But did they stand out enough to justify the "original" reputation? Not really. In my opinion, the wings don't beat other wing spots or even national chains in terms of quality. The biggest advantage here is probably the price. My bigger frustration, though, was with the happy hour situation. Happy hour was advertised everywhere, Google, the restaurant's website, social media, and the posts I found were recent. We specifically came during the advertised happy hour time, only to be told by both our server and the manager that this location didn't offer it. When I pointed out that we were going to head to the happy hour next door instead, suddenly they said they could give us a discount. I appreciated the attempt, but the discount still didn't actually match what we should have received based on the advertised happy hour, which left me pretty frustrated. If you're going to advertise a promotion across multiple platforms, especially recently, it should be honored, or at the very least, the online information needs to be corrected. We were visiting from California and came to catch the soccer game on a Saturday early evening. The bar wasn't busy when we sat down, which makes the experience below even harder to explain. A skinny bald gentleman who appeared to be a manager was dismissive from the start, walking away mid-sentence before we could even order, multiple times, always rushing off only to go stand at the host desk. If you want Anchor Bar wings near the Falls, do takeout -- skip the dine-in experience entirely. Will we come back? No. Would we recommend dining in? No. To management: scroll through these reviews and you'll see service complaints going back a year or more, same issues, same patterns, still unresolved. Whoever has been running this floor has had more than enough time to fix it. Replying to reviews with apologies isn't the same as addressing the problem. I've heard about Anchor bar many times over the years and though the pics I've seen of their Buffalo Wings never looked appetizing to me, I stopped in here one evening because it was a quick walk from my hotel and it was pouring rain. Service was extremely lackluster the entire visit as she stayed at the other end of the bar the entire time, either handling service bar or patrons on that end... I tried their Beef on Weck and Wing combo - It looked nice then it came out, but it didn't come with much horseradish and I wanted to ask for more, but I'd still be waiting, so I dealt with what I got. The sandwich itself was great! Beef was tender and flavorful, the bun was great too - except I don't understand why they made them with the outside being so greasy, that's nasty. The wings had decent flavor, I ordered them with their spicy BBQ sauce on them, which wasn't spicy at all. They had a nice crisp to them too, but they were small and not very meaty, so 5 went down quickly. The fries were plain and basic, nothing special. Sat at the bar and got great service from the bartender and the manager also stopped by to see how the meal was. Got the Buffalo dip for appetizer and would def get it again. I ordered hot bacon jam and only tasted bacon when I picked up a piece off the plate. One thing to consider is that location is right in front of a bus stop. Came here to of course try the world's first famous creation of Buffalo Wings! When we got there, it was packed, and we waited in line for over an hour.
