I have tried to be patient and understanding but two subsequent underestimations of what it would take to complete a job means I will never use Grass Outlet again. Why send an invoice if after doing half the job, you charge the customer for another pallette? Instead of fixing the mistake, Grass outlet charged me for their error even though they admitted it was their error. Buyer beware: . The invoice is only 2/3 of what it will cost. Grass Outlet went above and beyond my expectations. They came bus for an estimate on our rental property without me even being there and took measurements. They were prompt and communicated with me prior to and on the day of the estimate as well as the morning of installation. Mike was very professional pleasant and his crew was very fast. After my neighbor had grass delivered and was so successful, I asked who he had gottem his from. We had some serious issues with prior grass installations and were sure that the last batch included some sort of blight. The drought, questionable grass and lord knows what else had left us with a dirt yard. We had Zoysia delivered this weekend that looked really nice, considering the drive it made. We ordered a bit too much, but were able to use it all. We did get some new ants in the grass but I put that grass over the ants we found when digging so they can fight it out. Otherwise, hoping this new grass will take, thrive and look as good in a few weeks as it does today. I don't see any issues with the grass that was delivered, so if it doesn't take it might be me :) read more

I am writing this review primarily because I found it so difficult to find useful reviews when I was looking to order sod. A few years ago we laid sod and had an awful experience - the sod obviously hadn't been cut with the past 24 hours, was cut in various shapes and sizes, and was riddled with weeds (including nut sedge which we never were able to completely eradicate). So, I wanted to be especially careful about ordering sod this time. The Grass Outlet had useful reviews. I wanted a quality product; customer service was secondary. We ordered 8 pallets of sod. Delivery was late morning and it was obvious the sod had been cut the evening before. There were few weeds and only one pallet was inconsistent in quality with the other 7. Pieces were regular in shape. My only "dissatisfaction" was that I was told that if I called the afternoon prior to delivery I could be provided with an estimate of delivery time (e.g. whether I was first or last on the schedule). I placed several calls and left a message the afternoon prior to and the morning of delivery and never received a return call. I happened to be last on the delivery schedule and this would have been helpful to know as I hired day laborers to assist me in laying the sod. Overall - a quality product, dependable service. We just laid two pallets of Zoysia from the Grass Outlet, and the only reason I'm holding a star back is due to the 10 or so fire ant nests I had to spray for before laying some of the grass. The first piece I picked up earned me 7-8 bites on my hands before I knew to watch out for them. After reaching out to several local sod providers, I cam across The Grass Outlet during my Internet searches. I can't believe how amazing the whole experience was. After speaking with the Grass Outlet and placing our order we were hit with rain. The Grass Outlet called me a couple days in advance to let me know that our delivery would be delayed. This was completely understandable and because of the notice GO gave I was able to easily reschedule the installation crew. The price and the quality of the grass was awesome as well. The grass arrived green and has been growing very well since it was installed. I also could not get over how much cheaper GO was over the local stores!!! I had 7 pallets of Zeon Zoysia installed a month ago by the Grass Outlet, and am very happy with the results. The grass has greened and taken off (except a couple of spots where my sprinkler doesn't reach well). Mikel Piwonka was a pleasure to work with and did an excellent job with the install. This place doesn't ask for any money upfront which is not usual. Mikel seemed concerned about making me happy, and came back over a week later and rolled my grass so that it was flat. I could not be more pleased with the product I received or the customer service. There were quite a few delays in delivery due to all of the rain but I was updated every few days by Kelsey and never felt put out by something that was beyond the company's control. Kelsey was always in contact with me and very apologetic about the date getting pushed...it's sad to say that a consumer doesn't receive that kind of treatment very often anymore. We were finally able to work out delivery and I was pleasantly surprised when my grass was unloaded this morning. The driver was very pleasant, the pallets were huge and the sod looked beautiful! I've ordered a lot of sod and was expecting the typical...the first few rows of the pallet look OK but as you get further down the grass is dead and every square is dry and falling apart. Not from The Grass Outlet...every piece looked as good as the ones on top, was still moist and didn't fall apart when you pulled it off. The next time I order I know who I'm calling. I researched grass on the Grass Outlet web site as well as some other sources. Their material was as helpful as any I found and, so far, it turned out to be accurate. The palette of zoysia pallisades I bought arrived in the time frame promised. It looked a little dry and faded but after planting it and giving it plenty of water the first few days, the grass flourished and is doing fine today, two months later. The grass is healthy with minimal weeds. I never saw ants or other critters in the sod. Everything worked well: from my initial contact to them to the installation. I was in need of some of the Texas Native ST. Augustine so I called and spoke with Kelsey. She had stated that I was able to pick up a half pallet the next day. I wake up early. Go rent a truck to haul this sod and spend well over $100 on the rental. I pull in and It's a ghost town. I walk in and there was a gentleman(didn't catch his name) sitting in the office and I told him the situation and he proceeds to say that he's not sure why Kelsey had told me that we could get a half pallet since they didn't get a load in. I asked if they could deliver the half pallet of sod to my house and I was told they can only deliver a pallet or more. I asked if there's any other means to delivering sod when it arrives and I was given a business card for some random person to come deliver it. When asked the question of pricing, it was a whole lot of "I don't knows". Long story short, I called and spoke to Kelsey who told me false information, spent over $100 on a rental based on her information so I could pick up sod, when I arrive I was greeted by someone who wasn't wanting to try and make the situation a little less frustrating by potentially offering free delivery for the inconvenience caused by the company itself, and lastly I was referred to the grass patch in Leander by the same guy. These guys were great, right up until the grass got delivered and they had my money. I bought a full back yard of new zoysia grass, plus some for a rent house one street over; and a small strip by our mail box. I also bought some St. Augustine. I followed their instructions for the zoysia TO THE LETTER! I watered exactly right, fed exactly right; and did everything they told me to do. All of the zoysia died; in all three locations. That was bad. What was worse is that they refused to listen to our problems, refused to give us any further guidance on what to do; and OF COURSE, they refused to replace the grass with non-diseased grass. I didn't want my money back, just for them to deliver healthy grass; but they refused. I would not recommend them to anyone for anything. read more

After much online research including reading reviews on yelp, I decided to purchase ten pallets of grass for a backyard project from The Grass Outlet. The grass I had decided upon (Zeon Zoysia) was not listed as available when I typed in my zip code on their website. I decided to call to inquire about it's availability. Sarah answered the phone an couldn't have been more helpful. It turned out there was enough uncut grass left for my project. I needed to verify the exact amount needed with my landscaper so I didn't place the order at that moment. The next morning I called back and once again Sarah answered the phone. She immediately recall our conversation but, I could tell in the tone of her voice something was wrong. Someone had just called not 30 minutes earlier to purchase the last of the Zeon Zoysia. I was sad but understood money talks. Well, not one minute after hanging up the phone Sarah called me back. She'd inquired again and discovered they had just enough left for my project after all. I was so happy. The price per pallet and delivery were the best I've found. The grass showed up at the exact time and of the quality they promised. I and my landscaper were very pleased. I think they cater more to bigger orders and not smaller ones. Our grass was delayed by almost 6 weeks with the excuse of rain. After I canceled with them and ordered from another company, they were able to deliver and install the grass within two days. We had 6 pallets of sod delivered and planted on May 29th. I was very disappointed with the quality because it contained a large amount of weeds. As a matter of fact, many of the sod squares were nothing but weed. I gave it a week and then called Mike to express my dissatisfaction. He asked me to send him pics and he would contact the farm and get back to me. After no response from him i followed up with an email. In his response he asked me to treat my yard with a Weed &n Feed and told me he would issue credit to help out. I didn't feel i i was responsible for treating sod the website advertised as quality product and not to mention great customer service.Once again I attempted to contact him via email. He finally responded on June 21st and stated he would show up in the next week to treat my yard. It is now the second week in July and no follow through, no credit. read more

I ordered seven pallets of sod from Grass Outlet a couple months back. Kind of a mixed experience for me. About 10% of the sod showed up in a yellowed, dead-looking state. Having re-sodded yards for several houses in the past, I kind of took it in stride. A lot of the time, the sod is in a "shocked" condition from the cutting/moving experience, and doesn't flourish and turn green until it's firmly rooted into the soil of your yard, which could take weeks. In this particular case, though, the sod that was yellow pretty much stayed yellow, then brown, then dead. The sod that showed up green stayed green and has since grown quite well, and even filled in and grown over some of the dead areas. The ground was prepped properly and the sod was laid properly by a professional landscaping company, and all necessary watering was performed. Still, many of the dead spots remain visible, and will likely eventually need to be re-sodded with new pieces. All that aside, the sod delivery was prompt and on time, and Grass Outlet had the most competitive prices around. The grass that showed up healthy has grown very well, and for the most part I'm satisfied with my new yard. read more

The first thing I'd like to say is, in my opinion five stars is an understatement! My wife and I began this project with enthusiasm but very little experience. After researching on my own for a while and finding so many conflicting descriptions of the different types of sod that seemed to fit our needs, I decided to pick up the phone and get the opinion of someone locally and pick their brain for what they thought would work best for this area and for what we had in mind as far as cosmetically and economically. After a few calls to other local sod companies I contacted The Grass Outlet. My first conversation with Danny in the office came as a complete relief as I was starting to second guess our decision to re-sod and was becoming very frustrated at that point to say the least. That changed quickly after our conversation. Danny was extremely knowledgable, informative, and in my case very patient. I only wish I had called TGO first. After a 20 min conversation all my questions were answered in detail and my feelings of doubt and frustration quickly disappeared. I described the conditions of our yard (dense shade, full sun, water restrictions, ect...) and I was promptly given several options that would suit our needs both economically and cosmetically. The prices were better than anyone else in town and there's absolutely no way the quality or freshness could've been better. So what felt like an extremely overwhelming, and expensive endeavor became a smooth, painless and pleasurable experience. I've called several times since for advice on maintenance and they are always attentive, professional, and happy to help. FYI... The Grass Outlet website can answer most questions you might have and is the most informative and user friendly I've run across thus far... It's been about 6 weeks since our grass was installed and after following the watering, and maintenance instructions the best we could, our grass is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! We had just installed a pool and needed to change the area around it from a construction site to a backyard. Working with the Grass Outlet was probably the easiest part of the entire project. They showed up on time, got the job done on quickly and at a great price by comparison to other sod resources. It has been a few months since the grass was installed, and despite record breaking heat and drought with water restrictions the grass is surviving and looking as good as can be expected in this dust bowl. This company doesn't care that their diesel truck holding the pallets of grass has been idling for hours in our neighborhood. They asked me to request that the driver turn off his engine. The young driver refused, and the office told me that we need to consider the comfort of the driver, and it has been in the 70's-low 80's this morning. Mike and his install team did such a great job, especially since he squeezed the installation in between major rain events knowing that it could be a small window of opportunity. I had 9 pallets of Zoysia Cavalier installed. Mike communicated with me the day before to ensure everything was properly coordinated, then did exactly what he said he was going to do, in spite of the turbulent weather. I should also note that the truckdriver delivered the grass at the tail end of a pretty good thunderstorm and was very professional and patient with the not so ideal access conditions. Danny, who was my initial contact in the office and who I ordered from, was also very responsive and informative about different grass species and that helped my decision.
