. There was also a small menu (not the same at Goddess and the Baker) but still plenty of healthy and fun options! There was also an upstairs full of tables that worked great for remote work (we did have to ask to turn down the music a bit though). It was too cold when we visited but the outdoor patio looked cute and comfy too! I tried the breakfast quesadilla which was so good and very filling!

While working in the area for a month worth of time, I stopped at Goddess and the grocer at least once a week. Their breakfast sandwiches were surprisingly delicious so was their midday refreshing drinks!

Loved. Such a cute place. The food was great-- I had the avocado toast which was presented BEAUTIFULLY on gluten free bread. They had so many great options for different treats and grab and go. I'll definitely be back. The rooftop was also a very cool space.

Staff seems profoundly unhappy. Apathetic customer service. You truly feel like you are bothering them to even just exist.

Having worked in NYC and Jersey…read moreCity for years I am intimately acquainted with salad spots that cost the equivalent of college tuition and still leave you wanting. However, as I was a guest in his home and his wallet I was down to give it a try over the holidays when he suggested it. Based on my experience, I'm a believer - to a point. I started with the steak hot honey base and from there went HAM. Just my salad came in around $24. That's atrocious. However it was also delicious and packed to the brim with flavor and texture. I was pleasantly surprised. I think if I ordered as is I would have been disappointed - but being able to DIY was clutch. All that said, I FIRMLY reject the designation of places like Sweetgreen, Chipotle, and Cava as "slop bowls." In a time of rising economic and food insecurity, I actually find it incredibly disrespectful. Related but undeveloped thought - I also have issues with how items that contain "soft" ingredients like rice and beans - staples in countries with large populations of non white folks - get ridiculed as "slop." Is it the price that offends us? The preparation? Or the thought that who is eating it - (white) white collar workers - "deserve better?" We should unpack that at some point. -------- Overall Verdict: Yes. On someone else's dime.

I don't have a good answer, except to say this: wherever that line is, I felt as though Just Salad crossed it. All this, with a price point greater than 5lbs of 'actual' rabbit food. I'd ordered a Maple Crispy Chicken Salad. I feel deceived by the photo on the menu, for it felt as though it were mostly spinach and arugula, with everything else being as if an afterthought. The cheddar, almonds, cranberries, corn, and carrots were in amounts too small to offer a balance or contrast to the greens. Meanwhile, the amount of chicken was straight-up laughable. It felt like a little treasure hunt for a little protein! Now, drumroll please... A bowl of mostly greens and a meager amount of extras for right around $15 before tax... eep! Severely overpriced if you ask me. I will give them points for the ingredients being fresh, and not seeming like they'd been sitting out for too long. I'd also like to give a shoutout for the fast service, though to be fair I did stop in just before the lunch rush. With all of this, I would ordinarily award two stars. However, a month or so again had a Spicy Chicken Caesar Wrap, which didn't suffer from my qualms with the salad. This one was well balanced, and not simply greens in a tortilla. While also overpriced in my opinion, not as severely as the salad.
