They are a cashless business and I personally don't agree with the cashless society push (this had nothing to do with my review but if I saw this earlier I would have left). Located in the heart of Norfolk near the waterfront and Town Point Park area. The place is pretty big with plenty of seating. The staff were very nice and accommodating. They made my sandwich and salad very fast. I had the club sandwich and a green salad which was good but nothing special. The sandwich had minimal amount of meat and wasn't something local that people crave or say, " you have to try this place". The drink machine was broken but they had a refrigerator with a good combination of drinks available. I always get the chicken Ceasar salad with fruit. It is the biggest salad I've ever seen. Often times, I can only eat 1/3 of it because of its size. If you're anything like me and love Ceasar dressing-- ask. For. More. It comes with 2 but because of its size, you will need more. My teammate grabbed their teriyaki chicken wrap with no pineapple salsa, add provolone and bacon. She had one word to say about this wrap--SLAMMING! My other teammate (a super picky eater) ordered the traditional chicken salad sandwich. She said when she took one bite to try it she was pleasantly surprised! I've been a fan for many years of gourmet gang and it's still one of my top five favorite lunch places to go in the Hampton roads. Our office had a meeting today and allowed us to pick our choice of this yummy goodness and just as I remembered this was still just as good as I remembered. I ordered the Chicken Caesar salad with added chopped egg added and also ordered the peach tea which was also delicious. If you've never experienced the lunch here I strongly recommend trying it here. I've eaten here numerous times at multiple locations and I've never had a meal I did not like here and I've tried several different selections from wraps, sandwiches, salads, pasta & cookies. So I work for a business near by and we order gourmet gang weekly or every other week. We have noticed small things like wrong dressing or item not how we requested it and over looked the problem. One of our providers purchased lunch for his staff. We spent 286.00 for the order to be messed up. We paid for a pound of pasta we never received. We purchase 3 Mozzeralla sandwiches one changed the bread to a wrap they made all 3 on wraps. No labeling on salads, same salad different white dressings. A lady ordered a Teriyaki wrap and labeled Teriyaki and it was a shrimp wrap. I saved my order for when I got home that night and found out I had the Teriyaki chicken wrap and she apparently had my shrimp wrap but the labels were incorrect on order. You messed up the birthday girl sandwich which was a horrible lunch for her and some staff. Like I said in the past we overlooked small things. Oh this happen two days ago and have yet to receive a call after leaving 3 messages within the last two days. I have talked to the providers and staff yesterday to let them know that we have yet to receive a call back. So we will be looking for a new place to eat for lunch. Very bad business. read more

We had a corporate event, ordering 100 boxed lunches. They offer a good variety of choices. Their quality is above average from my experience of ordering from other specialty places. They were 10 minutes late which doesn't seem like a big difference but it can be. However, because of how efficient the driver was and the lunches were all easily identified, we still made it in time before lunch was made available to the employees. Being that it's downtown, the parking can be tricky finding a spot that's nearby the restaurant. The customer service and employees are great! They were very welcoming and all seemed to be in a great mood. They even wrap your food for you, which is a plus. I ordered the tequila shrimp lime wrap which I've had 2-3 times before. It wasn't as great as the last time I had it, but still good and the shrimp were plentiful. Unless it's no longer an option, you can chose your choice of wrap (plain, spinach, etc.) but the cashier didn't mention it & I wish she had asked. To me, is pricey for "just" a sandwich/wrap and the hours are a little odd, but I still enjoy eating here. My total was $12 for a wrap, chips, and water cup. The chips are on the higher scale of chips so I guess that's where some of the pricing comes from too. read more

I just started working in downtown Norfolk and this spot is right across from the office so of course I'm going to give this place a shot! Location: convenient walk if you work anywhere downtown but I will say it's not worth having to find a street park. Service: it's a sandwich shop so once you order it's pretty much self service. The person taking my order was nice but there wasn't any WOW factor. Very transactional which is to be expected since this is a lunch spot Meal: i ordered the club sandwich on French bread. I subbed the horseradish mayo for regular and i also added banana pepper and onions. (I'm a huge sandwich fan so my expectations may be higher than The average consumer) the sandwich was really yummy and i will definitely be back BUT this is something I can get at any sandwich spot and could have made at home. I think they need a broader variety of bread Will i come back ? Yes but only because of the convenience of a quick bite right across from the office not because of the quality. This place is literally 111 footsteps from the front entrance of my work building. It's right on Main St next to Subway across from the new Icon apartment buildings. This place is LIT during lunch, from 11:30 til about 1PM. They have so many customers either eating in, picking up and they also do delivery! With that said, the wait time can be long so try to come during non peak times. I've gotten food from here a few times now and I have enjoyed my meal on all occasions. The amount of food they give is very plentiful. Recently, I got their smoked gouda and spinach blend sandwich which is: turkey, ham, caramelized onions, mayo on sirato bread. The sandwich comes warm and is prepared with precision. They pile on the ingredients which I like but sometimes it is too much and can be hard to eat. The sandwich was tasty and very filling. On their menu, they also have a vast selection of salads, and sandwiches and of which is customizable. With chips and a fountain drink my lunch came out to about $11 which I think is a good deal. I think the rain kept some of the crowd away this time, though, so my coworker and I decided to stop in. She had the chicken salad which she's had before and knows she enjoys. This time was no different. It was my first visit and I had the Italian sandwich with potato salad. The potato salad was good and had a nice touch of dill. Good lunch spot! Went in on a Wednesday I was surprised by how busy this place was it was the first time I had heard of it at this location. It's in a nice spot plenty of seating even with the crowd that was there before me. I was a little concerned about time and getting back to work, but everything rand like clockwork. It's a great place to eat if you are out alone for lunch because you can sit at the bar and stare out at the people by on the sidewalk. The catering is by far what shines. Almost every office orders catered lunches for meetings from Gourmet Gang. They deliver catered orders and their reliable. You can order sandwich/cookie trays or individual box lunches. Stopped by for a soup for to-go. It took more than 10 minutes to just get a heated bowl of soup. When I asked for a status of the order (around 10 mins later I placed a order) all I got was an eye-roll and a repeated comment saying it takes 4-5 mins to heat up the soup. Normally I love them the food is good and service is good. Oh today I ordered and was given a delivery time of 1:15 pm. That time came and went. Sent someone to check they were told there was no order for my name. Went myself and was told oh it was delivered it was not at all. They talked back and forth and finally said okay we will remake it stating they didn't know where their guy was. I only get 30 min for lunch and I wasted 28 min waiting for them to remake it! Gourmet Gang was one of my absolute favorite "go to" lunch spots during the week for a very long time...however over the past few months the order and delivery process has gone dramatically downhill and I'm starting to think it's not a "fluke" situation as it has happened 3x this week...and this will be the last time I visit the restaurant - although the staff is very friendly (especially the woman with the long brown curly hair) and always willing to fix the mistake quickly, it's just becoming to frequent for my return business. Here is an example: I met a long time friend for lunch yesterday I ordered the tempeh and avocado on multigrain he ordered the turkey sandwich on multigrain. I was delivered a turkey bacon cheese on white bread he was delivered turkey on white - the staff apologized for the mistake (understandably a simple mix up their lunch hours are slammed) and brought us our corrected orders freshly made and offered us free meal vouchers as a courtesy. I returned today to give the tempeh and avocado on multigrain another whirl - I got back to my office and the avocado that was on my sandwich was not ripe and literally like biting into a raw carrot. I called the manager explained what was going on she said she would have another one ready for me to pick it up....I went in to get it she had it nicely packaged to go for me....by this time my stomachs growling and I'm ready to eat and BAM - it's on white bread. Sorry Gourmet Gang, as much as I love your vegetarian and vegan options I don't have time to keep trotting back and forth across main street to correct wrong orders. My feedback is to work on attention to detail - customers appreciate fast and speedy service but a fast lunch puts a bad taste in your mouth when it is never the correct order.
