SB drinking areas are better than OC for sure. Loved this place and all the games that they had here. They also had a DJ and super sweet workers. I really enjoyed the scooby-doo shot! Great vibes and place :0

Unbearable was Stop #1 on a pub crawl, that was part of the business event I attended in Santa Barbara. Positives: Cool bartenders and good food; Unique līlīko'i margarita; Big place Negatives: No live music; I would return here to grab a drink and bar hop.

Came here around 6:30pm on a Tuesday night and it was empty. Hubby and I each ordered a drink and found it flavorful. We ordered the toast with Brie on the happy hour menu and while it was good, it didn't feel like each piece was worth $3. I would've preferred 2 slices for $5 as opposed to $3 per individual order. I dunno....just my mentality. I loved skee ball and it was only $0.25 per round of nine balls. We also had fun playing the arcade game. I know it gets packed later on in the night but it was lovely having the place to ourselves

Finding indoor spots to relax with your dog can be tough especially when traveling. While hiking and beach trips are fun, there is only so much our feet and paws can tolerate. That's why we love Unbearable. I visited on a weekend, when they open at 1 pm. It was quiet until 2 pm, allowing my dog and me to enjoy some quality time to play. We had a blast playing Connect 4 and Skeeball, and appreciate all their tasty drink options. We stayed until it got busy and a little too rowdy so I recommend coming early with your pups.

    Lots of people and games

Honestly, the games was what kept us here for an hour. We played ping pong and connect 4! The vibes were loud and chatty, it looked like a huge bridal party was taking over this spot. There was a huge puddle of water on the floor, and no caution sign or any attempts to clean it up. It was pretty packed with people and pretty loud. The games kept us entertained and in the competitive spirit. We did have to leave our leftovers outside as they don't allow outside food or drink. They also have other large games like jenga but those were being used. I like the decor and they're pet friendly!

If you're looking for a casual, laid back night - this is where it's at. They serve a selection from Wine Therapy down the street so that includes the famous Frosé (frozen blended rosé) and chambongs (champagne flute bong). Helps that they serve those items because Wine Therapy is a bit higher up on State so this is more convenient. They have a variety of spritz' which are very popular as well. I was taking a trip down memory lane visiting all my old stops with a friend while in town and it reminded me how much I loved it here during my college days. Young crowd and sweeter drinks forsure but could easily ask the bartender to adjust the sweetness of the spritz which I'd recommend. I love the Halle Berry or the Drew Barrymore (also can we appreciate the naming!) I love the Meryl Streep or the Drew Barrymore (also can we appreciate the naming!) The space here is what makes it and a good way to come in large or small groups with tons of seating*when not busy. Lots of board games in addition to arcade games from pinball, pool, ring toss, and skee ball +. There's a photobooth as well but it ate our $5 and that sucked... If I was in SB again, I'd just come here for the champagne bongs as a quick pit stop before going out and after grabbing opting for other cocktails down the street.

Perfect place to chill, hang out and rest for a bit while spending the day in downtown. Plenty of sitting spaces. Surprisingly not busy at all on a Saturday afternoon. Drinks are great. Didnt get to try their food, but they seem tasty! Fun place with skeeball, table tennis, and jenga available!

I've been a handful of times and so far all my experiences have been great. I've been on quiet days with my dog and busy Friday nights with a local kickball league. It's a great environment with quality food and drinks and management is nothing short of great.

Lavender Frosee. 2/5. Tastes like iced wine. IG: @amei.eats
    Alex M.

(Overall: 68% | D) - The unfortunate irony here is that consuming this frosee was unfortunately unbearable. The drink tasted like if you poured red wine on top of ice. None of the fruity or lavender flavor came through in the slush, making this very dreadful to consume. While the bar was a bit loud, there is some interesting activities and the service is reasonable. Unfortunately, this drink was not bussing.

The cocktails are highly creative, diverse in flavor and design, and really could stand up to any you would find at a top cocktail bar in a major city. The exterior doesn't scream "must come in" but you absolutely should. Is it a tiki bar? Yes, but in the best way. And the bartender deserves applause for pulling off 3+ quite complex cocktails every 5 minutes off of memory and without any support.

In a stretch of Lower State packed with breweries, wine bars, and roaming weekend energy-drink humans in vintage bowling shirts, it threads the needle nicely between cocktail bar and tropical escape pod. The menu leans tiki-adjacent rather than deep-cut exotica, but the drinks are smartly built and avoid the "every problem can be solved with more rum" philosophy. There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. The Jungle Bird was also great, though presented more in the direction of a Negroni than the punchier tropical versions you usually see. Bitter, restrained, and easy to settle into. Crowd-wise, things tilted a little frat-floaty as the night rolled on, but the staff handled everything smoothly and kept the vibe from turning into full pirate mutiny. Service stayed friendly and composed even when the volume of the room started climbing like a malfunctioning theremin. Big bonus points for the location and outdoor seating. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. Grab a drink, people-watch, drift between breweries and wine spots, repeat as necessary.

When we arrived on a Tuesday evening, there were about seven patrons throughout the bar and the outdoor seating area with the live music drew us in. We were told to order at the bar, so while the rest of our party was seated, I stood there for five minutes before someone took my order. Totally fine, but no sorry for the wait or even smile or any warmth from the male bartender, who disappeared for a five minute break shortly after taking my order. The tables at the outdoor seating area were very sticky and since there were no employees in sight I (and the other patrons who arrived then) cleaned the tables ourselves. After waiting 10 minutes I went up to the bar and assumed since our drinks hadn't been delivered, I was supposed to pick them up, I was told don't worry, we'll bring them to you, and after another five minutes, our drinks arrived. The cocktails were decent, nothing revolutionary but I am spoiled in this department, well made but nothing to get excited about . After 30 minutes of enjoying the genuinely nice outdoor area we ordered another round, three shots took another 10+ minutes. When we realized we had to leave to make our reservation, we asked for a box for our untouched food, and we were told we don't have boxes. They ended up finding one for For us, but it appeared to be a pastry box from somewhere else. The female bartender who took over after the male clocked out, was much more personable, but not much more efficient. To their credit, this bar has an excellent selection of tequilas and Mezcal's, so if you're not in a rush and you enjoy those spirits it's definitely worth stopping by. The music was really great and was definitely the highlight of that bar.

Pearl social is such a whimsical fun spot to grab a drink and a snack in the funk zone. We stumbled in for a late afternoon drink and it wasn't very busy inside - giving off "best kept secret vibe". The decor is very feminine yet playful. Loved the design and bar area. We opted for a casual booth area by the bar which was really nice. Also all of the little things were done well, crisp menus, clean bathrooms, and music done at just the right sound level. Their menu in the bar area for food is small but mighty - oysters, cheese plates, you name it. I'm definitely going to keep coming here for the cocktails. I've had one of the best sips in 2025 here - which would be The Mixtape cocktail. My friend told me I had to get it and I'm so glad I listen sometimes lol. This cocktail completely blew me away. Passionfruit forward, it's silky, sweet yet very well balanced. One of the more unique and tasty cocktails I've had ever and honestly I'm not sure how I could come back and get anything else. 10/10 Cocktail and menu. Super impressed. Kudos to Mark who was working the bar. Such a lovely spirit and kind person. He really is passionate about his menu and the drinks he's curated. The patio is in the back of Cutler's that can be entered around the corner (map on the front door of Cutler's shows the directions). The patio is next to other tasting room patios featuring wine and next door to Lark's restaurant. When we visited the tasting room at about 3pm in the afternoon, we were the only individuals there but started to fill up with other small groups. When a large group entered, the waitress said you will need a reservation as she was only wait staff there. Perhaps a sign is needed to notify people, that groups need reservations. The drinks were spot on- the drinks started at 14 dollars to about 16 dollars for cocktails. The tasting room also offers tastings of their products too. The tastings looked small. The cocktails were well poured. I was just disappointed to find out that I could not get a Bloody Mary on a Saturday- only Sundays- the Bloody Mary looked really good. The crispy tuna nigiri was my favorite appetizer. Super fresh with perfectly crispy rice. We also loved the firecracker rock shrimp, which was light and crispy without being oily. We were the first table seated there, but the rest of the tables filled up quickly. The cocktail menu was great. I ordered a paper plane and my husband ordered a cabrillo, which was a smoky mescal drink. Peter, our server, was fantastic. Friendly and very helpful - I wanted sashimi, but didn't want 5 pieces each of the same fish. Peter suggested we order from the nigiri menu which is 2 pieces each, and make it sashimi style (no rice). This was a great option for us to sample 3 different types of fish (although a bit pricey imo - $16 toro, $10 yellow tail, $10 salmon). We also ordered the blistered shishito peppers ($11) but were surprised not to get a single spicy pepper. For rolls, we had the piranha ($20, my favorite) and Everybody Loves Raymond ($22). It was the perfect amount of food for us. No room for dessert. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience at Oku. I thought the price point was a bit high compared to places we frequent in the San Francisco Bay Area, but it was our first time in Santa Barbara so this may be typical.
