With malls looking terrible and mostly abandoned these days, its great to see that Alderwood Mall…read moreis thriving. I am really happy that Escapology came here as now there is something new to do when you end up meeting people at the mall. Plenty of easy parking, lots of places to eat nearby, you can also do some shopping, see a movie or play some video games. With another local escape room place closing recently, this may be the best local option. Its got many escape rooms to choose from, at some point I might do them all. Prices are high, but look for groupons and week day deals. Rooms are private for your group. Easy to book online. On a busy Saturday morning with not a ton of advanced planned we were able to make reservations for Batman. My 10 and 12 year old nephews seemed to enjoy it, but they are becoming escape room experts. The 12 year old had already been here and done another room. The youngest is already planning the escape room he wants to do next. We escaped with 1 minute and 11 seconds to spare. My brother complained the rooms were small and we would have struggled to fit the additional 2 people we considered bringing. The hints were provided on a computer screen so we were able to keep them up until we solved what we were working on. We used a lot of clues. One part did seem to have the answer already showing by overuse, but this was a bonus for us. Not overly dark, like some escape rooms. I really like the decor here, lobby included. Nice to have multiple bathrooms and a water fountain with cups in case you want to bring some water in with you. The escape room door is available to open at will in case you need to run to the bathroom. No lockers, but a basket to put a few items in the room if you don't want to hold them.

We walked in and were greeted immediately by three super nice, helpful employees. They explained all the rooms to us, from the easiest to the hardest. The lobby was awesome full of different clocks, fun wall art, games to play, and these cool, space shaped chairs. We picked the 7 Deadly Sins room. You get one hour to complete it and it's much harder than you think! There were four of us, and you really have to use everyone on your team. Write things down, divide tasks, and make sure everyone plays their part. We had the best time working together. It was difficult and challenging, but we made it out right down to the wire! This is an absolute must for a fun date (day or night), a work party, or any group event. I hope you have just as much fun as we did!

I am a regular climber somewhere around V5 and 5.10, and I found the rope course very engaging. They have a laser tag area, rock climbing and even gem stone mining for the littles. But the main reason everyone comes here is the elevated obstacle course in air. Everyone starts out with about 30 minutes of instruction on how to navigate the course safely. This mainly due to the fact that you have two tethers and only one can be up clipped at a time. Once you are up in the obstacle course you will find green(easy), blue(intermediate) and black(oh heck no). The option for you to personalize your adventure is always in your control. The staff watches very attentively over their guests. I did see them in action a couple times sprint out to check on a potential issue, that did not materialize, but they were there. The coming down from the upper levels is the best part, zip lines. There are multiple zip lines and multiple places to exit the course. This is a fun places for the kids and adults to play and experience. The pricing was very reasonable for the time we had on the course.

Our coach/instructor today was Asa. He was very helpful to both my friend Sammar and I. Sammar actually bought her bow and arrows at the Nock Point, and she told me how helpful the staff here was in making sure that the bow that she bought was a good fit for her. I own a bow and arrows, but they ended up not being the best choice for me to use for shooting archery today. I bought my bow and arrows in 2013 as props for photo shoots in 2013 and 2014, so I'm not shocked that they weren't suitable for archery action. So, I rented a bow and arrows today. I also bought a bracer for $15. My costs for today were around $50 for about 2 1/2 hours of shooting archery, but it will cost me around $35 when I go back, since I own the bracer now. Asa helped me adjust my form. I was struggling a bit with pulling the bow string of the first bow back far enough for my shots, so Asa replaced my 20-pound bow with a 16-pound bow, and the replacement solved this issue. He also adjusted the orange dot below the target to suit my patterns of shooting. He did the same thing for Sammar's orange dot. The orange dot helps with aiming. Our coach was quick to spot issues like this and to help effectively solve them. Sammar and I both ended up getting several bulls eyes, in part due to such excellent and attentive coaching. What a wonderful experience. Sammar and I will be returning for sure. Pictures 1 - 4 were taken today at The Nock Point. The target on the right of the photo was my target, and the target on the left of the photo was Sammar's target. Pictures 5 - 7 of me (and of me with my gladiators, LOL) were taken in 2013 and in 2014 at my photo shoots where I used my bow and arrows that weren't suitable for actually shooting archery today. Just wanted to share. With a name like Artemis (the Goddess Artemis is traditionally depicted with a bow and arrows), I was hoping I would be decent at this! Until today, I haven't shot archery since I was a child. I remember loving it as a kid and being pretty good at it, but I wasn't sure if I'd still be good at it as an adult. Happily I think I can say that I've still got it! Thanks to Asa, the great coach at the Nock Point, for his help today!

There's a total of 6 zip lines. They start at shorter and easier and increase in difficulty. I wouldn't say it's a very extreme zip line, there were plenty of young children doing it as well. Fun fact: the longest zip line is slightly longer than the Space Needle in length! There were about 8 people on the tour with my husband and I (not including guides). I think the only con is having to wait for everyone at every canopy which is understandable for a safety point of view but can take some time and I'm a bit impatient. But you're quite high up so I took the time to enjoy the views, peace and quiet of being in the forest! Also, a good opportunity to strike up some conversation with everyone else. The staff helped us get into our gear, get in and out of every zip line and gave us a velocity push when we wanted extra speed very kindly. Halfway through the tour, you even get freshly made lavender lemonade which was delicious. I would try to book this in advance if you're trying to go on a weekend. I went on a Friday afternoon and was lucky enough to book same day. All in all, if you're looking for a fun day trip activity nearby Seattle - this was an hour and a half drive and just a lovely day! Would come back for sure!

The team kept us laughing the entire time, answered all our questions, the food was genuinely delicious, and nothing felt stressful or chaotic. I for one took home some new methods that I have put to work in my kitchen. What really stood out was the experience itself. It is such a fun and accessible concept. You can lean in and learn or just sit back and enjoy, and it works either way. They also graciously let us stay past our allotted time without making our very chatty group feel rushed, which was very appreciated. Sorry! Highly recommend. Perfect for groups and just a really fun, memorable night.

I drove by this place recently and decided to take a glance and pulled up the class schedule. I was…read moreso surprised to find a class that would work for me, prices were high, but the location and concept sounded like such fun. I was able to score a Black Friday sale and opted to check it out. I often take my partner to classes like this, but since it sounded so intimate and it would be my kind of people I opted to go by myself and still had a great time. I guess it opened about a year ago, but I had not heard anything about it until I happened to drive by and I am in Edmonds all the time. This venue is so cute on the inside with plenty of easy street parking on a week night. I appreciated the check in beverage and snack while we waited for everyone to get there and get started. There are alcoholic options available for purchase and I must say this does make this class slightly superior to some others that do not offer these type of beverage options. They also give you an apron to wear so you don't have to stress too much about wearing something appropriate for cooking. The huge table for 12, allows for great views of everything and really gives you a chance to interact with your seat mates if you are into that kind of thing. This place is big so you don't feel like you are confined to your seat in a claustrophobic room like some other class room settings. The class I took was My Big Fat Vegan Dinner, I have taken lots of vegan cooking classes, but none quite as fancy as this. I appreciate that they show you all the ingredients ahead of time and give you a hand out with the recipes. We even sampled some of the vegan feta ahead of time, vegan butter was also present. Its a full meal experience, so you socialize, cook and eat. Our class was taught by a local chef and we learned a lot about him and his philosophies on cooking. We all helped with the prep, with some people taking on more intensive jobs and others just helping with the cutting. We learned quite a bit about different ways to chop things, even made a stock with the leftover cuttings. I absolutely loved the pita bread we made, who knew it was so easy. The pickles were delicious and this is definitely something I am planning to make at home in the future. I've never even had vegan spanakopita before. Everything was tasty and I certainly left full. The dessert we made was even served with 2 kinds of vegan ice creams. We were also lucky enough to take home some leftovers which made for a delicious lunch the next day. I've been telling everyone I know about this in the hopes that they will continue to add vegan friendly classes, but even if you prefer different kinds of food you should totally check this out. I am already eying Vegan in the Spring and trying to convince myself to sign up.
