Where do I start? We had reservations for 11am. When we pulled up the gate was closed. It was pouring down rain and windy. Called my daughter she had already arrived and said the gate was open when they got there. So guess who gets to open the gate in the rain? Me, in the rain and dressed in my new Easter attire. We were quickly seated, and presented with the Easter Brunch menu. A waitress came by and took our drink orders. She brought them and then we sat and waited and waited. No one knew who was taking care of our table. We finally placed our order and the food arrived at 11:53. The 12pm patrons started arriving. My son in laws order was wrong 3 times. So we didn't get to all eat together waiting on his correct order to arrive. We were apologized to profusely. The sweetest employee kept apologizing over and over. Food and drinks were outstanding! Pork chops with fresh peaches and a side of crispy brussel sprouts were delicious. Salmon was perfectly seasoned and grilled. Enjoyed beautiful patio views overlooking the lake and Pickleball courts. Server was friendly and offered good suggestions. read more

I know I'm very late posting this (its been a busy week) but I don't always write my thoughts about less than great, Food and Service (I just don't always go back)! I do try and make a point to write about Good Quality; Food Service and Ambience, especially when its local and at an appropriate price! Anyway, Last Saturday evening "We" decided to go back to The Grill at 84 West www.84westdenison.com (The old Denison Rod & Gun Club). Its been at least a year since we had been there last. I was so gusted about their "Dallas prices" and under valved everything it would have been an insult to return. So, we heard they have a great new Chef! Prices seem to be adjusted and (in short) we had an array of food items. EVERYTHING was quality, fresh and hot. Cocktails quality and tasty! And Service was superb! read more

The ambiance was so nice! We came here for a date on Saturday and it was the perfect environment for casual conversation. I had the 84 West burger which was $17, but really good! They also had awesome French fries. The lighting was soft, and they turned the outside little fire heaters on and it was beautiful! Overall 10/10. :) read more

My first time eating here.I got a to go order and I was so totally blown away with the awesomeness of the flavoring in the food and the quality of food not to mention the warm service that you get with your pick up order. My husband and I went there for a late lunch/early dinner and as a whole we were very disappointed with our food, but found our waitress to be wonderful. I don't think after this experience we will go again and that's really disappointing because the first time was a wonderful one. Another time it was a three, but this one was a two and that was with our waitress being really good. We each ordered shrimp scampi based on the description posted. When they served it, and I saw what itlooked like, I was perplexed, but as soon as I tasted it, I knew it was NOT what I was expecting. There was so much seasoning on there that I had difficulty even trying to eat it. We asked our waitress to come back to our table and she politely did and when I asked her about it, she told us they were going for more of a Cajun style. Had we known it was Cajun style Shrimp Scampi, neither one of us would have ordered it, but under the circumstances, my gracious husband took it and we ordered something else. He suggested I ordered the filet mignon and we asked for it to be medium rare. When they brought it back, my husband said he thought it was a fast turnaround, (my husband is a good cook and often prepares dishes at home,) and then when I looked at the baked potato, I thought, how many times have they warmed up this potato? Frankly, it was very dry and did not taste fresh at all! I then took a bite of my filet mignon and told my husband, I think they've put Worcestershire sauce on this, it does not taste good at all. I asked him to taste it, and he thought they had put soy sauce on it. Nonetheless, it was not good and there was NO WAY we were going to eat that. It was a $36 meal and I gave it back to the waitress. I was appalled at the quality of food that was presented and given to us. My husband said, even the toast that came with the shrimp scampi was burnt, and for us to travel as far as we did to go there, I expected quality. I understand having a one time flop, but this is the second time we've had one and it was definitely the WORST we've ever had! We were in town for a relaxing Easter weekend and 84 West was recommended by my DIL. The grill was a great spot to chill and have a few drinks. The bar had good offerings and some good wine selections. We shared a few entrees and everything was delicious. The burger was cooked perfectly and fries were dang good. Try the ranch. The location is pretty with the pond outside. The free bread was amazing. Crab cakes and steak were pretty good. The fries are Cajun. The mashed potatoes have horseradish. Smoked Bloody Mary was the best part of our visit. The two times I've been, they were out of quite a few menu items which really limited my options to 4 meals to decide from- none of which were top of the options for me. Four of us went there for lunch last Sunday. It was our first time there and we were impressed by the scenery and friendliness of the waitress. Those were the positives. We ordered two different burgers, a fried chicken sandwich and a french dip sandwich, a beer, two bloody Mary's (one a double), and a dirty martini. We had at least 5 issues. Both burgers were ordered cooked medium in anticipation of a good juicy burger. Both were served well done, no juiciness. The chicken sandwich was ordered with the chicken cooked fried but was served grilled. The double bloody Mary was not a double and the waitress even admitted it. Then a glass of red wine was ordered. Prices ranged from $8-$17. No specific price was requested. When we received the bill the wine was charged the most expensive price (don't know if that was what was actually served or not). The French Dip came with an unusual tasting gravy, not Au jus. So, if there was only a couple of issues we might try it again. But almost all of these should have been caught by the waitress, which was their most experienced per her own admission. She made and or served all the drinks. She should have caught the mistakes in the cooking of the burgers and chicken sandwich. She offered to have them recooked but we had already waited a really long time to get served. She should have clarified the price of the wine instead of charging the highest amount. I'm sure a lot of people have had better experiences here but it's not worth our time or money to give it another try. read more

This restaurant started out so great , but not now. They are accepting reservations for large parties without the staff to accommodate. We were a party of four and waited for 1.5 hours for our food. There were 3 large parties of about 10 and four other smaller parties of 2 or 4. All of the other small parties were served before us and they all arrived AFTER us. The scallops were gritty and the risotto tasted strange. The prime rib request was medium rare and it arrived very well done. To their credit, they were apologetic and comped our food but this did not make up for a loud and confrontational experience. Good restaurants do not take reservations that they cannot handle. If you like places that are REALLY LOUD, charge premium prices and deliver sub par food after an hours' wait, this is your spot. read more

Amazingly night! The food was truly fantastic! Started with the smoked old fashion and it was delicious. We shared the spinach dip for an appetizer and it was solid, would have been better with salsa to offset the richness. Had the French dip for dinner and it was outstanding. Highly recommend. We couldn't wait to try this new restaurant and it didn't disappoint. Our server was Kerbi & she was great. We ordered cocktails from the bar and then they brought out fresh focaccia bread with two kinds of flavored butter...so good! The menu is great with a lot of diversity. I ordered the pork chop with wild rice and brussels sprouts caramelized with bacon. We ended the meal with a layered dark chocolate cake. Great restaurant with great service! You can read amongst my other reviews that I desperately try to stick to local places and stay away from chains as much as possible. However, it makes things very difficult when places like this exist. It's a nice place. Small, quaint and clean. However, the very small order, whose only change was "no onions" was screwed up. And once the corrected one finally came out, it seemed like it was just wiped off my burger. I could still taste the remnants of the horrible onions. The menu is very small and the options VERY specific and unusual. Nothing else on the menu would have brought me back. Won't return. read more

Nice looking place. Very bright no ambiance. But the food is seriously lacking. I ordered a $40 filet mignon. It was warm at best and tough. I didn't know a filet could've that tuff. Wife had a Cuban that was mediocre and cold too. The service was slow but tolerable. But at these prices I would expect much better service. So overall: overpriced ,poor food quality,and mediocre service. read more

Recently opened and we wanted to try it out. The food was really good. Our group was a party of 6 and we went on a Friday night. Make a reservation, it will be necessary. Staff was really nice and they seemed to work through the influx of patrons in a timely manner. Like I mentioned the food was really good.
