Do not buy anything from this company... read many reviews before you do. I ordered a liner from Amazon in 2021 the slip at the seams this winter resulting in complete demolition of my pool. I ordered a spa that will not fit in my space and when I tried to cancel the salesperson blamed me for not knowing I needed a 2 foot clearance from the wall. They are fighting me on the return, she can't do anything and (of course) the manager is not available. They also said my spa would come in a few weeks when I placed the order and then when I called a few days later they told me it was 5-6 weeks (at which point I will have left the area). They will say anything to make a sale and then blame you for information they should have known. read more

I purchased a Four Wind Grand Bahama Spa hot tub for $8,538.93 from this company in April of 2021 and all the head rests which were made out of rubber were literally falling off. See pictures. Lori Meadows and her team told me this was my fault. I just want everyone to know what type of business this is and how rude they are. After spending so much money it is a real shame to not only receive such an inferior product but to also be treated this way. Lori and her team told me it was my fault. Best place to buy hot tubs in Asheville! I own a dozen vacation rentals and have purchased five hot tubs from the great backyard place over the last several years. Prior to finding them I had been buying hot tubs from another company in Asheville and had a horrible experience with a tub that was installed incorrectly and damaged. The other company- who I will not name- did not stand behind their product and it took months to get our new hot tub working (so needless to say I had a little hot tub ptsd) The staff is always friendly and helpful, their zero interest financing is awesome, and we are yet to have any major issues with the tubs we have purchased. We did have one issue with error codes on the first tub we purchased from them and I was very impressed with how quickly they responded and sent a tech out- it ended up being a very easy fix but a fast response meant a lot to us (since they are not personal tubs) I've only purchase hot tubs from these guys so I can't speak on the patio furniture- it seems a bit on the pricey side but everything is high quality- so I guess you get what you pay for! read more

We purchased a 30' above ground pool 3 years ago from them because they said they could install it. First person that came to install it wanted to put it right next to the driveway so they wouldn't have to level much ground. Called to say we weren't comfortable with this person - seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. Was told they let him go - something sketchy but not my concern. Second guy seemed very nice. He had to do a little extra grading which we did pay him extra for that. Then he installed the wrong pool - smaller than what we paid for - brought someone else's pool. Was offered a partial refund if we wanted to keep it. Husband wanted what we paid for. Had to drain what water was in it - we're on a well - we hate wasting water. Installer only had one man to help him - no way was that going to work! Had to recruit neighbors and friends of neighbors to come help put up the correct one. The only problem is the installers didn't read the installation instructions. Should have had paving stones under each support pillar to keep it from sinking into the ground. If we had known this, we gladly would have purchased these ahead of time or even that day. Lowes is only about 15 minutes away. . Supports seemed to be separating from the side of the pool. Shared multiple pictures with our salesman, Brad, who told us "the pool isn't going anywhere". Was plumbed incorrectly causing the first pump to fail so they had to replace to pump with a slightly larger one. We ended up replumbing it ourselves to correct issues. The pool has never been correct - had a slight oblong shape to it. Levels of water are higher on two sides and lower on other sides - remember this is a ROUND pool! Even the electrical contractor we hired to handle all the electrical remarked on how it wasn't round like it should be. Here we are three years later - liner is coming off at the area near the pump. Reached out to the company and was basically told too bad. They don't do installs anymore. I understand length of warranties and such, but we had reached out to them during the warranty period and got nowhere. So the $16,000+ we have invested in this pool - includes pool $11,000 (cash),electrical work ($3,600) and water trucked in ($1,400) - looks like will all be for nothing. We are the only ones who use the pool, our only child lives in another state, no grandchildren, no neighborhood children use it - only us. No rough housing - just relaxing. It makes me sick to my stomach to look at it. I have lots of pictures - from install and every year after. I can guarantee that we will NEVER purchase anything from this company ever again. read more

I have received outstanding customer service for three different hot tubs I've purchased from this business for my rental properties. Ginger is an exceptionally genuine and kind person who has always taken an interest in the work I do. Matt is a great store manager who will bend over backwards to accommodate hot tub needs, even during a pandemic. I cannot recommend these guys enough! In addition, the hot tubs are great quality, and we receive lots of compliments from my rental guests. The delivery guys are also superb. And the gentleman recommended to me to maintain our hot tubs does a great job. Overall, this company provides everything you will need to have a great spa experience. In the fall of 2020 I went to The Great Backyard Place to purchase a 24' above ground pool. The installer that came out in the spring of 2021 was amazing & very professional. Brad the manager has been awesome. I had some issues with the pool at my own fault and he has been more than helpful, kind, and professional!! Went to get chemicals for this new season and Lee recommended I bring a sample in so I wouldn't be buying chemicals I didn't need and could save money. He is also awesome!! When we were able to talk to a person, we were lied to about getting the repairs done. This has been going on for a long time. The Great Backyard Place has an extensive line of expensive hot tubs but none of the staff wore masks even though they are required in stores in our county. The sales woman took me to an eighteen inch wide standing table where she read and marked points about the tubs in the brochures. As she stood less than two feet away from me emphatically praising the tubs, I told her I'd seen enough and left. I was very excited getting my new hot tub. It worked excellently for one month and then I got a crack in my hot tub. I was told it would take four months to get the same hot tub. I ended up getting the same model in a different color but it still took four weeks for that one to come in. After the new hot tub got set up they did not give me matching stairs as they had promised. I have called the store twice but the manager has not returned my calls. It has now been three weeks. I spent good money to get a quality hot tub and I have been very disappointed. read more

We bought a hot tub from these folks about 5 years ago. They provided us with all the information we asked for before the purchase, which helped us make a good decision. The truth is one can find less expensive hot tubs from other dealers in the area, but the team at The Great Back Yard was very open an honest, which meant we could compare apples to apples. Further, they provide top notch service and keep a full inventory are chemicals and supplies. Walked in prepared to spend several thousand dollars on outdoor furniture. After walking around the showroom for 10 minutes with 3 staff in the store doing their best to ignore us, we walked out. There was an employee in an office that looked away as soon as our eyes met, a lady standing at the front counter apparently waiting for the phone to ring, and a sales lady walking around the sales floor staying far away from us. When we walked out the front door, the sales lady had made her way near the door. Neither she nor the person at the front counter said a word as we walked out. Apparently they don't need to sell anything as they must already be making lots of money. read more

I ordered a hot tub in April and was told it would take 10-12 weeks to arrive. It came in not long after the 12 week mark, but was the wrong color. After trying in earnest to resolve the matter with numerous suggestions (all made by us), we were told "take it or leave it". The Great Backyard place would do nothing to correct the error or assume any responsibility. Simply the worst customer service I have experienced in a very long time. They get one star because the sales woman was super nice and very helpful. The general manager of the store didn't even acknowledge me and I was there last week. I was writing a check for multiple items and his rudeness just kept on coming out of his mouth. The frown on his face and his insults were enough. They have nice high end products but I refuse to do business with a company who employs management staff that is blatantly disrespectful of customers. If it couldn't get worse, he was having a casual conversation with the manager of another store who overheard his treatment of a guest/customer. He set the phone down to discuss a 6% discount. We purchased a patio set about 2 weeks ago. It immediately began staining our brand new patio. I called the store and explained to the lady the issue I was having. She seemed unconcerned and explained to me all the managers were out. I again told he my concerns that I had a brand new patio that was recently poured at $14,0000 and I really needed help. She eventually reached out to a Matt Miller who was in knoxville and he called me. What a jerk. He immediately told me it was not his issue that the $14K patio was ruined. He said he was not responsible since we stained it. Well the issue is we did not stain it, we told them that but they looked for an excuse. I really wanted to work this out and as an ex retail store owner I was amazed at the way Matt spoke to me and threatened me. I WOULD NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY and in my opinion they are selling very inferior product, not backing it and management that I have spoken to are completely non concerning and honestly Matt is somewhat of a Jerk. I still hope to resolve this but when I here from Matt and before he lets me say a word he say he will not take responsibility and to sue them if I want I don't have high hopes. read more

This is the most unethical organization I have had the misfortune of working with. The sales staff lied about every single aspect of my transaction from the cost to install the electrical outlet to the monthly payment! The salesperson told me whatever lie she thought would increase her chance of a sale. The sad part is, even if she had been honest about the costs involved, I would have bought the tub. I had my heart set on it. But I would have been more prepared if I'd had the facts. My advice to anyone who is considering buying from The Great Backyard Place... DON'T. If you do, do your research! Do not take the salesperson's word as truth. My experience leads me to believe they are paid on commission and will say whatever it takes to make a sale. Lesson learned. read more
