(3/5 Stars) In Response to the Owner's Comment The reason for my 3-star rating wasn't just the price increase. As I mentioned in my review, the parking challenges were also a factor. I understand prices have gone up everywhere, and I do think the services are good quality, but those two things together are why I rated it 3 stars instead of higher. Pricing I first visited The Green Salon a couple of years ago for a basic trim. Back then, it was about $20, which included a hair wash but not a blow-dry. The stylist actually ended up blow-drying my hair anyway at no extra cost, and the cut was exactly what I asked for -- neat and clean, nothing major style-wise. When I recently called to book another cut, I was told the most basic haircut is now $35. I know prices have gone up everywhere, but I was expecting closer to $25 based on my last visit. I decided not to go through with it that day since I hadn't budgeted for both the cut and a tip. Salon Atmosphere The salon itself is small and tidy, with a few chairs for waiting. The décor isn't glamorous but has a simple, cute feel. It's not the type of place where I felt extra pampered or "wow" vibes, but it's clean and straightforward for a quick haircut. Parking The location is a bit tricky. There's a very small parking lot that's hard to maneuver, and during my most recent visit, it was locked. I ended up parking on the street (on a hill) and walking about a block. Overall My past haircut here was good quality, and the salon itself is clean and no-frills. If you're okay with the parking challenges and the current pricing, it's worth trying for a simple, budget-friendly haircut. read more

OMG!!! What can i even say, i've been here twice already. Once for my highlights, then for my prom hair, and i just came back today because i recommended my friend. I walked in with my hair straightened and he told me that my hair looked very dry. He then asked me if he could do a hair mask on my hair free of charge and i said ykw, YES! He did it for me and gave me tips to add more moisture to my hair and gave me a blowout. It was such a kind gesture and i love him for that. I never write reviews but this is the worst haircut I've ever paid for. I asked for curtain bangs and long layers. Before we started he showed me how much he would cut off which was about an inch. Then he proceeded cut the most aggressive layers where the front layers are 4 inches shorter than the back and most of my hair is chopped off. The whole process took less than 5 minutes and he never checked in so I didn't even have a chance to say anything. read more

I usually come here for haircuts because the prices are great--only $25! When I visit, they typically wash my hair before cutting it, which is a nice touch. Recently, I took my baby sister to get her haircut for the same $25 price. While she definitely needed a haircut, she didn't like how it turned out, although I thought it looked cute. When I arrived to pick her up and pay, I was surprised to find that they didn't wash her hair at all. On top of that, they charged me an extra $25 just to straighten her hair, which didn't make much sense to me, especially since they didn't wash it first. I've brought multiple people to this place before, but I'm pretty disappointed with this experience. I'm not sure I'll be returning anytime soon. I'm a bit disappointed.. hopefully next time I won't leave feeling I was taken advantage of. read more

Loooove the vibes at this location! I called early morning and was greeted by a wonderful receptionist over the phone. I asked for a same day haircut for my son and was able to be seen within an hour! Of course there is a small wait when you arrive as others are finishing up their services but I didn't mind considering they had an energetic spirit for an 8am morning lol -As i was waiting for my teen i asked José if he could also squeeze me in and also service me a haircut and he said of course! I got my hair rinsed while waiting on my son and then José recommended a special cut to show off my peekaboo blonde! DO NOT COME HERE! Save yourself the headache and stress and go somewhere else. The stylist chopped my bangs completely lopsided and absolutely refused to fix it. The other stylist there finished the cut and blowout. Didn't correct cause you can't add more hair once you chop it off but at least she attempted to fix it. I look insane and have to go get it fixed down the street. read more

I've been coming to Jose since I was a kid in middle school. His work ethic only gets better with time! I truly have never had a bad experience with him. He is very thorough, professional, and kind. I'm not sure why there are a few reviews saying he cuts hair badly. This is a small business so yes he might go and answer a phone call or ring up a customer, however he truly cares about his clients and providing a good haircut. Come in and leave feeling brand new. I'm visiting LA for the week and needed a fresh cut. I looked up different salons that could cut men's hair and I'm so glad I came across the team at The Green Salon. I called in and the manager who answered the phone was very responsive and answered my questions, I needed to come in early and they were accommodative. The shops vibe was 5/5 highly rec Now for the cut! I got booked with Gaby and am so glad I did. I'm an Asian man with short straight hair for reference and I wanted to get a "taper" which is cutting down the lower and back sides of my hair. I showed Gaby reference photos and she executed the cut perfectly! With ease I'll add. She checked in with my on length before proceeding, and she was very detail oriented. After the cut I got a complimentary wash and she did final detail work. She also helped clean my bear and lined my mustache! I felt like a million bucks after leaving my cut and it was so affordable, at $25 before tip! Overall I couldn't recommend Gaby enough for a men's haircut and it looked like the rest of the hairdressers were taking care of their customers as well. All the staff were super helpful and explained the process to me and the risk my hair could go through, you can tell they genuinely love what they do and truly care about making sure you leave happy with your results. I got my hair done here on 7/20. I went in for color and decided to get a trim as well. The process was ok. I was satisfied with color. I have naturally wavy hair. So I ask for long layers (FYI I got my hair cut by Jose)Everything looked ok until I decided to do my hair straight a week later and realized the hair cut was HORRIBLE. The layers were completely choppy. I had to go get it fix somewhere else Bc I will not trust them to touch my hair again. Best advice, if you have wavy hair don't go there and if don't trust me see the picture. read more

I called ahead making sure if I came in, I'd be ready to be seen. And I was told to come on in. With doing so, I came in. No one greeted.. which is not completely terrible but there was no receptionist whatsoever. So I just sat down. Sat down for a few minutes to still no one coming up asking if I needed a service done. Got up to show that I'm here and still no acknowledgement. An elderly couple came in after me, after I've sat down waiting for minutes plus. They were seen and helped immediately. I got up once more to show face and no one offered to help. So all I can suggest is to have a receptionist. I don't expect myself to shout to a stylist while they're helping another client or if they're way in the back sitting down. YOU NEED A RECEPTIONIST. Or at least pay attention once in a while to the front if you don't plan on having someone greet or assist clients when they walk in. To the reply on my review- If you really read what I've written, it was more of me sitting there and having to get up more than twice to try to get noticed. It wasn't solely on being not greeted, more of acknowledging that I was there and to at least let me know how long the wait will be or that someone will be with me shortly. I looked and seen two men sitting in the back chit chatting. They may have been on a break. I'm not sure so that is why I also expressed I shouldn't have to or need to shout to get an attention. Even if you're working on a client, to just say "just a moment, be right with you" would suffice. Also I was sitting there for a while after a woman and a man walked in who did in fact get helped immediately. You may not be able to hire more help but I also said having anyone who alreadt works there occasionally walking up to the front to check if anyones there can take a couple seconds of your time even when working on a client. So my review was based on my experience. Someone else may have a better one. You'll only know if you go in yourself everyone! read more

If I can give zero, I would. Jose cut my hair. Rude and was more concerned about talking with other people then handling his client. I said leave my hair long because I have a wedding. Left it up to my shoulders after months of letting it grow. Oddly enough he touched my back to tell me where he was going to cut it but yet went inchessss more. It's uneven because he didn't even take the time to clean up my line (female). He put a pony tail, cut it, and took few cuts and done. My haircut was less then 5 minutes. Worse hair cut ever. Then I go a day before ask for the price of a picture n I told them how much for this exact pic just adding curls to the rest of hair the male that helped me when I walked in on Thursday morning told me 35 for any style I'm like are u sure this with curls n he said yes then I go get my daughter hair done n they pop up wit 50 bucks for something very simple and my daughter didn't move at all not even cried . Worst experience of my life. Forget about appointments here. They do not stick by the scheduled time, so be prepared to wait hours without any apologies. I went in for hair balayage last month and this is the worst balayage of my life. Jose does not know how to do balayage. What I got was more like highlights, which is definitely not what I asked for. I don't even know if I can consider these highlights. It's just a mess and it's clear that he did not know how to do a balayage. Worst of all, I have random patches and there is no blending whatsoever. My hair was way better off before this. Please do not come here for balayage or hair color. I am still horrified over the job that they did and now I have to wait to just dye it all one color to hide the patchiness. read more

She had the audacity to say that is normal her name is Carmen for future reference, and the owner did nothing about the situation! Positive: The look that I got was great, a trim with curls for an event I was going to later in the evening. Jose is a professional when it comes to that. Negative: 1. I had an appointment but I still had to wait 15 minutes until he was done with his prior customer. Not a problem but, when you turn the salon into a loud nightclub type setting with laughter, loud music, and banter, that becomes a problem because all that leads to is distractions and tardiness. 2. He has a huge husky in the shop that walks around and sits on the chairs that patrons sits on. I love dogs but that's a bit too unhygienic for me. 3. I understand it is easier to style thin hair but I think it could still be done to thick hair without chopping/thinning out half my hair. I use specific shampoo just so my hair could be thick and he thinned out my hair a little too much. 4. I have never experienced a stylist conducting other business while doing a patron's hair. Even though he apologized for it, I felt it was kind of rude and unprofessional. 5. Not big on hygiene given that he accidentally got hair in his mouth while doing my hair and took it out with his fingers instead of wiping it with a tissue then he proceeded to continue to do my hair without washing/sanitizing his fingers....yikes! Great price for the results you get but, it's not for me. Only came here because the other salon I usually go to is closed on Sunday and my event happened to be on a Sunday. read more
