I took the day off to go to Golden Dreidle and the kosher market around the corner so I could be stocked up for the holiday, and to my surprise, the store is shut down -- totally empty! I wish I had known this was going to happen. It's terribly depressing. I don't think we have a single Judaica store in OC now. I live in south OC, so I guess the nearest places for me now are up in Los Angeles. It looks like they are still selling things online. I was really looking forward to going into the store. I hope they are able to reopen a location at some point. read more

Shahrokh, one of the owners, was incredibly helpful, accommodating, and a joy to work with. I walked in searching for honey dishes for rosh hashanah, a challah tray (needed a replacement), and a challah cover. In LA, I'm used to dealing with pushy shop owners who follow me around trying to sell me everything, and it is quite off putting. Shahrokh was not pushy at all and helped me find what I needed at a reasonable price. Anyway, I ended up walking out with everything I needed and more :) this place is truly a gem, and I will definitely shop here again. read more

My wife and I found so many things that attracted us to buy or consider. I went there to purchase a Chai necklace and was able to find what I wanted for a price I could afford. My wife found a tallit and fell in love with it. It was truly affordable and desirable, so she bought it with joy. What a perfect find. We were on our way to my nephew's Bar Mitzva and needed a card. Our LA family is Jewish and know where to shop but our OC family is not so I had no idea where to find a card in town. We yelped and found this precious bookstore. The shopkeeper was lovely to us though we were clearly not Jewish. He was gracious and made the visit quite enjoyable. There were many books I was interested in and so many lovely gift ideas in the store. They had cute sayings, bowls, silver and many beautiful things at all price levels. This Judaic shop is truly golden. It is the best place in all of Orange County-- even in all of LA-- for your Judaic product needs, especially unique gifts for a Jewish a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Jewish wedding/ anniversary... you name it. This store is geared more towards the Reform/ Reconstructionist/ Conservative Jewish folks because of the "hip and modern" items that they sell. (This is not the right place for the Orthodox because they usually shop for very traditional and plain products.) The store owner is so helpful and friendly. He is happy to explain the purpose of a product that you may not know much about. If you cannot find exactly what you need (which is highly unlikely), he will go to great lengths to order it for you. I was very particular about a tallit, so he went through his thick catalog of tallitot with me. Wonderful man. This store is everything I had hoped it would be...and more. They have an amazing collection at a variety of price points. The staff is incredibly helpful without being pushy...which can happen a lot in smaller stores. I bought Rosh Hashanah books for my two boys and went another time to purchase a Kiddush Cup for my upcoming wedding. We are so happy with our purchase and my next purchase will be the Chabbat Meal Wooden Play-set for my boys. I love this place. Great little place in a small strip mall. The store had many very nice contemporary styled pieces. I came in and was greeted with ease, no pushy salesman. I said told the man behind the counter what I was looking for and why, he pointed me in the right direction and said "if you have any questions, I'm right here." That was all the selling he did! Fantastic! I'm used to people following you around and pushing items onto you so this was a breath of fresh air. I saw exactly what I was making sitting on the counter and the man reassured me that mine was going to better because it was made from the heart. The Golden Dreidle was incredibly helpful in helping me get some last minutes, but desperately needed items for my wedding. Three weeks before the big day, we decided to get a ketubah. Knowing nothing about them, we went to the Golden Dreidle with our fingers crossed. They were very kind and helpful. The selection was plentiful and they assisted us throughout the entire process. When last minute we needed help with the bases to our chuppa, they jumped in and provided us with the necessary bases at a very fair price. I would absolutely recommend this store. Pay attention very carefully, as this is my HORRIBLE experience with this "Little shop of Horrors". My fiancee and I went in and ordered our Ketubah and specifically asked if we needed to come back and purchase a "back-up" Ketubah, in case the UPS 2 day service they use, did not deliver on time. After being told a bunch of S!@# by the man ..."Oh no it will be there on time...." This is for you Sir: "NO, our Ketubah DID NOT COME IN! AGAIN, it DID NOT ARRIVE IN TIME FOR OUR WEDDING!"
