This is the best sushi I have had in a very long time. Wow. We got the big boat thing with 15 sashimi, 12 sushi, and 3 large specialty rolls of our choice, plus miso soup and salad. The miso was so savory and delicious. The salad was delightful with a dressing that was perfectly balanced. The sashimi selection was very fresh and tasty. The sushi was also a lovely selection including the eel which was superb. OK, those rolls...we got the Sakura, the Sea Dragon, and the Sunset. These were such creative, unique, and amazing selections. The Sunset was a perfect ender. If there was such a thing as a dessert sushi, this is it. Service was great. We walked in and got seated immediately. We were there slightly before the dinner rush. We got miso soup, egg rolls, and gyoza which were all great. The miso soup was delicious. The egg rolls were so crispy and the sauce had a nice spice to it. The gyoza were decent. We also got a few sushi rolls which were decent. They were light on rice and heavy on the fillings. There was one sushi Chef doing everything so it was impressively fast. There's a decent number of tables. Definitely a solid choice if you're in the area. read more

Came to Spearfish for a concert at Matthew Opera House. Found this gem of a sushi restaurant on Yelp. My goodness the food was amazing. I had the Perfect Match roll, hubby had New York roll. Both were top notch tasty! I wish i found this place sooner. Be prepared for a wait as only 1 person working front of house, 1 sushi chef , 1 back of house cook but soooo worth it! Waiter was very courteous and accommodating when he found out we were going to a concert he rushed our order so we were not late! So thoughtful. People don't believe me when I say we actually have good sushi in Spearfish but this place is great, and better than most if not all options in Rapid City (at least these days, some of my favorites went way downhill). Also something that is probably overlooked is their small Chinese menu, which has better food than either of the Chinese restaurants in town by a mile. read more

Be prepared to wait. Came here on a Wednesday night. I arrived at 7:10. I was told the wait for a table for 1 would be 15 minutes. I was seated at 7:50. I ordered my sushi at the same time I was seated because I was frustrated with the wait for a table and I didn't want to wait any longer to order. My sushi arrived at 8:57. I have never waited this long for sushi. It looked like it was one waiter, one sushi chef, and one chef in the kitchen. Completely understaffed. Sushi was average. We went for both lunch and dinner during their first week in business at this location. They have been VERY BUSY and haven't quite figured out the proper staffing proportions. Therefore, at this early stage, the wait for service/food is rather long. However, it's worth it. The food is very, very good. They have a great selection of sushi, sashimi, maki rolls, and hot foods. The owners are extremely hard working and friendly. If you don't have anywhere to be, go for it! If you are impatient, give them a few weeks to get their staffing in order. read more

Visiting Spearfish for first time. Great Town! Traditionally you don't look for raw fish in a small South Dakota Town but we found a good sushi joint. Lots of rolls and different combinations sushi. We came for some more traditional items like yakasoba, noodles and rices but wound up getting to great sushi rolls along with general tso's chicken and sweet and sour chicken. My fiancé knows that I love sushi so when he heard a new sushi restaurant opened up he surprised me by taking me there for lunch today. And ...OMG!!! It was absolutely delicious! I had the 3 sushi roll combo that comes with soup or salad, and when I say that everything tasted good, I mean EVERYTHING tasted good! I ordered the spicy crab, crab and cucumber and grilled salmon rolls along with egg drop soup and my fiancé order the sweet and sour chicken that came with a side of rice. We both shared everything so we could taste it all and there was not one thing that we didn't like. Not one. All the food was fresh and the prices are great. Crystal was our waitress and she was wonderful! You're immediately greeted as you walk in the door and are very well taken care of. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and it has a warm, cozy feeling. I was missing my old sushi place in Florida but not anymore! We will be heading back to try the dinner menu, which has even more rolls on there, including fried rolls. Yummmm! This is my new favorite place! P.S. The Soups tasted fresh and homemade, and the sushi shouldn't be ignored despite being in South Dakota - it's good. Lunch special entrees are a good value and taste great too. They really do a great job here, the fish was exceptional and it was pretty creative! The rolls were $12-$14 / each the sushi was $2 each - so it's not "cheap" - but neither is the food! You wont regret coming to here! read more
