Great place incredible Italian food. A must if you are in spearfish ! Heck worth the drive from Rapid City!!!

My daughter made reservations here for my Birthday and I'm so glad she did! You get a friendly greeting right inside the door of this fabulous old building, which has an Italian~feel decor! Our waitress was so friendly and helpful. We started off with a basket of bread served with a delicious dip! So good! I had Shrimp Scampi, and my daughter had fettuccini, which were both fresh & delicious! We tried the Lemon Cake & Flourless Chocolate Torte and it's hard to say which was better! The food here was delicious! The atmosphere was great. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. We would definitely eat here again. We did not have a reservation, but we did not have to wait long and they have a speakeasy bar in the basement where we could wait called The Tucked Tie. Fantastic cocktails and atmosphere. read more

Food is great, location is great, service is great. The place feels like a cross between an Italian dining room and the old West. Great ambiance. We had the Cacio de Pepe (get the candied bacon and roasted chicken added) and Crazy Green Bowties (add the shrimp). Fantastic. The side salad was excellent and locally sourced organic veggies. Fun and cozy atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised at how great the food and service were.

Called and ordered food to go and the bartender told me it would be 15 minutes until it's ready on the phone. Once I got there 20 minutes later, I had to wait another ten minutes for the food. I told the bartender "picking up for ___" and she rudely said my name followed with "who is that and why do I care?" And laughed to her coworker. Not sure why she is emitting off putting behavior when I started out with nothing but kindness. Then when she put our food in a to go bag she asked if we wanted silverware, and we said yes, thank you. When we got in the car we noticed she only put one set of silverware and the other set was completely empty plastic bag. Don't know what we did to rub this person the wrong way but as someone who is visiting from out of town this was not a good look for the restaurant. After a day of sightseeing and driving the scenic byway stopped in for a late lunch. Ambience is nice. Soft bread basket with softened butter, olive tapenade was yummy to begin with! I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs-came with 2. My portion was plentiful. Sauce was delicious and the meatballs were huge! Delicious food all around! This was a recommendation from a local from our plane ride here. We waited about 15-20 minutes on a Sunday afternoon for a table for two, and it was definitely worth the wait. They have a great cocktail and wine list. We got the bruschetta (not knowing they give you bread with a tapenade to start) and both were great. Only thing I'd change is the bruschetta toast was not very crispy. For our mains, we got the Baked Ziti (wasn't on the menu but was a substitute for their lasagna) and the chicken parmigiana with the Brussel sprouts at the side. WOW! The flavors were spectacular and everything was baked perfectly. Our server was very friendly and checked in often. The portions are huge, so share a plate if you're not overly hungry. Decided to hit this little gem for a late lunch. I wasn't expecting such nice dishes so I went with a small bowl of penne alla vodka. I was not disappointed!! The penne tasted fresh and cooked just over Al dente, the sauce was SO tasty!!! And let's not forget the fresh parmesan cheese my waiter grated over the dish. I lived in Naples Italy for 4 years and I have yet to find a place that brought back that taste of Italy. Well, I think I found it here in Spearfish. The service is very good. It is reasonably priced. Nice ambiance. I had the cherry amaretto chicken pasta. The flavor was amazing. Unfortunately the chicken was a disaster. It was breaded. The breading was good and the chicken was also good, but the breading came off all the of the chicken. Therefore, i was eating chicken, breading and pasta. What a treat to fine outstanding Italian Food in Spearfish, SD. With Sturgis Bike week going on, our group ended up at Nonna's for lunch and dinner several times for the quiet casual dining and absolutely the best service on our two week trip. The Baked Ziti was our favorite, followed by everything else was delicious too. Four brothers own the restaurant and we could not say more that they truly care for there customers. As we travel across middle America I continue to review Yelp and have not been disappointed. Today we wanted Italian and saw Nonna's. So, we went for dinner. Very nice inside. Old tunes playing and a great interior of an old building. Robert was our waiter who did a very nice job. Service was efficient and not pushy. My wife had a house salad she enjoyed. I ordered the compresse salad, it was delicious. My wife had spaghetti and meatballs. Spaghetti sauce was good. Meatballs were excellent. I had the Zara, or lasagna. The sauce was delicious.
