Even though it's my neighborhood market since I'm a kid, at this point I'd much rather drive further and go to different market. Lees used to be amazing. Nowadays it's outrageously expensive, beyond terrible organic food section often neglected with rotting produce, and the prepared food is a joke. Terrible quality. The people that work there are very nice which is why I gave two stars, many have been there since I'm a child which is nice. But the owner is rude and dismissive. Before she took over when Albert still ran it, it was one of the best markets you'd ever go to. Thank god he still owns the liquor store which is attached. The liquor store is great and extensive and clearly something that is cared for. read more

Maybe there's a better grocery store than Lee's but I haven't found it. Staff - super friendly Size - perfect size. Hate walking that triple football field that is S&S. Ambiance - pleasant with local produce and goods highlighted. My kids love the Lego display and the little "grocery store" for them. Oh and the free balloon and treat for birthday. Produce - for the most part really good, especially from the local farms. Meat - I usually buy chicken or ground beef which are both quality. We were camping at Horseneck Beach and this was the closest market. I'd looked at their website and it reminded me of a market near our home. That was an under estimate of Lee's on my part. My wife and I were very impressed with overall quality, selection and service from this market. Plus a huge beer and wine selection. We will definitely come back! Just a note that the prices are higher than your chain grocery stores, but if we though the quality and convenience of location was worth it. read more

Not like when the Lees still owned and ran the store. Lots of junk for sale and very high prices but good produce and meat/fish. My issue is that I cannot return something I bought during the first/second COVID surge (not food). They are requiring now only within 30 days which would be reasonable except I was not allowed to make a return before this (or now). I won't shop there again. read more

I end up at Lees every summer either because of family or I'm on my way to Horseneck. For a pre-beach stop, it's basically perfect, but the service is absolutely bipolar. Some really nice and sweet staff, but the woman with glasses at the sandwich counter is on a mission to ruin as many people's days as she can. Don't let her! read more

Probably one of my favorite markets, ever. Once a small little podunk market on Main Road, it's evolved into a high-class grocery store with all the trimmings. When my relatives lived down this way, I used to look forward to stopping in here every weekend to gather some goodies from their deli and prepared food case when visiting the fam. A sushi counter popped up in the last few years and picking up one of their delicious spicy tuna rolls was a must for chowing en route to the family compound. The bakery while small-ish has some great fresh rolls, breads and other sweet treats. Their produce is nice but not much in the way of variety. If you're hitting here during spring / summer, save some bills and stop at one of the many farm stands that lay a stone's throw eastward to grab some fresh, local fruits and veggies. Meats? Excellent quality at a fair price. Not inexpensive, but not resort / island - priced either. And my fave - the liquor store attached to the grocery over at the end of frozen foods. Don't recall the spirit selection but I know that I did enjoy some of their table wine and finer vineyard selections. They have an expansive beer collection with coldies a-plenty in their cool case. I do believe that they allow you to check out your grocery goods with your liquor...not so sure. We would usually approach with the divide and conquer strategy with our liquor and grocery purchases and meet back at the car to load the cooler. I stop when I find myself down here now, which isn't too often. A recent breeze through Westport made stopping here a must. But what a great stop on the way to Horseneck Beach - or a side trip on the way home from Four Corners? Romantic picnic or beach munchies. Great local biz. read more

Today was my first time purchasing some groceries at Lee's. As a vegan, it's tough for me to love one grocery store as I typically have to go to two or three to get everything I need. It seems all grocery stores carry vegan items, but they don't all carry everything. Which is a little bit of a pain, but I'm used to it. Obviously that means I'm going to a lot of big name grocery stores. I've heard good things about Lee's, and I love that they are local and support other local businesses. I knew I had to check them out for that aspect. First, since it's a grocery store in a small town, their prices are higher than other stores. I figured this coming in, but my total was still more than I thought considering how little I purchased. However, I have spent more for even less at Whole Foods, so I won't complain. They have a pretty good range of vegan options! Including tofu, and a whole section of frozen foods. I was also impressed with their organic frozen fruits and vegetables. It's the largest amount and variety I've seen in my area! I love buying frozen fruit and vegetables for certain items so they last longer. Plus it's easier. On this alone, I'd definitely come back here for my organic frozen vegetable needs. Their fresh fruit and vegetable section was small compared to other stores. I honestly only was purchasing Avocados. They didn't have many bags left of organic ones, but they all looked and felt okay. I can't comment on other fresh items as I didn't purchase any. However, I did notice a larger organic section than most and I saw some items I don't normally see at other stores. I'll have to check it out next time I come in. For other everyday items, I can get them elsewhere for less expensive prices. For organic or all natural or unique items - this is definitely a great place to go. I wish I lived a little closer, but I'll definitely be back again soon. Support your local businesses! read more

Lees is the best place; well it is also the only place in Westport, but what I like is they have upscale food plus the basics. Wine/beer store attached also. On our vacation to Westport every year we stock up on the essentials here, but always have breakfast at Lees Cafe. Donuts, coffee, all self serve. They have a delicious quiche cup that my husband has every morning. After hours at the beach we stop back and pick up meatballs and pork tenderloin from the deli for our lunch at home. Free WiFi; very nice staff, One more bonus; kids can "clean" the fish tank while you check out groceries. Smart read more

Who doesn't love Lees!? They do not have the biggest variety of items, but they do have a great amount of stuff. Their prices are a bit above average, but they also have many specialty items, which is often why you go to Lees the most. The best thing here is the sushi AMAZING! Htin makes an awesome roll, specialty rolls and platters available upon request. read more

Lees use to be a great place to shop , when the former owner Al ,ran the business .i have been frequenting, the store for 25 years. Since the new owner took over , the quality has tanked, while the prices have risen! The management, is rude, insulting, and arrogant. The last thing you see is the scowling , angry faces, of a supervisor ,as you leave. The current management should take a field trip to market basket, and learn how to interact, with customers! Lee's market was part of my "decision equation" when I bought my home in Westport, are you kidding me?! I wanted a high quality, local market that carried a good array of items because I love to cook with local, fresh meats and produce. Lee's gets it done, and done VERY well. I don't know which Lee's market Steve P is shopping at, but I can't believe it's the same one I go to. The folks I see at Lees are always courteous, helpful, and friendly to me, and have been since the first day I walked in 4 years ago and every couple of days a week since. As for the store - props for the recently expanded meat selection, the addition of a great little fresh seafood case (please keep this going, Matt) the always awesome cheese selection, and OF COURSE for Heather - keeping me in top shelf Pinots, Cabs, Nero D'avolas, Rosés and more! The breadth AND depth of the Wine & Liquor store is nothing short of spectacular for a local rural market, and still impressive by any standard. I am grateful for Lee's - and would encourage anyone to stop in. Nary an item comes to mind (from hard to find Scotches, to oil cured black olives, to ricotta salata?!! I love it!) that I haven't found at Lee's. I struggle with believing you'll be disappointed. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some Thanksgiving shopping to do... guess where?! read more

Lee's is great. Not just because going to Lee's means I'm stocking up on beach munchies on my way to Horseneck... but that factor certainly doesn't hurt. It's such a nice place to shop! Traditional foods, Whole Foodsy foods, but better than Whole Foods because there's a Lee's stamp on it. Landscaped islands in the parking lot, often free samples to try from local biz's on the weekends, attached liquor store, fish tank :) The prepared foods are fab and I love getting sandwiches (tons of options to chef up your own creation) and the occasional lobster roll (awesome deal) at the Blue Lobster Cafe. I do wish I lived a bit closer to this local market. There's not a lot else around and the prices reflect that, but it is also better than your local chain supermarket. They have a very large prepared food section and you could easily run in and grab lunch or supper for the family here. They carry quite a few local items as well as hard to find and more gourmet items. Everyone I have encountered here is quite friendly and helpful. No review of Lees would be complete without a mention of the liquor section. The wine selection is ridiculous and could rival some large liquor stores. I saw a fair amount of difficult to find bottles here and a few new finds as well. It's definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

Just wanted to stop by and mention what a great service Al Lees and his crew at Lees Market had provided to many of us during hurricane Sandy. They cafe was open earlier in the day and we were free to sit down and enjoy the amenities of electricity and warm breakfast. They also set a table where we were able to charge our phones, get wireless connection and talk to our loved ones to let them know that we were okay. Without power now for over 26 hours, it is always great to know that this little close community is the place i've chosen to call home. The hot coffee and the girls at the cafe were sweet and attentive as always. Thank you so much. I might have to stop by tomorrow again if power is not back. read more

Gotta love the local Westport grocery store. I stop in here constantly whenever I'm in town to pick up just about everything. They do a great job of providing healthy/ organic options, so I know that Lee's is always a good choice when looking for something that your typical small-town grocery store might not have (ie. Bragg's, nutritional yeast, local dairy, etc). Prices aren't cheap, but that's to be expected, considering the smaller scale and local ownership. Bonus: A superb beer and wine store is attached! Pick up a 6-pack or ask the knowledgeable staff to suggest a nice bottle of vino. read more

Great market and staff is always friendly, but when I asked for two 12 oz tenderloin steaks, I got the small end of the tenderloin, so each "steak" was about 4" high! Decided to make Wellingtons with them instead. Surprisingly weak butcher trick to get the premium price for the short end of the cut. read more

I do the bulk of my grocery shopping at Lees and am happy to do so. Many people say their prices are a touch higher, but truth is, if you wait for their sales - many of the specials are on par with what Stop N Shop offers. Their prepared foods are incredible and the wine selection is the best in this area. I moved here from California and was crushed at the lack of wine stores nearby, until my husband pointed me in the direction of Lees. The wine prices are high, but I think I've been spoiled by California all these years. The one area I wish Lees would improve is their meat alternative selection. We're vegetarian and I still have to go to Target for much of that. I was happy to find vegetarian Worcestershire sauce here though! I'd given up hope on finding it anywhere but Whole Foods! The staff is always friendly and helpful and I love that they employ local teenagers. They're also very community oriented with lots of events around the holidays and in the summers. Love this store. It's chock full of gourmet goodies and most of all, my go to Kombucha source when I am in the 'hood. They have so many different brands and flavors of Kombucha. Also, their sushi is pretty darn good. read more

Lee's has long since been a go-to of mine, and I applaud their expanding selection of local produce and items (the package store, I know is separate now, but has a great selection!) however the meat department leaves much to be desired. The selection is a majority factory farmed meats, with some greenwashing going on with "all natural" and "vegetarian fed" stickers on them... With all the farms in the area I am confused as to why I cannot get any locally raised meats. There was one selection of beef that looked very unappetizing as it had been previously frozen and had a very dull grey coloring to it. The highlight is that there is a nice selection of natural sausages and Applegate farms luncheon meats, etc. What do I desire from the butcher you may ask? Meats that have been raised locally, and if not locally something that is certified humane, or from a company that isn't just a different label from a factory farm. I'm sure many of you will laugh at my review, but for those of us that care about the foods we eat, we will continue to be disappointed and have to shop at chain stores like Whole Foods to be able to get everything we need in one stop. Lees is close, but not quite. read more
