LOVE this place the vibe alone is worth a visit It's amazing how much product they pack in and it's always organized and clean. produce is fresh and there's usually a good hot organic coffee, also tea n muffins. Not sure the hours it's served but there's fresh hot soup and a kitchen with a limited selection but always tasty and handy if you're going for groceries anyway. Wow, this store has the best of everything you would ever want for groceries and health food, health supplies & fresh vegetables. Prices are average for normal stuff, a little bit more for specialty food, but specialty foods are always a bit more (to be expected) Helpful and a friendly staff as well. We did some serious shopping there, then came back and did some more serious shopping. Great Place, wish it was closer to home, but a trip to Portsmouth is nice anyway. I have used Green Grocer almost exclusively for the past 5 months,for all our groceries. What I did not guy here I bought organically at one of the local Farmer's markets that sell organics. I cannot believe how great this spot is. I am in there nearly everyday. There produce is spectacular, and 100% organic which was required by my Health provider due to chronic inflammation I have had forever. The level of assistance is incredible and the prices are quite a bit better than you might expect. They even have a decent rewards program that has saved me bucks. I love the chicken and meat options they have as well. I feel very confident shopping here as I now eat almost 100% organic and not only feel better but have the bloodwork to prove how good it is. In particular Dave the owners son has been especially helpful in product selection . The store has great hours, and has a steady clientele all day long. I wish there were more places like this around! Our Community is blessed!! read more

This store has a wide selection of many delicious and various food items. I always love coming in. I have found that the salads aren't always as fresh as they appear. A few times I got a salad I have found dead flies in it. Today I found mold in my salad that was sell by September 6th. I'm upset about the quality of these salads and hope they can find a way to improve this problem. read more

The five star rating on Yelp is deceiving because The Green Grocer deserves way more for being an amazing organic market. What really puts this market over the top over ordinary grocery stores is the friendly and helpful nature of the people who work there. Customer service is simply phenomenal there, and it really shows that they genuinely enjoy helping customers out. I don't think I've ever walked out without talking to all of the workers there, each with different knowledge of products in the store. I've gotten many great personal recommendations on different items, especially supplements and all have been great. I would like to take more advantage of the awesome bulk section that they have. They stock lots of rices, nuts, grains, and coffees to name a few. I am a big fan of their supplement section and the boxed tea section as well. This is one of my favorite groceries stores even though I do not make it over there as much as I wish! There is usually a good selection of local organic produce, the bulk section is awesome and easy to use, and the employees here are beyond amazing. They greet you with a sincere hello, check that you have found everything and will have a REAL conversation hahaha. I always find some sort of new product at The Green Grocer. Coconut macaroons no one else seems to carry, locally made raw organic chocolate bars and they even have kombucha on tap. The prices are fair for being on Aquidneck Island, there is a discount if you bring your own bag and The Green Grocer also has it's own rewards card to save up points to earn a gift certificate to the store. They have fun family events with free food during the summer, if I remember correctly to celebrate their anniversary. Overall this shop has a heart warming, comforting, family atmosphere that I have never felt or seen in a grocery store. read more

I wish I could tell you the Green Grocer is one stop organic shopping but it's not. The produce section is small and maybe this is because I usually shop here on the weekend but usually it's looking a little wilted and weathered as well. What brings me back here time and again is the kombucha, the Field Roast meat substitutes, the milk, yogurt and cheeses, the tea, pet and spices sections and also the various organic cracker, cookies and pastas they carry. Additionally, they have quite a large selection of health and beauty products which are really great. In short, the Green Grocer is the perfect place to come if you want to try out a new healthy trend such as flax oil, chia seeds, or hemp powder because the staff are all really knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you may have. The man who was working early on a Sunday a few weeks ago took pity on me and let me shop early even though they were not yet open. To him, I give my thanks (as I did already in-person) and to the store, I give my appreciation for having a kind person be on the staff. I always appreciate a bulk items section in a grocery. The Green Grocer has one. The prepared egg salad that I had (Annie's egg salad) was delicious. It is larger than other natural groceries that I have visited with a pretty wide variety of dry goods. Yes, it is true that the produce section is small. But given the perishable nature of these items, I agree with keeping it small, but well stocked. (Which it was well stocked). This store is not a major grocery store (a la S&S), so you shouldn't go expecting that. You should go expecting thoughtful care and selection of items to nourish your body and that give concern for our environment. read more

This is my go to place for fresh kombucha, vegan and vegetarian soups, and fresh vegan sandwiches (my favorite is the Vegan BLT). The staff is always accommodating and friendly. I love the Green Grocer. The store is clean, uncluttered and light. I find the selection varied and complete. The store is probably 1,300 square feet, so it is not a Whole Food Market, but there is 99% of what I want and 100% of what I need. What I like: Bulk Bins Fresh Fruit and Veggies Vitamins and Personal Care Section that is large M-W-F Indian Food Lot of refrigerated/frozen selections - probably 4 double door units frozen probably 6 double door refrigerator units. Friendly, knowledgeable staff Sea Snack - which I have a hard time finding Multiple choices of things like apple sauce, peanut butter etc. The organic apples are the least expensive I can find in RI Love this spot, highly recommended. read more

I've been to the Green Grocer a few times now, and never does it disappoint. I went in for the first time with a friend who was looking for a supplement that they did not carry. However, they were able to order it for her and it arrived in no time! I went back recently looking to find some specialty organic juices. The employee working was very friendly and helpful and I was able to find everything I needed. I was also happy that they keep their customers informed about the products they are consuming and the practices of the companies who manufacture these products. I was disappointed to find out that my favorite cereal contained GMOs, so the Green Grocer stopped carrying it. The sales associate was able to recommend a substitute for it though, which is just as satisfying. I will definitely continue to come here.
