This little spot is a freakin' gem! The highlight for me was definitely that handmade pie! It was so fresh and had the same taste and texture as carnival scones. And the fresh berries inside were delicious! You need to try one of the hand pies if that's the only thing you get here! Our sandwiches were really yummy as well. I got the Smokehouse and mom got the Bacon Apple Cheddar. Mine had a lot of sliced chicken breast which I appreciated. Very solid and filling panini, even if it was a little on the messy side. It wasn't mind blowing but it's a solid and safe choice if you want a great tasting panini. But man, I tried a handful of bites of my mom's sandwich and it made me wish I had gotten that one! Something about those thin slices of warm apples mingling with the melted cheese and bacon just worked so good! Not some crazy sandwich but something a bit more special than what you'd normally get. But it was fantastic. Definitely a winner and something I'd easily recommend getting here. That and the hand pie! read more

The scenery is more than enough to keep me here is a beautiful coffee house literally is built out of a very large house it seems to have existed here for almost 90 years... I love the interior it's comfortable and in the warmer months there's even wonderful outdoor seating. Now let's get to the fun part, the breakfast sandwich I had it on a buttery croissant with sausage and pepper jack cheese it didn't really have time to cool down because I inhaled it I am naturally I'm very talkative person so that must mean I have a big mouth... And I took big bites and this thing was so good it was gone in less than three minutes... Had to have the Italian cream soda because I was already talking everybody's years of being annoying from other caffeine and had previously in life I love the cream soda especially with whip cream... I typically love the Green Bean but I'm gonna have to stop getting bagels here. If you think that's butter, it's not. This is what you get when you ask to ADD cream cheese FOR ADDITIONAL COST. Maybe I ordered the wrong items, because I just wasn't impressed. The building is super cute and inviting. I got to the cafe around 730 am with my 22-month old daughter and ordered the Keto bowl with turkey and provolone. It was just okay (but I probably should have had had regular sausage). No kids breakfasts so we got the pb&j on sourdough. So. So good. Hahahaha They were out of animal crackers so we got applesauce. I ordered an oat milk triple honey hazelnut latte. Not good. First of all, this place for the win! There is not a lot of healthier fare food options around Deadwood, Spearfish, and Sturgis, so this place was my saving grace and a breath of fresh air. I came here everyday for the week we were visiting. All of their baked items are amazing and fresh. They are served warm. Their chocolate chip cookies are pretty stellar and I'm a cookie critic being a baker myself. The hand pies are great too. The hummus is homemade and delicious. My fave tea was the Egyptian Chamomile w/strawberry & honey. I added lavender to mine. My fave sandwich is the Spinach Parmesan bagel turkey Sandwich. If you're more of a health conscious eater and looking for for some fresh eats, this is your spot. The service is also great. The ambience is awesome, super chill. Every employee we encounter had a great disposition, super friendly. Totally a hidden gem! read more

However, there were supposed to be grapes in the uptown and I did not get one hint of a grape. There were pecans, but no grapes. Here's what I felt was lacking: When I got up to the counter, the tray labeled "7 layer bars" was empty. I said to the cashier "bummed you don't have those. I really wanted to try one based on the reviews." She responded that she just hadn't refilled them yet and there were more in back. She grabbed me one and put it in a bag. When I looked at the counter later, the tray was refilled and the bars there were all twice the size of the one I received. It was good, but not amazing. 3 stars I would have missed the place entirely had someone not commented that it was a converted house and had I not followed google maps. It's hidden behind so many trees overgrown in front of it that you can barely see it from the road. Plus the fact that it's difficult to find info on this place because none of the three websites I saw posted anywhere for it actually worked. We were driving Spearhead Canyon and as soon as we got to Spearhead we were hungry. Lots of the restaurants had not been reviewed by many. This Place had positive reviews so we tried it. Their paninis were very good. My friends had a chicken panini with pesto and mozzarella. The chicken was cubed. They thought it was very good. I had turkey, bacon and provolone. It had a mildly spicy sauce. The breads were either focaccia or sourdough. Really good paninis. Swoon! I wish we spent more time in Spearfish so I could hang out at the Green Bean like a local. The coffee was aromatic and bold; it had great bite, great dark, and great nutty all in one mug. Very good. And the pastries must be made in house. You think you've had a bagel before and then you taste one of their vanilla nut bagels. It wasn't the cream cheese that stole the show - it was truly the bagel. So carby good! There's an outdoor patio and a little play area for the kiddos out on the grass.
