This was a great breakfast place. I recommend the biscuits and gravy. The corned beef was made with REAL corn beef and my husband loved it. He said it was seared perfectly with a crispy exterior and soft interior. My boys were super satisfied with their meals. As a mom of two boys on the spectrum it is often hard to get them to eat. My youngest had the french toast and he ate 1/2 of it which is amazing. My 15 y/o ate all of the pancakes. Normally he would only eat 1/2 of 2 pancakes but today he ate two. He loved how fluffy and light they were. He also commented on how they were still steaming a bit. They were short staffed (not their fault) but everyone still was polite and attentive. We stopped here on a road trip from Boise to Reno. I've eaten here previously and always found it to be a solid option in a town where the pickings are slim (or maybe there's more to Winnemucca than meets the eye?). This visit was no exception. The service was fast and friendly. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla and was pleased to see it came served with chorizo (yummy!). The hash browns were a bit disappointing (undercooked...not anywhere in the realm of crispy--I should say, however, I AM a bit picky when it comes to the browns!). One of my dining companions ordered Auntie Mo's potatoes, which from the description sounded as though it would be home fried potatoes with cheese, green onions etc (a typical skillet type meal). In actuality they were made with traditional hash brown potatoes, which was a little odd. He reported that though not what he expected, they were "decent". Another dining companion ordered the chicken fried steak and reported that it was pretty good, though a skosh on the tough side. The coffee was ok (I'm a sucker for some kickin' diner coffee and this was not that). Overall, however, I'd have to say they were a-ok--we pulled in famished and left satiated. read more

Stopped here for breakfast on a road trip and VERY glad we did. Service was beyond excellent. Coffee was very good. It had great flavor. I had a build your own omelet. It was excellent. It was the perfect amount, the eggs were fluffy and had good amount of ingredients I choose. Hubby had breakfast burrito Spanish style which he said was very good. My son had the meat lover scramble. It was loaded with meat and eggs fluffy, looked very tasty. Over all, I had no complaints. Can't say enough about service, it was awesome, never needed anything, coffee and water always full. Above-average diner. I really like the menu. Service was quick and pleasant, food came out surprisingly fast and, other than the uncomfy, cut up butt-part of the booths, good place. Nuts and fruits and meats and celery and onions all gooed together with mayo. Pretty good. The included side of cucumber salad surprised me with some extra veggies & a vinegar-type dressing. My wife had Dad's Hotcakes and two were ample though an order of three is available. The hotcakes were served with an excellent hot maple syrup, and my wife ate one with the syrup and one with a tasty home-made strawberry jam which she said was "the best". I treated myself to granola fruit waffles. The traditional style waffles (Belgian are also available) were nicely adapted with the addition of granola giving it a modern twist. I was raised in New Jersey, with a strong diner culture, so I'm being very serious when I say this. Hamburger dry and plain, potato salad was impossible to eat potatoes were still raw and impenetrable, I ordered soup and it was not served , the french fries were way over cooked and hard. The Griddle seems to be "the" breakfast spot in Winnemucca for travelers and locals. I know why- great food, great service, reasonable prices! I had the quinoa, chorizo tostadas- yum! I asked for tea, and I was brought a cup of hot water, a mini teapot with hot water and a basket of Tazo teas to choose from! I'm glad I took a picture, I'm going to try to recreate the "quinoa salad" on top of the eggs. Staff was very friendly as well. Walked in and noticed a help wanted sign for a cook. We have been here before and had a great breakfast. Our lunch today was disappointing. My sons grilled cheese was not melted and cheddar instead of the ordered American. My husbands pepper jack cheese was more like jack cheese with red pepper flakes on top of the cheese.
