This little spot is a freakin' gem! The highlight for me was definitely that handmade pie! It was so fresh and had the same taste and texture as carnival scones. And the fresh berries inside were delicious! You need to try one of the hand pies if that's the only thing you get here! Our sandwiches were really yummy as well. I got the Smokehouse and mom got the Bacon Apple Cheddar. Mine had a lot of sliced chicken breast which I appreciated. Very solid and filling panini, even if it was a little on the messy side. It wasn't mind blowing but it's a solid and safe choice if you want a great tasting panini. But man, I tried a handful of bites of my mom's sandwich and it made me wish I had gotten that one! Something about those thin slices of warm apples mingling with the melted cheese and bacon just worked so good! Not some crazy sandwich but something a bit more special than what you'd normally get. But it was fantastic. Definitely a winner and something I'd easily recommend getting here. That and the hand pie! read more

The scenery is more than enough to keep me here is a beautiful coffee house literally is built out of a very large house it seems to have existed here for almost 90 years... I love the interior it's comfortable and in the warmer months there's even wonderful outdoor seating. Now let's get to the fun part, the breakfast sandwich I had it on a buttery croissant with sausage and pepper jack cheese it didn't really have time to cool down because I inhaled it I am naturally I'm very talkative person so that must mean I have a big mouth... And I took big bites and this thing was so good it was gone in less than three minutes... Had to have the Italian cream soda because I was already talking everybody's years of being annoying from other caffeine and had previously in life I love the cream soda especially with whip cream... I had to go with strawberries for my flavor. This is a beautiful way to start your day I can see why people would never leave this city. read more

Adorable cafe and perfect for our lunch stop on the way from Rapid City to Devil's Tower. I had the Cowgirl (chicken salad on croissant) and hubby had the Cowboy (turkey, ham, cheese on bagel). Both were DELICIOUS! They came with lots of kettle chips and a pickle. We also got a yummy apple handpie / the perfect sweet treat. Highly recommend! read more

I typically love the Green Bean but I'm gonna have to stop getting bagels here. If you think that's butter, it's not. This is what you get when you ask to ADD cream cheese FOR ADDITIONAL COST. The best part is, this isn't the first time this has happened so I asked for a decent amount and here she is. Can hardly see it and can't even taste it. I love Green Bean but save yourself some money when it comes to breakfast and don't order the cream cheese, cause your not getting any anyway. read more

Not impressed. Pumpkin muffin was cold like it just came out of the fridge. Kids strawberry banana smoothie was made without fresh fruit must have been a mixture of some kind. Iced late was just ok. I must mention we waited 15 minutes at the drive through window for our 3 drinks. Supppper slow service. Am hoping to try their sister store Blackbird Coffee. Looks much better. read more

Maybe I ordered the wrong items, because I just wasn't impressed. The building is super cute and inviting. I got to the cafe around 730 am with my 22-month old daughter and ordered the Keto bowl with turkey and provolone. It was just okay (but I probably should have had had regular sausage). No kids breakfasts so we got the pb&j on sourdough. So. So good. Hahahaha They were out of animal crackers so we got applesauce. I ordered an oat milk triple honey hazelnut latte. Not good. Very nice people. Cute place. But I was not impressed with the healthy option. Maybe next time I'll get a muffin and upgrade my review. read more

Such a cute shop. Sat outside in the garden patio area which is wonderful on a hot day. The specials are great and Big Trains are good coffee-smoothie milkshakes like a frappucino. This is our favorite coffee shop in Spearfish and the food is good too. read more

Cute place with a fun menu that stands out in a small town that's seems to have primarily sit down restaurants with heavier menus. This place does get very busy during lunch time but drinks come out very quick and I love the indoor and outdoor seating. read more

First of all, this place for the win! There is not a lot of healthier fare food options around Deadwood, Spearfish, and Sturgis, so this place was my saving grace and a breath of fresh air. I came here everyday for the week we were visiting. All of their baked items are amazing and fresh. They are served warm. Their chocolate chip cookies are pretty stellar and I'm a cookie critic being a baker myself. The hand pies are great too. The hummus is homemade and delicious. My fave tea was the Egyptian Chamomile w/strawberry & honey. I added lavender to mine. My fave sandwich is the Spinach Parmesan bagel turkey Sandwich. If you're more of a health conscious eater and looking for for some fresh eats, this is your spot. The service is also great. The ambience is awesome, super chill. Every employee we encounter had a great disposition, super friendly. Totally a hidden gem! read more

Spent $22 dollars (including a $5 tip) for typically good coffee....today we ordered grande iced vanilla americanos....no vanilla. DISGUSTING. Unfortunately we are on our way through town and can't go back to get it corrected so today they get 2 stars for being rushed and not taking care of customers orders. I wish I could give 3.5 stars. Here's what I felt was good: Americano: 4 stars Service: 4 stars Ambience: 4 stars Lunch: 4 stars The uptown chicken salad was good, and the added touch of fresh bell pepper, tomato, red onion, and sprouts was nice. However, there were supposed to be grapes in the uptown and I did not get one hint of a grape. There were pecans, but no grapes. Here's what I felt was lacking: When I got up to the counter, the tray labeled "7 layer bars" was empty. I said to the cashier "bummed you don't have those. I really wanted to try one based on the reviews." She responded that she just hadn't refilled them yet and there were more in back. She grabbed me one and put it in a bag. When I looked at the counter later, the tray was refilled and the bars there were all twice the size of the one I received. It was good, but not amazing. 3 stars I would have missed the place entirely had someone not commented that it was a converted house and had I not followed google maps. It's hidden behind so many trees overgrown in front of it that you can barely see it from the road. Plus the fact that it's difficult to find info on this place because none of the three websites I saw posted anywhere for it actually worked. If you want people to come, make your place and info easy to find!! Prices were decent. I would go back. read more

We were driving Spearhead Canyon and as soon as we got to Spearhead we were hungry. Lots of the restaurants had not been reviewed by many. This Place had positive reviews so we tried it. Their paninis were very good. My friends had a chicken panini with pesto and mozzarella. The chicken was cubed. They thought it was very good. I had turkey, bacon and provolone. It had a mildly spicy sauce. The breads were either focaccia or sourdough. Really good paninis. Apparently the owner also has a bakery...there were delicious looking muffins, brownies and seven layer bars as well. Friendly staff. read more

I've been here many times. It's always busy. You may have to wait a few minutes to order and get your coffee but it's not outrageous. Staff are friendly and helpful. Usual prices for coffee. Swoon! I wish we spent more time in Spearfish so I could hang out at the Green Bean like a local. The coffee was aromatic and bold; it had great bite, great dark, and great nutty all in one mug. Very good. And the pastries must be made in house. You think you've had a bagel before and then you taste one of their vanilla nut bagels. It wasn't the cream cheese that stole the show - it was truly the bagel. So carby good! There's an outdoor patio and a little play area for the kiddos out on the grass. Bring a book or your lappy and hang out here a bit on their high top tables or plush couches. I could spend some lazy days here for sure. read more

This is just the best little coffee house I've found! My daughter introduced me to this little gem while she went to college at Black Hills State University! The chia tea is wonderful! Might I suggest adding an extra shot of espresso if you need and extra boost! If you go for lunch, order the uptown cowgirl! DELICIOUS! Every time I've gone, everyone is just sweet as can be. I'm so glad it's still open! I can go in the drive through and still get the quality of service as I would when going in. Now that my daughter has graduated from college, I don't find myself visiting Spearfish as much, but I make special trips just for The Green Bean! read more

In Spearfish, SD for a few months and had been planning on checking out the Green Bean. We finally went there the other day instead of stopping somewhere like Subway. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich on panini bread. I was shocked that it only had lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle on it. This sandwich cost $8.50!! My husband had a sandwich which had hardly any meat on it. His cost $9.00. Both were served with potato chips. No choice for a different side. We think this is more popular with the college kids, definitely not going there again. It was a rip off. read more
