Top Choice Lawn Care gave us some great ideas for the front bed in an area in front of our house that gets not much sun, but a lot of heat! The plants we had there previously wilted really quickly, and we had a hard time keeping the right amount of moisture. Top Choice presented us with a few different plant options: some we knew about, some we had not considered planting there. We went with agapanthus, and when Top Choice came to do the work, the plants they brought were beautiful. They worked hard to clean the area and were very respectful with us and the rest of the property. The agapanthus plants they brought were so beautiful - really well cared for before they got to us! Top Choice added some hardwood mulch as well and made sure the rain gutter nearby would disperse future gully washers away. The men were friendly and respectful, and thorough about the job, and careful to make everything tidy before they left. They really do care about making you happy with everything they put their hand to. The folks in the office also checked in during the work to let me know folks should be there working and to ask if there were any problems or questions. Service from Top Choice, really is excellent. It's been a week or so now, and the agapanthus has held up really well partly because Top Choice recommended we water regularly, and partly because of the mulch they recommended laying down. I want to compliment Top Choice for their initiatives during to most recent ice damage to a gazillion trees in Austin. While limbs were still falling they reached out to their customers to offer damage clean up. Climbing trees is not their thing and they made that clear. Their offer was to get downed limbs off your car, out of your driveway,etc. and to take down broken branches that they could reach with ladders and haul it off. Just the type of cleanup I needed. I contacted them through their website and signed up. They asked for pictures so they could prioritize and It took a few days to get to me as they were working the job sites with serious safety issues ( full disclosure..I forgot to send pictures) Just as I was getting a little antsy, they sent the most remarkable text message with full explanation about what they had been doing (including pictures) and why it was taking longer to get to everyone than they wanted (long lines at drop off point for example). They promised to work through the weekend to get to as many as they could. They let me know on Saturday that they would be at my place Sunday. They came, they used chain saws, they took down broken limbs, working as high as they could with ladders, they cleaned up and moved on to the next job site. We conducted a thorough review of landscaping services having exceptional ratings in sod installation. We narrowed the selection process to five then had each walk our yard, offer suggestions and submit quotes. Of the five we met only the Top Choice estimator provided ideas that we had not considered. He was not selling he was consulting so as to determine the optimal solution for our yard. His use of photographs of our "lawn" allowed us to clearly see the areas designated for sod, river rock and a few spaces not requiring attention. Of the five semi finalists only Top Choice provided a line by line break out of costs While not the lowest nor highest bidder we elected Top Choice. Communication was such that there were "no surprises" nor confusion. The Top Choice teams arrived at our home precisely on time. The crew leaders, Gilberto and Chuy, walked our yard with me using printed versions of the pictures the estimator and I drafted. The best measure of a leader is what his/her followers do. Gilberto's and Chuy's crews worked as one tackling the process with vigor and professionalism. These men clearly enjoyed what they were doing, executing each step with precision and care. We have had homes in cities from coast to coast as we were transferred with work. We have used and loved Top Choice for about 3 years now and they are awesome!! When we moved into our house, we had no idea the amount of work the landscaping would require and chose to have professionals take care of that for us. Price wise they were more expensive than some other companies I found, but their reviews were stellar and I read some horror stories of people whose lawn companies made their lives more stressful, not less. We chose to go with them, and it has been totally worth it! We recently decided to start doing the regular lawn/leaf maintenance ourselves again just to reduce our living costs, but wow do we miss them! We just had them out again to do a bunch of tasks before selling our home and they did a great job as always. They proactively noticed that we had a leaking water valve, so we just had Gary, their irrigation specialist out today to address that as well and he did a great job. It is hard to find great service sometimes, so it is very nice to find those few companies that really shine! They definitely know what they are doing, and do it very well. Had some zones on my sprinkler system that weren't firing and the repairs needed were quickly determined to be beyond my capabilities. I contacted Top Choice Lawn Care because I saw that they had a licensed irrigation profession. My call was answered right away when I inquired about their services. They had someone out the next day which was impressive given that we are going into the spring season when everyone begins to focus on their yards. Gary, their licensed irrigation specialist, showed up and texted me when he arrived which I appreciated given the current social distancing measures we are all taking. Within a half hour he had diagnosed the problem and texted me the status. He was very descriptive and thorough in his description of pricing and repairs. Derrick, the irrigation expert, was super professional, on time, and took the time to analyze all possible issues we could be having that was causing a wet section in our backyard. He spent the extra time to walk us through different options, answered all our questions, and spent extra time to walk us through our sprinkler schedules, throwing in additional information and tips to be aware of as the seasons change. Definitely a wealth of knowledge and so attentive. Because of him we are going to go with Top Choice Lawn for weed removal services as well. Additionally, the individuals I have connected with over the phone (I want to say their names were Tom & Gary) were also timely, helpful, and followed the timelines they set for their services. Top Choice Lawn Care has been great to work with, specifically Gary. He has fixed our irrigation system for two different issues. The first fix was due to a different irrigation company having violated the law by putting irrigation in our septic field. Gary explained everything that needed to be done and corrected their mistake. Then we had damage from the ice storm in our back flow preventer (again installed by a different company). I was out of the house after the storm and Gary came to check it free of charge so that they could order the parts for a repair. He said it was likely damaged because it wasn't buried deep enough and didn't have heat tape. As soon as the parts arrived, he installed the new one, made sure to winterize it, get a protective bag, and thoroughly checked that the rest of our irrigation system was working. I have been very pleased with the service--Gary is very friendly and good at his job. read more

Fortunately, this was installed by a business that when faced with a judgement as sum of its parts, it deservedly caved to an ignominious ending into the annals of bankruptcy, many years ago. Enter Gary Mizell, the venerable king of Austin irrigation: It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who wrote, "An institution is a lengthy shadow of one man." And so it was with the Top Choice Lawn Care irrigation division, the vision of one Gary Mizell, the genius irrigation specialist who resurrected the Lazarus corpse of my sprinkler system this week. I just had a major project completed with Top Choice and it was simply perfect. The job was just under $5,000 and involved re-sodding a good portion of my grass, adding some beds and planting new perennial flowers and plants. From the first contact (Gary) to my meeting with the estimator (Andrew) and the crew (Lazer was the lead person) it was totally professional. Everyone did what they said and followed through on any promises made to "get back to me" on an issue. The job was completed when they said it would be and the price was exactly as agreed. Gary even called after the job asking if I was happy and said "if you see something, no matter how small, I want to know about it." After the ice storm of early 2023 in Centra Texas, I reached out to Top Choice Lawn Care to see if they could assist me. I expected to have to wait many weeks before they could schedule me. Instead their representative came out to my property in a few days, and afterwards spoke to me on the telephone about a couple of service options. I chose the option that best suited my needs, they scheduled the service within a week. The crew arrived on time, were friendly and professional, and did an excellent job. My oak trees were properly trimmed and sealed, and the debris was all removed and the yard was blown clean. When the crew left, you could not tell I had any damage at all. Top Choice has serviced our lawns in three homes in Southwest Austin. They always come on the days expected and have done make up days when weather prevented scheduled service. They have also serviced our sprinkler systems, trimmed trees, mulched beds and weeded. The workers are fast, dependable and courteous. We've hired Top Choice for two landscaping jobs and were very impressed with the designs offered and then tweeked to our satisfaction. These jobs were accomplished promptly. We appreciate the emails reminding us of seasonal upgrades, when to trim trees and fertilize. We've had Top Choice hang and take down our Christmas lights for the past several years. Responsive in a crisis. Had a ton of green debris for removal after the storm. Crew was thoughtful and courteous. The foreman Rogelio is awesome and even blew off my driveway so I could park my car again. Thank you, Top Choice! After the first few branches fell over night Tuesday I knew this ice storm was going to take out many of my trees. I have relied on Top Choice in the past and gave them a call early Wednesday and left a voicemail. I figured I would here from them after the world defrosted. Nope. 20 minutes later they called and after a brief 3 minutes had me on the list once they could get crews out. Friday morning I got the email they were coming.
